Showing how much good work can be done in a small shop with limited space, tools and budget, while running my property maintenance business. My intention is to show that with time and patience anyone can fix almost anything you put your mind to. I use my heavy equipment including excavators, dozers, skid steers and tractors for tasks such as road building, driveway construction, culvert installation and maintenance, as well as work on the equipment and maintain it. I also show general construction that is needed around a home, property and our own Little Mountain Winery. Keep workin’ hard.

I have the same model. Do you have a picture of the wiring to the alternator?
@@brendandidiano7742 I have a manual with a wiring diagram in it if that helps any. Let me know.

Good Morning! And Thank you for sharing this project. A company named DK hardware. Product number Hager 126808 1303. 4” full surface double acting spring hinge. Hope this info helps.
What size is the pad? This is exactly what I'll be doing and my pad is 10x30! I'll be doing it in theee section. The outer sections are first and then the middle. Your patio looks awesome! Mine is an extension to an existing patio and will be wrapping it around the side of my house. Can't wait! You have given me hope!
I am glad to help! Thanks for the comment. Just remember if you are in the freeze/thaw cycle, where it goes below and above freezing, please use some kind of rebar or mesh. Pack that dry concretely around it tight. Good luck.
My pad is 7’ by 20’
Also make sure you tie all sections together with the rebar or mesh to prevent crete sections from moving independently. They need to be actually ONE pad and move as one. Also, try to connect to the house concrete if there is a way to do that. I was able to, but your situation may be different as you may have a block foundation.
Good job. That's how it's supposed to be done.
This video made my first time working on a RTV900 an absolute dream, saved the link along with the PDF manual on the shop computer. This way the future maintainers can learn from you as well 👍🏻

My auxiliary valve is sticking in both positions. The lever is located on the right steering shifter. It is controlled by a cable that runs to the valve in front of your right foot position. What would be your recommendations for a fix.
What model is your steer?
1990 L555 deluxe
From everything you’ve said, on the right forward lever, the top rotates left and right. That controls the onboard hydraulics. (It has a cable.) Is that the one you mean? Both forward and reverse levers for moving machine don’t use cables.
If so, I would remove the cable and either work it by hand and lubricate it or soak it in oil. If it is not the cable, take it off and work the valves by hand and try cleaning and lubricate by hand. Does this sound like a plan or am I missing something?
I think you are correct on your assessment. I’ll take the cable out and lubricant. Thanks
Did you reuse bolt holes up top or just plug weld them. I did same repair on mine and am worried about compromising strength of frame by plug welding the 4 bolt holes. I hope you are still active on RUclips. Thanks
I did not plug weld shut any bolt holes. I made the crossmember in 3 pieces and welded them together on site and then welded the crossmember to the frame.
@@AJCurtis okay even if you did I don’t think it would cause a problem anyways

How do you drain the hydraulic fluid to get the air bubbles out to fix the steering?
I am not sure. I will dig into it and get back to you.
3ft Stakes on the grass to stop them moving and paint the tops red ! You need to stop the wood from moving and painted stakes seen in snow. Between the wood if stacked I normally use wood to let any water drain through.
Sounds like you’re experienced at this kind of thing. I did put the yellow stakes in and they show in the snow pretty good.
Nooice! 😎 STOC... watching you shows me a lot of things my L2500D is missing😂
That’s interesting. What parts are you missing?
@@AJCurtisOh, all sorts of bits and bobs, like the handwheel screws for the side engine covers, that metal vertical support from the engine to the top engine hood, looks like an electrical box something on the firewall, the foam shields around radiator... just for starters 🤣 Thanks for responding 😎
@@AJCurtis You seem very knowledgeable about your Kubota. I would be honored if you were to look at any of my tractor videos to see what you might also see is missing or just "wrong" 🤣. A Craigslist diamond in the rough that needs a lot of restoration. Thanks again for making this content 😎

AJ, Thank you for taking the time in making/sharing your video. Approx, what temperature does your motor reach?? How hot to the touch? I just put one in today. I hardly ever work on belted motors, excluding older rooftop units. Thanks again!

