Jinju Paints - Arts, Crafts & Unboxing Channel
Добавлен 21 дек 2021
Welcome!
My name is Jinju, and I'm making my first steps into a hobby I longed for quite some time now: resin figure painting. Later, I'd like to try printing 3D models too. I'm not in a position to have this as a full-time occupation, nor have I the finances to support this quite expensive hobby, nevertheless, I hope you'll stick around for occasional videos and learn together with me!
If you're more experienced in figure painting, please take your time to comment suggestions how I can improve my skills!
I'm trying to expand my skillset, so you'll see me practice drawing and painting paint by numbers painting too.
I'll also share with you occasional figure unboxings of anime, Star Wars or figures of other origin.
Thank you!

Welcome to October's Patreon exclusive video!
This month's NSFW project was Aayla Secura. It's a single-piece 3D model from cults3d.com. I printed a base for it too, from the same site.
It was fun working on it. Aayla is such a fierce, brave warrior, but this model portrays her in a vulnerable, tender moment. I added an extra bandage on her arm as if she had a scar on it that she'd want to cover with that.

Oh wow... paint the eyes black, then paint them white. I don't think I've ever seen that before. That's an interesting idea! Your eyes turned out great. I've apparently caught influenza from my daughter because tonight my head feels like I am intoxicated, yet I have not drunk any alcohol. Your relaxing video was comforting to watch.
Thank you! Get well soon! This is a method I've learned a while ago and I kinda like it. It leaves a small, thin black line around the white of the eyeball, making it more realistic. It's so hard to add the eyelashes at the end, and with this, it just naturally remains there. Saves you time and frustration. :D
Hay nice music choice
Thanks :)
I meant Electra actually.
Hay we’re did you get her from? And we’re can I find her??
Hi! I got this figure from Neokyo.com, which is a proxy site that allows us to order directly from Japan / Japanese sellers.
Incredible contentent Thanks for sharing
Thank you!
do you think you wood do more vintage figures down the road?
I think so. I have two sofubi vintage Nadia figures (one of Nadia in her swimmsuit and another one of Electra), and I recently managed to buy a very old Luke Skywalker kit as well. It will be quite a challenge. :)
@@jinjupaints Where looking forward to them all.
@@AlexandraPrater-e1q thanks
He is not obscure. He is literally the Final Boss for the old tsubasa series
Is he though? Because in the last couple of the manga Rising Sun, we mostly see other rivals, especially Japan vs. Spain. Schneider is a significant rival in his teenage years, I just think there are so many more important figures instead of him. But... let's hope to see more releases from the series. :)
@ Most of the anime arcs till the beginning of millenium had Schneider as the main boss. To me, as a fan of very first Captain Tsubasa anime and 80s storyarcs in manga Schneider was always the main most powerful foreign antagonist
@@IngloriousBuster for a long time, I felt the same. Many of Tsubasa's overseas rivals seemed over the top for me, with crazy stunts and stupid acrobatics, while Schneider was strong in technique and tactic, persistent and headstrong, a more realistic football player than the rest. There are my chapters of the continuing series that I don't like at all, but they all show that Schneider is just one of may rivals Tsubasa has to face if he wants to become the best of the world.
Favorite Leia costume? I'd say the original white gown. I'd like to get the Imperial Probe Droid from the Black Series. It looks very cool.
I think I like her dress from Cloud City the best. :)
Just a heads up no one youse the r word anymore, as a friendly reminder for the future .
People kinda do use it, in different connotations.
@@jinjupaints but its still a good thing to keep in mind tho just saying .
This was really helpful and the mermaid is super cute

In all fairness Venus was the leader of the Inner Senshi during their past lives on the moon as well as Being Usagi/Serenity's personal Guard and body double. She was also the first to awaken in their current life as a senshi and as such has the most battle experience and in the manga she retained more memories of her past life than any of the other senshi did. Just to give a little perspective as to why she basically defaulted into the leadership role instead of one of the other senshi Usagi found before they found Minako. Have a great day and well done on the model kit!
Thanks! I know, it just feels off for me. I guess being blonde definitely makes her a great option as a body double which increases her importance but still... I would have preferred a different senshi. :)
@jinjupaints I can understand that, they all have their strengths and weaknesses and I know we all have our favorites and not so favorites! 🤍

