On the Hunt for a Homestead - Aussie Park Metal Detecting - Minelab Manticore
After an early start metal detecting in a local park, and failing to find a single interesting object, I decided to head over to a quiet park at the end of a cul-de-sac road that used to contain a homestead. There's very limited information about the old house aside from some old aerial photos, so I wasn't too sure what I'd find. Some areas in the park were densely packed with potential treasures, so I had no issue finding targets to unearth.

Danger! Beach Erosion Ahead! - Aussie Beach Metal Detecting - Minelab Manticore
Просмотров 286День назад
While I was out and about, I saw some new signs had been put up at the entry to a local beach signaling that there's new beach erosion. Fresh erosion almost always leads to excellent finds, so I didn't waste any time grabbing the metal detector and heading down to the beach as soon as possible. My initial search was interrupted, but I was able to come back again the next night to finish detecti...

Another day at the office!
Yes indeed!
Now thats what I call a trashy site !!! I recently got onto an old house site. Dug down 300mm through tree roots to dig up an old door hinge so I know how you feel. Stiil - the yearly running total for you is looking good. Better luck next time buddy
Thanks Mel! I've hopefully got some awesome sites lined up that should push that total up nicely.
nice vids!!
Thanks, I'm glad you like them!
oh lol i thought it was gonna be like some old washed up trash
Ah, the story of my life!
Love finding Dog Tags. Nice find. What's the oldest one you've ever found. 1907 was the oldest one I've ever found. Take Care
Most of mine are quite new. The oldest was about 50-60 years old. Thanks for watching!
Mate I just subbed to your channel, love your content, keep up the great work 👍😊
I appreciate the sub! Thanks for your support!
Looks like a piece of copper tubing from an ac unit.
Very possible!
A few deep targets there made you work for them
They were deep! I suspect this beach had about a metre of extra sand on it.
Congrats on the 2 Cent Coin. Take Care
Thanks for watching!
A viewer has identified this object as the end of an old safety razor!
Agreed 💯
My bet is that this is an aircraft part, prob. from WW2. All those crashed planes, bits of flak, MG bullets, and scrap metal had to land somewhere.
You could be correct. There are records somewhere of a WWII plane making an emergency landing on a local beach somewhere after being damaged.
@@SunstateMetalDetecting Maybe I'm weird, however I've always been fascinated by thinking about the final destination of many thousands of crashing aircraft, millions of machine gun bullets and aircraft/human body parts, and billions or trillions of spent flak artillery fragments in almost all of Europe. Also, aircraft debris landing on the beach or near off-shore will eventually end up on a beach someplace. This is to not even mention the shit that was falling out of the sky intentionally.
7.26 you have the top of a safety razor.
That makes a lot of sense! Thanks!
Which mapping tool do you use?
It's a mish mash of a few tools. My main ones are Google Maps for Streetview and maps, Google Earth for Satellite Images, GeoResGlobe for Lidar height maps and property ownership info, and finally qImagery for aerial photography. GeoResGlobe and qImagery are provided by the Queensland State Government and the State Archives, but most other Australian states will have their own versions.
@@SunstateMetalDetectingI am on the Sunshine Coast but I know that I need to be a bit more scientific to avoid the obvious hot spots that have been dug to death . I enjoy your style of video. Cheers Jess
Thanks Jess!
I half expected you to pull out something ridiculously crazy that was clearly planted there to try and get views. "I found Jesus' gold chain he was wearing the day he was resurrected." 😂
lol! 🤣 There's nothing fake about this channel! Every find is as real as it gets.
boom let's go let's go treasure and adventure ✌👵
Boom! 💥
Looks like a number plate bracket
I hadn't thought of that! It very well could be.
I've never lived anywhere that has had an abandoned building.
A shame, some abandoned sites can make for great treasure hunting!
good video, thanks for showing
Thanks for watching! 😁
Very nice find. Beautiful Coin. Take Care
Thank you kindly
My man, that looks like a cock ring
I suppose it does 😅
Those shouldn't sound as good as they do. I've dug in a lot of obstacles like yours. Sagebrush here can be tough to get to you spot you want to dig. Take Care
I guess the shape must make them sound so good. Thanks for stopping by!
I agree with that.
New subscriber and T/U 46.
Nice to have you along!
Nice Video.... I live in Brisbane near Enoggera Greek and I found the old Gold Mine and Rock Crusher.. Not to long ago, I found $192 at WALLER ROAD PARK in Brown Plains Brisbane in 90 Minutes with a Whites 6000 Di Pro. My Detectors: FISHER Gold Bug, Minelab Equinox 800 and a Whites 6000 Di Pro.
Nice results! I have a few old abandoned mines near me I'll have a go at one day. They're only coal mines, but you never know what you might find!
Congrats on the Silver Coin. Take Care
Thanks, you too!
That is a (S) C ring
Good to know, thanks! 👍
I think you got it!🐔 ring😂

