Today I took the chance to take the 92 Rocky Ridge up into the hills to decipher what needs sorting out and what doesn’t. The frame geometry suited me well and it was a comfy ride, if not a little dangerous.

I thought I was a one off. But I've found another Manin Man! These bikes give such a lively and pedal power efficient ride; they are well worthy of renovation when found in need of TLC. I have fully renovated a few over the years myself. I've owned 12 Marin's since my first in 1989 (Palisades Trail). Now I have a 2023 Presidio gravel with drop bars and a renovated 1996 Kentfield converted to a drop bar cross bike. I use these bikes more than I use my car/ They are both nimble and very quick. Marin make brilliant bikes and are up there with the other top brands (in my book).
Got a 1989 Muirwoods... had it since new, was flourescent yellow bleached to hell now but pretty much original.
I've a 1992 Palisades Trail
I have one that I bought in the UK in 1992... I think I paid just under 800 quid for it ..I loved this bike as it was a quantum leap over what I'd been riding previously . I Used it mostly for canal riding between Yorkshire and Lancashire but also as a work commutor after I sold my car . Brought it with me when I moved to Canada in 1996 and bummed around Vancouver on it for a few years ...I still have it downstairs .... Totally original apart from putting some thinner tyres on more suitable for roadwork ..but it hasn't been ridden in about 10 years .... You've inspired me to take it out for a spin for old times sake !!! ...funny you mention Linford and his "Lunchbox " .... You'd most often see me out on the bike wearing the 92 iconic Olympic vest !! ..It's probably still stuffed in a drawer back at my mum's
What happened to part 3?
Hi Stephen. Great question. I’m notoriously slow to produce RUclips content and for that I apologise. The truth is, the frame has undergone a rather interesting transformation that will be catalogued soon. I have quite a few bikes that I restore at the the same time and therefore they get finished at a slower speed. Stay tuned it’ll be worth it.