@@joseandrade8142 Good luck and enjoy the figures!
I just ordered this figure, I was hesitant but finally decided after watching your video 🙂👍
Oh, I'm glad! It's a wonderful, pretty figure! You"ll love it!!
Let's say your RUclips cover's font and the color of background is not easy to read
Thanks for the feedback, I'll try to improve that for later videos.
I discovered the Comic Artist Pro Secrets when the terrible Star Wars: The Last Jedi was making everyone upset. He is funny! That's about when I discovered Salty Cracker's channel too. Incoherent rambling is fun. I just record videos as-is, with incoherent rambling and the occasional toilet flush in the background since the restroom is right next to my hobby room. I like to think of it as "hanging out." Sailor Moon was released in English when I was in college, and my friends and I watched it because, HOLY CRAP! Anime is on TV again! It had been so long. Plus, pretty girls, etc. It was a guilty pleasure. Then the anime popularity exploded. Just prior to that, I was the only anime fan in my high school, wearing Urusei Yatsura and Macross T-shirts. The way you hand-paint these figures is amazing, with no noticeable brush strokes. Too bad about the mask, but your figure turned out nicely. That's quite an interesting pose, too! I have some garage kits by Bome, as well as have several of his pre-painted PVC figures still in the blister packaging, hung on my wall. He's a master sculptor, but he is known for very boring poses. This Sailor V has a rather dynamic pose, and looks interesting. I've uploaded a couple of Nadia videos this past week, of those sofubi figures I am finally making progress on after so many years being shelf queens in my closet. I hope to finish them by the end of the year.
Hi! Thank you! It does take a lot of patience to paint them by hand without the brushstrokes. At my beginnings, I was told I should thin the paint to a milky, yoghurty consistency and it will be allright to paint it with a brush. The downside is that it does not look as pretty or professional as done with airbrush, but maybe I'll learn that too someday. In my first attempts, I was trying to do my commentary "on the fly" but despite using English every day at work, it's actually my third language and words don't come as natural and easy as I would love them to be. So I mostly script my thoughts while editing a footages. I was lucky with this video, because after I recorded my voice, one of my neighbours started to drill the wall SO HARD that I couldn't even hear my thoughts. I was lucky to finish the recording before that. Thank you for letting me know about your new videos, I'll head to your channel to check them out! :) Sailor Moon (along with Dragon Ball) definitely contributed to the boom of anime in TV here in Europe too. We were so happy to watch them on all the German, Italian or French channels, and many of the anime kids of my generation learnt foreign languages thanks to all of these series. Before that, it was really hard to come by official releases: laserdiscs were not really a thing here, VHS and DVD-s had those pesky region codes and were not playing on our devices, etc. So whatever we could miraculously download from the internet in terrible quality, we truly treasured. That's my main problem with today's shows: almost hours or days after airing it on TV, the episodes are available online, subbed, without andy quality filtering, allowing all the filth and terrible shows to the market. I could barely name anything from today's line-up I'd want to watch. Oh, and I adore uncle Ethan. :) I enjoy Trashcast so much, I love the humor, roasting, the puppet shows XD. And of course, I admire his drawing and inking skills, so much to learn from this man.
@@jinjupaints The only recent anime I have enjoyed was Spy Family, although my daughter and I did get bored with it. I really liked the Urusei Yatsura reboot, and now there is a Ranma 1/2 reboot on Netflix (which I do not have). When you learn how to use an airbrush, you just have to practice on scrap plastic. Thinning the paint to the consistency of milk for airbrushing eventually becomes a habit, and it comes naturally. What is your first language, by the way? I cannot tell from your accent.
@@stevethefishdotnet thanks for the tip! :) I'm Hungarian.
🦚❤
Loved the concept too. May I ask if nadia is a plastic pvc figure? Thanks for sharing.
Yes, it's PVC. :)
Wow. Your hand sketches are amazing! Everyone says that hands are the most difficult part of the body to draw. As for your colors... It's hard for me to offer advice since I am colorblind, but her skintone needs to be an orange-brown. It'll give her color a warmer tone. What you used would do better for shading, I think. Plus I think her eye color is green, but then again anime doesn't seem to stay consistent. Sadamoto himself can't keep her eye color consistent! Do you have any Nadia artbooks? I have the Nadia Roman Album, Newtype Illustrated Collection La Memoire and Portraits (both Nadia) and Yoshiyuki Sadamoto's Alpha (a collection of pre-Eva works).
Thank you for your kind words! I't been such a long time ago I've practiced. :( I still struggle with pencils, but have really found my thing while coloring with markers. I have those artbooks as well, plus Sadamoto's "Der Mond". Great books!
I think your figure turned out nicely. Icolina's skin tone is close to Nadia's though, so I would have gone with a darker skin tone by mixing brown, fluorescent orange, and white accordingly to get something closer. You did a good job with her eyes!
Thank you! I'll heed your advice. :) I went by the photo that was included, that showed her with more of a fair skin. I should rewatch the series... it's been far too long :(
I have painted the Nadia with mauve dress and dress hat. Search "1/15 Kaiyodo nadia garage kit". You can usually find it on proxy From Japan. I don't think we can share links on youtube.
OMG thank you for the info! This was the figure and the pose!

