I'm currently putting my first airbrush setup together. I'm finding it really frustrating that quick disconnects aren't avaliable in the range of fittings easily avaliable for standard 1/4 or 3/8 air lines. For instance iv fitted a disconnect at the regulator as my compressor has to be stored when not in use and its easier to store the air line separately rather than wrap it around the compressor. On regular commercial air hoses the disconnect fittings come with otions for a barb or a male or female thread. As the airbrush hose has 1/8 female fittings at both ends iv had to order a 1/8 male to 1/8 male joiner to add the disconnect fitting for the compressor end of the hose. It would be so much easier if there was a readily avaliable 1/8 to 5mm disconnect. This would help minimise the number of potential failure points in the system also.

I recently replaced the complete air valve assembly in a (Badger) Thayer & Chander Omni 5000 (with the correct one size fits all Badger air valve part). Upon initial use post fitting it with this new sub-assembly, I experienced precisely this "no air" problem as you describe it. Being 'Captain Crosscheck' by training, I had double checked all parts were assembled correctly, lubed and the airbrush properly cleaned, but hadn't disassembled the new valve assembly assuming it OK. I have two other Badger double action airbrushes working just fine with the exact same air valve and air feed system, as this one had been before losing parts of the air valve (long story) subsequently purchasing and fitting an entirely new air valve sub-assembly. So I was able to eliminatively test everything from the compresser, through water trap & QR connector w/air flow adjuster up. Both other Badgers confirmed working as they should, it had to be this new air valve. Having checked everything else -figuratively scratches head, I removed and dissasembled the new air valve assembly to check the integrity and prescence of all components. Everything there, no air holes blocked, nothing obvious except the plunger and 'O' ring were seated noticeably firmly in the valve body. Upon removal I noted the inner of the 'O' ring rubber had stuck itself to the plunger. Everything disassembled, cleaned with airbrush cleaner and drying, I now have the 'O' ring sitting in our 25C midday spring sunshine as I type. I'll give it 90 minutes exposure, 45 ea side. I am surmising a swelled 'O' ring as described in your explanatory video was/is the problem, as it is the only non-obvious thing it appears it could be nothing else reasonably probable presenting. I'll follow this up with an edit later today to confirm whether the direct exposure to sunshine and warmth on the 'O' ring resolved the problem in my case. Fingers crossed. 🤞

Hello, and thank you for this video. I have a couple of questions for you. The first is what size hex/allen key are you using for the screw. The second is I just got my Patriot, and there is close to no air coming out when I depress the trigger. It can still back flush but I don't think that it is getting enough air to draw out any paint even with the trigger pulled all the way back. Any advice would be helpful.

I can't believe a person does not know how to clean his airbrush. I clean mine after every use. Those parts on the nose of the airbrush should only be finger tight. If it leaks around the threads, use some chapstick lip balm on the threads and it will seal them. At least it works on my Anthem 155. Badger designed this airbrush to be assembled and disassembled without the use of any tools. I keep a quick disconnect on my Badger and swap it back and forth between the Badger Anthem and my Harbor Freight .3mm Avanti gravity fed airbrush. I took the air valve apart and clipped off a round of the spring to lighten the touch and now I've got it just where I like it. I use a little water soluble glycerin in my airbrush cleaner to keep the airbrush lubed. Cheers from eastern TN

why does that one have such a large cap between the plastic and the brush? mine isnt like that and it also doesnt come to a sharp point like that.

Mine is even older with the straight pipe that screws into the paint bottle cap. Still used often.

The 105 typically comes with the blue needle (mine did when I bought it several years ago)

I mix water with some Baking Soda to make a paste and lightly scrub the miniature with a soft bristle tooth brush... I've done this with old Minifigs, Heritage and Superior Models minis that were funky and they look like new now. Baking Soda is a very mild abrasive, so I see that as a bonus because it will help paint stick better to the surface.

Is it possible to replace a needle and a nozzle for something more detailed? It comes with 0.5, can I get 0.2 for this model?

I've got the same make of airbrush as the 1 in the video, purchased from first release. It is in immaculate condition and still works fine. Painting planes, ships and 'OO' trains also the railway scenery.

Bless you, mate! First time airbrush owner here, I was having the opposite problem (air constantly coming out), and was at my wits end trying to figure out what was going wrong. Watched this and was able to figure out what I was missing and solved the issue! Thanks a bunch!

Proof if it was needed that a good man knows his limitations. I enjoy your videos, but am really quite surprised that so many people who send their airbrushes in just don't seem to have a grasp of how the things work, or what they are trying to do when they take them apart and randomly put various bits back together. It's not like there aren't plenty of video guides explaining cleaning and all that. Also - a little moan to Badger really - You make the needle sizes easy to identify, could you not make the tips equally easy to identify like H&S do? (Not everyone is a 'Steve')

What did you use to deep clean those dirty parts

I have a 105. My first foray into spraying alcad aluminum yesterday was a disaster. I am meticulous with cleaning my airbrush thoroughly after each use. Yesterday it heaved and spat globs of metal onto my p47 thunderbolt. I stripped it down and cleaned it again, put it back together and now the brand new needle valve is acting up. I push down and I get paint where it should be just air. Stripped the valve, made sure it was clean. Now it functons but I dont trust it 😅 I will receive some regdab tomorrow. I've never lubed my patriot ( 3 yrs problem free). The only reason I replaced the needle valve was because I damaged the air hose threads on it. When I push down on the trigger (no airline attached) it doesn't feel "right". I'm hoping lube sorts it out.

Do you offer this service?im having an issue with mine. It only works in single action.
