Beginner Series Abanico on Timbales
Another video for the beginner series on Timbales. The Abanico is a basic intro to many Son Montunos ( popular Cuban music) and Salsa tunes. It can be used after a break in the tune too. You’ll also be able to fit it into your solos (5 stroke and 7 stroke rolls). Well enjoy practicing it and using it in your music. Here are some books that will help you with your drum rudiments.

Hey, this was a great lesson for a beginner looking to move beyond the classic Martillo -- thanks! But it looks like you didn't get to do the additional lessons on Bongo improv you said were coming. I, and I'm sure many others, would really appreciate those lessons if you could find time to do them!

I play left-handed, but I live in Japan and one of my English students wanted to learn bongos. So I had to teach myself to play righthanded by watching your videos lol thanks bro, now my lessons with him are getting easier. His first song assignment is "Panos de llagrimas" by Sonora Poncena. He loves it! Now he is listening to old school Orquesta De La Luz too.

Great Video! Thanks for posting. I’ve been studying as a percussionist for 30 years and 20 of those years as a conguero. This technique is ALWAYS in my practice regimen. Love to modulate this phrase continuously between 3s, 4s, 6s, etc. (depending on the tempo) placing the attacks in different spaces around the clave. The possibilities are endless! Anyway, Look forward to checking out your future tutorials. Can tell just by the way you place your hands on the drum that you’ve really dug into his style.