@arbitScaleModels For some reason, your comment was censored! This videos says there are four comments, but I had to sort by "newest first" just to see them. I swear, RUclips is becoming more and more obnoxious.
@@stevethefishdotnet that's true! At first I could only see it if I open the video as a regular watcher. It showed on the dashboard that there is a comment but it didn't allow me to watch it or to respond to it. Very weird.

Excellent work! You show a strong grasp of the fundamental skills so many people lack in this artform. Your color choices are intelligently made, your coverage and coat quality is rock solid, and your fine detail work shows a great natural affinity. I am excited to see you develop more knowledge, practice, and confidence using highlights and shadows, as well as the multitude of techniques for adding textures and weathering! Thank you so much! I'll work on expanding my skillset!
I'm glad someone said it. Nendos always seemed like a consolation prize, can't afford the $200 scale? well, here's a chibi version for $30.... then $40... then $60. Some of the new ones are around 10,000 yen! Might as well just get the scale at that point and that's BEFORE you look into the after market prices.
Sooo true! I'm especially dissapppointed after seeing so many older series and characters getting nendo/chibi releases instead of regular scale figures! WHY?!
Best Sepia fineliners! Underated pens, underated video!!

there is a story type for this kind of work and I'm not even going to say it but if you do , just a heed's up.
I'm afraid I fon't fully understand. You mean a new anime like this is in works and will be released soon?
What is the story about ?
The protagonist of the story is Tenchi Masaki, a regular teenageer, who encounters several alien girls who all try to fight for his love in a weird romance comedy. :)
@@jinjupaints oh that's is messy.
@@AlexandraPrater-e1q it's funny, mostly, but there is also drama, especially in the movies. Worth watching.
Never seen this show before what is it about?
Hi! Well, it's a space romance comedy mecha kind of mixture. It's set in a semi-distant future where the Earth had been attacked by an alien race called the Jovians and humans live on colonies. They try to stand against these aliens with huge robots. The main hero is a young man called Akito, the love interest of Yurika and how he deals with the hardships of the fight.
I love watching you paint the kits!! It’s just so satisfying!
aww thank you! 🤗🤗
Hey, I like the Sailor Moon iron bead sprite in the background! Yes, I remember this show. I bought the series on DVD and I watched it through twice, but it didn't really get me very excited as I thought it would. I never got around to watching the movie too. Your end result looks nice, but it's a shame about the cape. I am currently building a Deedlit sofubi kit from Record of Lodoss War. She has these large shoulder guards, you know? The figure comes with a large cape that is supposed to fit over those shoulder guards, and the cape itself has even larger shoulder guards. I am afraid I might not be able to line everything up properly.
Hehe, thank you, that was a gift from my friend! :) Good luck with the Deedlit kit! I was tempted to buy her on e2046 when it was in stock, but I always found something else I was waiting for a longer time. :) Maybe one day. Can you pin sofubi kits? Or maybe extend it with putty/clay to make it bigger? Maybe that will help attaching the cape.
@@jinjupaints Pinning sofubi requires some extra steps, since the parts are hollow. I usually fill the parts with paper clay to keep the shape. If you use epoxy putty for the ends, then you can pin the parts that way. Tell you what... I was going to hold off on uploading the first Deedlit video for a while, but I can go ahead and upload that maybe today and you can see how they are built.
@@stevethefishdotnet looking forward to it!