I have the same rtv 900. my dipstick full marl is not near the bottom but about an 1.5 inches up. mine takes near to the 4 qts.
Is this oil or tranny fluid?
@AJCurtis it is engine oil
Gotcha. My manual says 3.1 quarts. It is actually in liters. I put 3 quarts in and it is down 1/8” on the dipstick. My engine uses no oil, so I watch it and don’t worry about the .1 thing. Thanks for the comment.
Do you stretch the flex pipe apart or leave it pushed together
It is kind of like an accordion, it stretches out. Just make sure you have the right length for your application and stretch it out as needed. Try to get it to run from your furnace to the top of the roof in one piece. Good luck.
Do you have a video on how to engage the 4×4 on that same Kubota you just worked on
No I don’t. It is to the left of the shift lever for low, medium and high. I believe up is 4wd and down is 2wd. Need a pic of it!? Can do tomorrow.
Or should I make a video of all the controls and uses?
Video for RTV operation tutorial up on channel. Hope it helps.
@AJCurtis if you can show a video of the control s and how to operate them would be very helpful. Thanks for responding
Your welcome. The RTV 900 operation video is up on the channel.
Hello if anyone knows how to loosen up a stiff control valve, I took the pedals apart and the rod connected to the bucket pedal is stiffer back and forth compared to the boom rod? Can I just twist the rod to see if it will loosen up?
I think it probably needs lubrication, but I am not sure. If you twist it, be gentle. Hope this helps.
I took rod off of pedal, and per terrible design yet again on skid steer, impossible spot to even see… tryed spray lube and work back and forth , nothing…what gets me is how can the designs of these machines they actually have brains… I swear at these things every time I have to work on them!
I understand. What you are dealing with is what’s called mechanical over hydralic. I absolutely prefer it over computers running the machine like cars do. You need to trace it back to the valve it uses to open and close the hydraulics. Pull off seat and front cover and take them off and out of steer. You’ll need to see if valve needs replaced or can be freed up. I think probably it just needs freed up. Good luck. By the bye, I would much rather work on these guys than any car or truck out there. Good luck.
Thanks for the comment.
Excellent video!!!
Thanks. I try.
I’m a bit late to the party. Can you recall if you had to remove anything other than belly pan to access the module. I’ve seen instructions that say remove fuel tank! I’m hoping my new problem is just electrical but want to be prepared for the worst.
No. I did not remove anything else. On my 555, the lift solenoid is to the left side of the seat when sitting on it way the heck down. Taking off the skid plate was the answer as then it was accessible. I did not have to remove the fuel tank. Hope this helps.
Yes sir it does.. there is no sign of fluid

unrelated but I have a New Holland L553, where is your fuse box located?
Your question intrigued me. I didn’t remember ever seeing a fuse box on that machine. I checked my owners manual and it doesn’t have one listed anywhere. It does have a circuit breaker on the ignition system. Anybody out there have a New Holland 555? Maybe you can help us out. It may be because it has a Kubota diesel? Sorry I can’t be of more help.
My understanding is there are two circuit breakers on the L555 - located near the starter and glow plug relays on the engine-bay side wall (right side when looking from behind machine). Don’t know if L553 has same.
Thanks my friend. That is what my manual says for my 555 exactly.
what size is that? i see you use 15 bags. I trying to do the math how many bags concrete i need for 8’x16’ with 6ish inches deep. love the video ❤
It is 3 feet by 4 feet approximately and 5 inches deep. Our big pour was 7 feet by 20 feet and we used 80 bags. There is a concrete calculator out there on the net. Just search and put in your dimensions and it comes pretty close. You also can return what you don’t use, so buy a little extra. Good luck.
Looks awesome! One of the best dry pour jobs I've seen so far.
Thanks. I’m just happy I can do concrete again!
Hello Im getting ready to do mine , how were you able to make that bend out the chimney at the bottom?? I'm using 4 inch to but I think I need a tee { tee snout} . That liner can bend that much???
I have a 10” breakout hole that was needed when I was burning wood in the old furnace. What size is your entry hole? We were able to bend it and slide it thru. It wasn’t real easy, but doable. Good luck my friend and thanks for the support and comment.
In addition, I really wanted no 90 degree turn, and for the pipe to start at the furnace and run continuously to the top of the chimney if that makes sense?
@@AJCurtis Thanks for the reply ,I have about a 5 inch hole dont think i can do it like you did .Going to need a tee. GOOD VIDEO
@@garymonsarratt6048 Thanks my friend. Yeah, 5 inch would be a real bear. I think you hit it with the tee. Good luck.
awesome-- you saved yourself a couple grand over having it contracted, and a whole lot of trouble mixing and pouring and finishing it before it sets up. Congrats!
Yeah. I am amazed how really easy this pour went. A wet pour was quoted at around 3 grand as we would have had a short load. The cement cost us 360 bucks! It was still a lot of work, but no pressure. I think this is the way to go. Have had no problems at all with the crete. Everyone at our winery has sure enjoyed our new porch!
Nice job, good camera work. Note that the air filter is actually a two part system and you changed only the outer filter. If you look closely you will see a second filter (smaller diameter inside the larger diameter one that you changed). That also needs changing. It just pulls out as easily as the outer one. It filters smaller particles.
You are absolutely correct. I kind of approached the subject in my video of maintaining my L tractor. It does not have that inner filter at all. There is a different way of looking at it though. The inner filter IS a smaller particulate filter and as it traps that, it won’t let as much small particulate in. I look at it this way. If that filter is CLEAN (no visible dirt), I don’t change it until I see that it’s dirty. I do not run my equipment that many hours per year, so I keep a close eye on it. I should have said it in my video, but didn’t. I will address that in a future video. Thanks for the catch, you are paying attention.
By the way, my manual calls for that filter to be changed every 2 years. I have to admit I have only changed it once since 2008. Thanks again for the comment. I appreciate it.
Your RTV just called me, its pissed. It wants to be power washed before winter sets in and it wants the floor mat cleaned to.
If a Kubota is not dirty, it is a yard ornament
How often do you clean the spark arrester?
I look at it every couple years. Mine is the internal type with 2 screws to take off tail pipe from muffler. I use off road fuel and power stoke additive with cetane boost in it. I have actually never found any carbon in it. My machine has 1500 hours on it. Probably should have included it in my video, and will on the next extended maintenance video. It’s time to change out coolant and check my thermostat plus change out hydraulic oil as well. Look for that video coming soon as winter shop is just around the corner. Thanks for the comment. 😎👍
