i completely disagree. this show does not know its audience. why take all the jokes out, if it's for kids? why take all the fight scenes out? why turn every tense scene into a bland exposition dump? why remove all the exciting scenes? so many people praise this show and repeat that it is the way it is because it's for kids. but then why is grey and drab and why are all the jokes removed? why is annabeth a stoic child soldier? book annabeth is actually relatable to children her age. so is book percy. it's also not faithful to the books at all. percy is a different character. annabeth is a different character. sally is a different character. dionysus is a different character. luke is a different character. grover is a different character. poseidon is a different character. zeus is a different character. hades is a different character. ares is a different character. medusa is a different character. its literally just not faithful to the books. like at least don't lie lmao riordan doesn't know his own books. percy and annabeth don't realize it's medusa because they're tired and hungry and 12 years old and their desire to rest and eat hamburgers trumps their instinct to run away from danger. literally the second theyre done eating and have regained their senses they realize it's medusa. reading about monsters is VERY different to facing them in person. that's the POINT. the mist works on demigods too. thats the point. they are 12 years old and on their own. thats literally the fucking point

The show is obviously a more accurate adaptation and definitely a better story overall. But it was honestly still really disappointing to me. It's just so... lifeless to me. So much of the humour and action from the books is missing. If it's really aimed at middle schoolers, you'd think those are the things that they would zero in on. The fun, the thrills, the action. But it's completely lacking in tension or even FUN. And I do think the exposition is a huge problem. It works in the books, but in a visual medium, exposition needs to be conveyed in more interesting ways than in dry conversations. (Or at the very least make the conversations more visually interesting).

Rebooting Harry Potter as a streaming show is a dumb idea. No matter what they do or how accurate the show to the books are they can never reach the massive generational and global influence and success of the movies. People want new stories, new characters and new settings in the Wizarding World and I'm saying this as a huge Potterhead. They kinda already did that with the Fantastic Beasts films with the only problem with it being not planned as an overarching saga.

It's a good idea to plan for now ahead of time as they will need to plan multiple seasons for each book / movie they have to adapt and not only that they will have to find new ways to improve/ make each season as original but not as similar to the book adaptation and Movies while still extending on them with the stuff they couldn't add on to each movie they made

Book accurate, Book accurate and screaming Book accurate and still left out the one thing that would make it book accurate. They forgot to make it entertaining. It didn't just feel rushed but in some parts it was just plain boring and a slog to get through.

My biggest issue was it felt like the show was talking down to us. It almost always immediately points out who and what mythological things are whereas the books give their readers a little time to figure it out beforehand. Really hope this changes going forward but idk if it will. Also in regards to faithfulness to the books. Feel like that’s unfortunately a monster Rick created himself. He shouldn’t have hyped up how it would be the most accurate book adaptation ever and all that jazz it created a lot of expectations that were way too high and as a result let a lot of people down

While I wish JK Rowling would cool it, the whole reason a person transitions is due to not feeling like they belong in their own body (often after being torchured for years by said feeling) Trying to rip away the little relief they get and spamming “you’re not a real woman” is essentially just kicking someone who was already down which is what she’s devoted all her time and energy to now And based on her commentary she either doesn’t care or doesn’t understand that That being said the Harry Potter franchise is massive worth about 25 billion so even 10% of that is still a massive cash cow (and I doubt it would shrink that much) of the fans who disagree with JK not all are willing to boycott a series that means the world to them Plus there is growing commentary on how the books are different from the movies these days (would be nice to see Ron retain his good moments for example) I think it would be much easier for people to boycott a sequel series than it would the original, so its actually brilliant if not diabolical

The whole JK Rowling hate is a very, very tiny minority of people. Mostly it’s Gen Z with the issues, and Gen Z isn’t the target audience of the show. Even most of Gen Z doesn’t care. When reviewers bring JK Rowling hate into their reviews, I immediately turn down any arguments being made - as it’s obvious the person has a bias.

You gotta keep in mind, they’re kids, they’re hungry and tired. None of them had bumped into Medusa before, it’s a lot different seeing her in person than hearing her from the myth itself. It wouldn’t been that obvious to them to quickly identify she’s Medusa. I thought the books handled this fine. Though I really liked the conversation between them and Medusa in the Tv show

my main problem with the season is that it fails to “show not tell”. Everything that happens is explained by grover and/or annabeth before it happens, versus the books where percy came to conclusions himself. And my minor detail moment was when percy had his sword to face the minotaur already. Not that he had to be unarmed, but I liked how the sword was given to him later on by chiron as a supposed gift from Poseidon. aside from that, I liked your takes! You deserve more subs!

Part of me is excited to see the Harry Potter show, especially since I missed out the release schedule wait the books and movies had. Especially if they use the fourth season is the do over and adaption Goblet of Fire deserves. But at the same time, if there is going to be a wizarding world tv series, I would rather have something new or at least something that could open the doors for more stories. I would rather have this new series be an adaption of Hogwarts Mystery, it has a good storyline, it is a prequel (it takes place during the 7 years before Harry, Ron and Hermione went to Hogwarts) and it has a lot of potential on expanding the story and it's characters. These characters should have the same spotlight and recognition as all the others, but many are missing out and Warner Bros are missing out on a chance to make a good show based on this game. Plus it's obvious video game movies are working out and succeeding, look at the Sonic movies, The Super Mario Bros, Friday night at Freddie's and the Last of us for example, they were all based on video games and they were hits in the box office. Why not make Hogwarts Mystery into a tv series?

This show has a higher chance of succeeding then the PercyJackson show which dropped out of nielsens charts barely a month after its first season concluded, never to pop up again in nielsens list. Harrypotter sold 500 million copies by 2018 and still managed to sell 100 million copies throughout covid up to 2022 for a final total of 600 million copies sold worldwide. Combined with the lowest grossing wizard world film making more money then the lowest glossing starwars, mcu and DC films plus High game sales of nearly a billion earned in revenue and a steady park business . Not to mention of the 11 installments, 10 of the films have decent to excellent critical reviews/praise. But yes despite evidence to the contrary, the show will fail because a bunch of Hates, fake fans, disloyal ex fans, conditional fans and DEI snowflakes say it will fail. Haters just want it to fail to justify their social political position and victory over central and right wing politics. Its sickening such people exist in both the wizardingworld harry potter fandom and other fandoms. Almost as sick has having genuine racists apart of a fandom.