Those stands look nice. I have no budget for a 3D printer, though.
thank you! I know printers are not cheap, when I bought mine, Anycubic had a sale so I was fortunate.
Lum-chan turned out nicely. I assume you do not have an airbrush... I don't have the guts to try to hand-paint a garage kit like this! My advice for you is to buy a spray can of matte clear acrylic to go over your kit and to seal in the decals. Have you ever used artists' pastel chalk? After a matte clear coat, using pastel chalks in the recessed areas would add a lot of depth to her hair. I've resumed work on my Nadia sofubi kits. Vinyl is very difficult to use sandpaper on, so now I am trying to remove seamlines with puttying and sanding. It's a long process because I am not using a primer on these kits in order to use the V-Color vinyl paint on them. By the way, do you still upload to Odysee? I looked for this video on there and did not see it.
Oh, I do spray them once everything is finished, I just don't show it on video. :) They are long enough already, it's listed among the used materials though. ;) But thanks for the tip about the chalk! I stopped uploading to Odysee a while ago, I lost the amount of credits or what they are called and it refuses me tu upload any further. :S
Nice work. Beautiful paint work. As an airbrush guy I admire your skills with paint brush.❤
Thank you! ☺
great review, thanks!
thank you for watching!
It's a great figure. I got it around the time it came out. Unfortunately it's been packed away in a moving box for too long. In 2015 Disney tried to boycott Slave Leia as misogynistic. Bruh, she infiltrated Jabba's palace to rescue the man she loved, killed the slug that forced her into the dancer outfit with the chain hanging from her neck, and fought side-by-side with Luke. This was a series of girl power moments that all Star Wars fans respected. Only misogynists see misogyny everywhere.
Couldn't agree more! She is THE strong female representation we need.
Nice work. There is now actually an official "Ayanami Blue" acrylic paint by Turner Acryl Goache for her hair color. So far there is no official paint for Asuka's hair color.
thank! I didn't know that she has her official color. :)
Oh great! You are on Odysee. Good for you! I'm going to direct viewers to your Odysee channel in my next update video. I try to spotlight hobbyist channels on Odysee.
Oh, thank you!
Don't mind me... I found your channel by doing a search for Nadia figures. Your previous one (the one by Wave) had better preshading on the fleshtone. This one has a nicer pose, nice underboobs, dramatically-posed clothing, but the skintone is too light. I'd love to build this as a resin kit, but I wouldn't buy this pre-painted kit.
thank you for your comment! Yes, this one is has one of the lightest skin colors for the character, I agree. I myself would love to work on Nadia garage kits, unfortunately the fulfillment on e2046 takes so long for a Nadia figure that I rather bought the original statues, :(
@@jinjupaints Actually, there are two Nadia figures on E2046 I have on my wishlist that are over 70% of their requirement. I think those will probably become available soon. If you are up for the challenge of building a sofubi kit, Tsukuda made three Nadia sofubi figure kits in 1:6 scale. I started three of them many years ago and I am now motivated to get back to them. I do not see anyone building anime sofubi figures on YT. My channel may be the only one.
@@stevethefishdotnet I sure am. :) I managed to buy two soft vinyl kits from Neokyo, one for Nadia and one for Electra, I definitely will begin working on one of them this summer. :) I'll check out your channel too!
@@jinjupaints Most people don't have the patience for sofubi kits. The nice thing is that if they do not require sanding seamlines like resin. If made properly, they should be smooth all around. Just stay away from Thai recasts. Looks like you found my Minmay sofubi already. I've done a 1:5 Devil Hunter Yohko as well as big 1:4 Dirty Pair set that turned out nicely (despite many setbacks). Then I have the three Nadia sofubi I need to return working on.
@@stevethefishdotnet I like that you work on older, legacy series and characters. That's what motivates me as well, to make figures from my old favorites. I have a couple coming up next. :)
Good find on the resin kit of the cook girl! For the Aizu figure of Nadia wearing her "Southern island" white curtain dress, the same sculpt was made as a resin garage kit by Cherryblossom. I built and painted it for a build video series on my channel. If you go to my channel and search for "Cherryblossom Nadia," you'll find the four videos for the build. I age-restricted the videos due to the nudity involved as the kit is pretty well-detailed, with the clothing attaching to her sculpted body. The final figure is at around the 51 minute mark of the 4th video. I have to say that despite being colorblind, I think I did a better job for her fleshtone and her eyes. I also have some Nadia sofubi figure kits I began working on six years ago. I got them out last night to maybe try resuming work on them.
You're right. That skintone is just weird. This is why I don't buy PVC figures of Nadia. They never seem to get her skintone right. Some make her nearly Caucasian-looking. I have no idea why recent Nadia merchandise wants to whitewash her because the old '90s merch has her proper, beautiful, dark brown skintone.
So true. She is a great, brown skinned character representation in anime and I loved how natural that was back than, without feeling forced. Sadly, each manufacturer uses different shades for her.
@@jinjupaints Yes. Everything is forced now. At least as far as Hollywood goes.
Yeah, those eyes are not good. The rest of the sculpt is great though.
Yes. XD I only look at it from afar, then it's not so weird.
