I really enjoyed this video featuring the classic piston twins! It was great to see the Travel Air. My father owned a 1961 Beechcraft Twin Bonanza Model J50. Those were great airplanes! Cheers!

IDC how well you maintain it, a plane this age needs extensive overhaul to remain safe to fly. Normal maintenance doesn't cut it when they get this old. Also, we've learned a lot about aerodynamics and aircraft design since these planes rolled off the assembly line. I see flying an inferior old plane as taking unnecessary risks. I am a certified aviation maintenance tech who has worked major repair and overhaul on aging aircraft and converting passenger planes to cargo planes. I even worked on the prototype 747 fire bomber. The amount of work necessary to ensure an old plane is airworthy is far more extensive than the vast majority of techs would ever do on a private plane. People who can afford complex twins, even cheaper old ones typically get there by being cheap, underhanded and have a big ego and think the rules don't apply to them, like 95% of the wealthy people on the planet. And Germany may have slightly more stringent certification requirements than the US but, even there, you have an institutionalized complacency about flying tired old planes.

The single engine Meyers 200 leading them is far more rare.

Hello from Uruguay.... Our Navy (Armada) still has three Cessna Skymasters operational at their Laguna del Sauce base (PDP).

I have flown a Cessna Skymaster. From the right seat that is. When I was a kid the military was still using the Skymaster. They were a regular sight as I lived in the vicinity of a military base. It’s been a handful of years since my last flight in the Skymaster. But it’s still based at my home airport. Other than an airliner it’s the only twin engine aircraft I have flown in.

What a great flier. I have to add to what Mark said. The shies were perfect for the mood and the model would have been so realistic with a pilot and all the original markings. I'm sure the newer versions of the Me-163 would have dropped the rocket engine and replaced it with a more reliable Jumo.

Somewhere I still have the Vandersleuss manuals he gave my best friend when he trained him in the T-6. Great memories thanks!

I know this joy, having had numerous T-6 and Harvard rides. I even got an hour of front seat dual instruction. Hope you achieve all your goals!

Great video. A feast for ears and eyes. Somehow the combination of sounds and even the livery against the trees is spot on.

Few things sing such beautiful music than the sound of radial engines on takeoff. Wish there was a camera person at the other end to capture those growling engines. Loved Sky King episodes as a kid and now and then still watch my DVDs of the show.

This C45 was restored by Wade King Sims on St. Simons Island, GA back in the 90s. Note the registration - 45SK (C45 Sky King) We completely stripped all the WWII era avionics out of it and put in modern Bendix-King stuff and he used it to fly back-and-forth between PDK and SSI with his bride and 3 Corgis. It's a terrific plane. It also has air-conditioning. Thanks for uploading this.

That Argus is so slow and "lazy" sounding that if I listened with my eyes closed I'd think it was a small radial of some sorts. (turns only 2000 rpm!). Thanks for sharing, very unique sound.
