Film Never Died For Us: A Seawood Story | Portrait Of A Place
Просмотров 4885 месяцев назад
In the late 2000's Kodak began demolishing the buildings on it's campus. The world declared "film is dead". But for Seawood Photo, a long time fixture in San Rafael, California since 1947, and home to the largest vintage camera collection in the state, film never died. And when the "resurrection" of film happened it was just business as usual for Seawood. Forever faithful to the alchemy and che...

@@johndavidlevy7 for sure not!🙌
does anyone know if these are currently available? If so, where?
To the best of my knowledge these guys have stopped making them. I believe there are a couple other guys out there making them, and I've seen some on ebay as well.
I was really impressed with the results, I'm going you try some HP5 in my Olympus mju zoom 105. I've added your channel, hopefully you'll connect with another retro 35mm film photographer 📸?
Very nice capture of mood!
Thank you! I was looking for inspiration for a short and this really helped! Awesome job!
Thanks so much! This was part of my "make a film without a camera" challenge.
Well, I'm interested, BUT I don't have money to tie up like that. I tend to NOT trust a business when their site is down and there is no correspondence AND they have your money. Maybe when they become more stable I would consider buying their back, but right now, I just have a very uneasy feeling about doing business with them. Maybe that will change one day. Just not a sound business practice not being able to contact them.
Yeah I ordered a little before the pandemic and it starts coming and never came been waiting and contacting and nothing
Beautiful!
Thank you! Looking forward to seeing your work!!!
Looks very cool
Beautiful photos and a nice video. I found a medium format negative in a Ferrania canister shot around 1950s somewhere in Australia but there are no edge markings or any other way to identify the film as Ferrania. I am wondering if your negative has any edge marks.
The juxtaposition of your whispers against the loud visuals is beautiful!
Molto bello!
A hypnotic sensory experience. The sound , the movement of the actresses , the slow motion.. everything is fitting
Thank you so much!
Great work!
Well done. The acting and cinematography are really interesting. I ssubscribed to the channell! Cheers!
Thank you! Love your channel!
@@johndavidlevy7 Thank you very much for your support! Let's keep in touch for futher opportunities
Wow, super nice video! Keep up the great content. Greetings from another creator :)
Thank you so much!
I've been trying to get my hands on one! Wish the site was working!
Yeah, the process of getting in touch with them and then getting my hands on the Back was very long. CCW is a small operation with big vision. I think with more funding and interest they'll eventually have a more consistent production process. The should crowdfund. Not sure why they haven't. The pandemic almost certainly made it harder for them. I had to reach out to them on every platform repeatedly. Basically, I became super annoying. Eventually, they got back to me. I pre-purchased 6 months in advance. Didn't hear back for a while and then the website went dark. A couple months later they got back to me to let me know the Backs were ready and a couple weeks later I finally received mine. After all was said and done; it was worth the wait and every penny.
@@johndavidlevy7 Im sure they would hit any goal they set if they crowd funded for sure. Specially with film growing so much again.

Glad to see they’re back! Coyote never answered my Facebook message 🙄🙄

Where can I find one of these? I’ve tried looking online and have no luck.
@@johndavidlevy7 can you tell me how much it was? I’m basically in the first part of the process. Going on every platform trying to get a reply haha. But just in case it’s super expensive I wanna have something set aside for when they reply
@@xpoint023 For sure; It was $369. And for me, it was worth it. I love Polaroid and I love 120. And this in the long run was just a much more cost-efficient way for me to enjoy shooting both those aesthetics at a much lower cost.
