Remember having seen her live performance in Montreux in the early 90s. Quincy was the MD and had carte blanche for around a week. Big band conducted by Philinganes, Duke and Benson as soloist, Siedah as lead singer backed up by Valerie Simpson, the new comer Rachelle Ferrelle and Chaka. That was the fucking 6th fleet in battle order with ICBM flying around!!!

This man was by far is one of the most underrated vocalist in music history. I hope that they do an unsung story on this man. 🙂

Paulinho Da Costa on Percussion (powerhouse percussionist at the time), Paulette Brown, Sherlie Matthews, and Cleopatra Kennedy on background vocals... and that's just out of the gate! Beautifully penned, sung and performed song. While it might seem too "mushy" a song for the 2020's, it captures youthful love that is new - desperate, yet one that saves the day. Just listen to the opening lyrics: "I get crazy blind... lose my mind. You're sweet love was just in time. I was so in need; on my knees" The first two versus are muted, warm, meaningful. The second verse, even better: "If ever I need to feel your touch; I just fantasize, close my eyes. I was never one for make believe, but I see in you - dreams come true." It's just one of many amazing songs (and groups) that is buried somewhere in the junkyard of 80's smooth, yet underappreciated songs. One of my favorite songs of all times.

Reminiscent of Grace Jones' 'Pull Up To The Bumper' with all the car noises and all the brass and trumpet sounds. Quite motown but more contemporary.