Nice work mate have a look at metal detecting Queensland hope you like it 👍⛏️😁
I'll check it out!
Great Video again Kieran. I'm surprised you find any coins at all at an old nudist beach seeing how they had no pockets !!! hehehe
I've always wondered that myself! I also wonder what the Catholic Sisters would have thought about their beach being used for such purposes after they left!
Boom let's go let's go treasure and adventure ✌👵
Let's go!
Hi mate just started following you, I’m in WA. I also use a manticore and it’s funny how the different soil conditions change the TDI between states. The $2 comes up as 64 & $1 a 69, whereas in Sunshine coast it’s different. I like guessing what you will dig up going by the numbers.
Thanks for watching! I love playing the guessing game, especially when I guess wrong and get something better instead! I've definitely found the amount of mineralization in the soil here plays a huge part in how the targets sound. There are some beaches and creeks with loads of black sand, and in those cases the TDI could be just about anything.
Good luck mate 😊
Thanks for watching!
Love the video. Hope you found some great stuff. Take Care
Thanks!
Utter newbie here, my Legend arrived today and is still unpacked. Won't be allowed out the door until I've put a screen protector on - apparently the screen is made from the softest plastic known to choose your gender designation or not. Meanwhile, soaking up all the knowledge I can. Enjoyed your video. Finding that sixpence I thought a real thrill. Will be stocked when I find something like that. Your commitment to minimal disturbance is awesome. I like the fact that you don't edit out the parts where you don't have success and that you bag the things of no value. Regarding the laws, I'm aware I have to obtain a permit, but what are the regulations governing a park like that. Are we free to search and keep?
Thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it. I like to represent metal detecting exactly as it is. It doesn't always go to plan! As for the rules and regulations, it varies depending on where you are. Here in Queensland, the only real no-go areas are State Forests, National Parks, Conservation Reserves and private property without permission. Other states have different rules. For example, NSW allows you to use a detector in State Forests with a permit. If you want to detect in parks, check with the by-laws of the local council. Most councils will allow you to use a detector, but might have rules about disturbing the soil.
Love the impression the 5 Cent Coin left. Congrats on the 5 Cent Coin. Take Care
I never seem to find many coin impressions, so it's nice to see one every once in a while!
Beautiful 1942 6 Pence Coin. Congrats Take Care
Thanks! Finidng silver is such a rush!
Congrats on the 20 Cent Coin. Take Care
Thanks!
Thought there would be some more predecimals for sure! Keep at it. 🕺🏼
I thought so too! Maybe the area has been picked mostly clean? I have another two school sites up my sleeve I'm hoping will yield better.
Can Slaw yuck. Hope you found what you were hoping for. Take Care
Indeed, and this park was full of it. I did, however, get one particularly nice find.
@@SunstateMetalDetecting That's cool. Congrats. I've been on a can slaw week so far.
I would be OVER THE MOON ,to find that,Great find ❤
Thanks!
Very cool looking 1919 Copper. I love watching you find the oder Coins. Congrats Take Care
Thanks! I hope to find many more
Hi Keiran - Another great video thankyou, Just want to share my find yesterday. It was a brass petrol cap off a 1908 Model T Ford. Was very happy :)
Wow, that's an awesome find! Well done 👌
See you next week, Kieran.
See you then! Thanks for watching!
AM/FM push button radios were from the 70’s and early80’s. The sixties radios weren’t that sophisticated.
Good to know!
Mate, I try to get on every week. Been out all day and on my iPad tonight rather than my laptop. I haven’t been able to get out with my manticore for a little while though and am suffering withdrawals!
I get the itch too when I haven't been out for a while!
Btw, it’s Dave here.
Good to see you again!
Hi Kieran, how has your week been?
G'day, good thanks!
Congrats on the 5 Cent Coin. I feel you on the tree. We have 4 to 6 feet tall sagebrush here in Nevada where I'm at. I've had a few great signals to where I couldn't pass them up. It's payed off a few times. Get alot of scratches and cuts sometimes retrieving the signals. Take Care
People often look at me strangely when they see me wearing long sleeve trousers and shirts in the heat of summer. I wear them all the time for exactly that reason.
I wish I was as smart as you. I'm the guy they see wearing shorts outside when it snows. All year around.
So sad. I'm finding those in the small town I live in. Up in the Hills. We should always wear gloves. Take Care
It has become a big problem everywhere, both in big cities and small towns.
So much truth to that
Liberal governments will get you that
It sure is a problem
Hope you found some great stuff. A 20 Cent Coin you mentioned. I wish I could find a 20 Cent Coin here in the States. It's a rare one here. Take Care
Interesting! I never knew you had anything other than the penny, nickel, dime, quarter, half dollar and dollar.
They were minted 1875 to 1878. They weren't a popular coin back then. Now, there pretty valuable if you can happen to find one. I haven't seen any one dig one up yet. We also have a Trime a Silver three cent Coin. A Beautiful 2 Cent Coin also. All of these are on my Bucket List. There's older Coins back east I'll never find living on the west side of the States. Take Care
Excellent piece of History behind that Button. Congrats Thank you for sharing. Take Care
