Japanese song from PGR 1. Microsoft never released an official OST, game rip audio. As far as I can tell all the Japanese artists used pen names or are indie and very hard to find. Very nice Japanese music, though.

Any other recommendations for music like this? I'm surprised she wasn't bigger, but honestly out of all the Japanese music around I still think this type of 80s/90s Japanese rock isn't appreciated much by foreigners at all. We've always liked music from anime, but recently foreigners discovered "citypop" so music like 1986 Omega Tribe, Tomoko Aran, Tatsuro Yamashita, etc, and the records have gone up a lot in value and it's a new trendy thing. For whatever reason Japanese rock from this era still isn't thought of much by foreigners at all. Foreigners really only like Japanese rock from about the visual kei era and today's era, like Malice Mizer, X-Japan, etc, which is good, too, but I think singers like Akira Sudou, Show-Ya, Saori Saitoh, and Mari Hamada are really great as well, but I've met almost no foreigners into that kind of music at all.

To add to this, I think we might find some insight by looking into the previous game in the series, Metropolis Street Racer. Much of that game's soundtrack was actually done by Richard Jacques, in what was presented as a licensed soundtrack but was in fact, largely if not entirely, an OST. I can't help wondering if there's something similar going on here. Obviously there are verifiable individual artists on this soundtrack: David Lee Roth, Saliva, Spacehog, Iggy Pop, and so on. However, given the diverse needs of the soundtrack, it wouldn't surprise me at all if some genres were filled out by a hired gun in much the same way as MSR. That would be a good explanation for some of these apparent one-off artists.
