Today we get out for another sail in the West Wight Potter 15. She stands up really well in the wind and the waves on the big water. Great Fall Adventure! If you like small boat sailing and cruising, join our Facebook Group "The Can-Am Dinghy Cruising Association"! We do many small boat cruises and get togethers throughout the year (as well as meet up on line)! groups/382294711567997/
West Wight Potter 15 - Solo Fall Adventure!
Просмотров 958Месяц назад
Taking my West Wight Potter 15 on a solo overnight trip at the end of the season. This cruise takes place in the middle of October in the southern Georgina Bay area - launching from Penetanguishene (Pentetang) Ontario. If you like this type of cruising, join us on Facebook at the Can-Am Dinghy Cruising Association! We do many cruises together throughout the year!
I had a Force 5 back in the day and I always thought the WWP was a cool boat. Thanks for the ride!
Do you think anyone will pickup the design of the Potter and make more of them?
I really don't know - it would be great if they did tho!
Good info.
This channel just popped up. I was so surprised to see it is yours. I just recently found Four String Strummer and have been working on that for the last couple of weeks.
@@brucewhisennand7859 hahaha! Me and me fun pass times! Welcome!! Kelly
Watching from Brisbane, Australia. Unfortunately, we only get 12 good sailing months per year.
@@ahydraulicmonkey3265 you're killing me...time to move!
Very good video. I’ve seen a few potters around. I know you have your hands full, but a few drone shots would be great. Where were you sailing?
This was just west of Toronto on Lake Ontario. I'm considering a drone for the coming season so stay tuned! Right now we're planning for the Manitoulin 250 coming up in July - can't wait!!
Ahhh, this was fun to watch. Thanks. She rides those swells and whitecaps like a champ. Dry!
Thanks Eric - ya it is a fun boat and seems to really handle things well!
Excellent story telling. Wonderful to watch your adventure. Sounds like the boat was new to you then. They are great little vessels.
Hey Eric! Thanks - I'd just picked this boat up about a month or so before this trip. I also have a CL16 (Canadian Wayfarer clone) that I love. Both excellent small boats for cruising. Kelly
Enjoyed the video and your thoughts on cooking. I don't know what it takes, but many like videos have a list in the description of all the items with an Amazon link that makes it easy to buy and, they say, give you a shekel or two for your efforts.
Thanks very much! I don't really have enough subscribers/videos out yet for monetized links but that's a good thought for the future! As you say it makes it easier for folks to buy. Glad you liked it! Kelly
Great info. I just found your channel. I live in New Hampshire and have wanted to get into micro cruising for a while.
@@markgallagher1376 hey Mark! It's a blast. Join our Facebook group " The Can-Am Dinghy Cruising Association". We have lots of events throughout the season. Mostly in Ontario - not too far - come on up and join us - great group of guys. We'll be putting our 2025 calendar of events out in the new year. Kelly
Great video Kelly. I have one of those stanley kits as well. Love those classic green cups..cold or hot. Great find on the collapsible sink. It sure makes clean up a breeze. And the important dishsoap and clean up stuff. We should do a food video next sailing season. Would be fun to see what people are preparing and see different approaches to meals.
Exactly - we could contrast my style of hot dogs with your fancy Polish sausages!
@PotterOnTheWater oh btw nice toaster gadget. Where did you pick it up
Nice setup ,this is what you need for few days CanAm trip 😊
Thanks Stan! Works for me! Kelly
Left Handed Can Opener? I'm always struggling as some don't work for me! Great Kit Kelly! The adaptor is a good thing to have too! BestRoy
All you have to do is stand on your head - problem solved!😂
@PotterOnTheWater lol!
Very nice Kelly 👍😎
Thanks Daniel! Glad you liked it! Kelly
Great video, thanks for sharing, I felt like I was there!
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it!! Kelly
Nice to see you, this is Mitch from Small Sailboat Big Water. I just subscribed and look forward to seeing more videos. That’s a great looking Potter.
Hey Mitch - thanks! Stay tuned for more. I've also enjoyed videos on you r channel as well! Kelly
I have the same boat. An 81 wwp15 red hull.
I love the look of it!
So glad you've taken to the Potter. It's such a fun and predictable boat.
@@Silent_Joy LOVE it!! Btw the guy from the OBX 130 said late August or early Sept...they haven't set a firm date yet :)
I used to sail my nordica and mirror very early and very late in season. Frequently only boat out there. Only coastguard or polive boat checking if i was "ok"? Maybe not crazy haha
Hey Arek! Ya there weren't too many people out there! The police boat actually did cruise by at one point! A couple of boats came out later in the afternoon - probably once people got off work they were able to get out for a little while .
Nice Kelly Good ole lake ontario. Sailed out of that park many times
It's such a great facility! Good ramps, washrooms, tons of parking and all free!!
@@PotterOnTheWater i know eh. Best thing for quick sails is that you can go right out and go. Either left or right. I often sailed the coast for fun poking around towards oakville or so.usually upwind and then fun coming back
It's tougher and tougher to not want a Potter 15 after watching videos like this. Nicely done
I would buy one again in a heartbeat. For me and the type of sailing I want to do it's the best so far!
Classic lake Ontario, gotta find a bright plaid lifejacket tho.
That would be the ultimate in saftey wear!
PS, I know those wave/swells are bigger than they look on camera!
Yep. It never quite shows on camera - it wasn't too crazy - largest swells were about 4 feet - enough to keep me "busy" tho for sure!
I'm jealous!!! I'm glad you got to get out Kelly while I'm splitting firewood!!! I'm not upset at all!!!!!! Lol! I like it when the wind starts light and builds! Gearing up.
It was a great day (for splitting wood too...almost as much fun 😂)
@@fourstringstrummer I'm heading out for the last batch now. We will be warm for the winter! But I've been looking at this last warm spell, day dreaming of the trip I could have taken! Glad you got out Kelly! AllthebestRoy
Looking for the beef 😅
...and I didn't have my glasses!!
Nice video, and it looks like a nice place for a sail.
@@svslowmotion6611 it is a really nice area. We were up there the week before with the Can-Am Dinghy Cruising Association for a weekend rally and had a blast. I have a bunch of photos from that too. I may do up a little "slide show" video from that as well.
Nice ride Kelly;wish be there. Thanks for great video.
Hey Stan! ya it was a fun trip - it had a bit of everything. Now I'm going to get to work on some additions/improvements over the cold months!
Thanks for the ride, Kelly! BestRoy
Glad you liked it Roy!!
Wish I could have been there.
You would've loved it Marty. We should do an east coast trip next year!
That would be great! I will make it for one cruise in Ont next season.
I missed Penetang 2024 due to a previous commitment so it was nice to batch your video. My WWP15 has everything cleaned for winter, motor and gear oil changed, sailed safely stowed so mice can’t get them. Let me know when you head out in the Spring and we can do a Potter formation….
Sounds great Hugh! Stephan (another WWP owner) and I are already planning Potter adventures! Follow along on the Can-Am Facebook group - we'll be posting updates! Kelly
hahah american food
nothin' but the finest imported cuisine!
Nice.
Thanks Peter!
