While you don't get the infinite ammo that the original RE3 had, the Rai-Den can count towards magnum kills(and is very helpful in some situations), the Infinite CQBR is fun as heck, and the Rocket Launcher is just fun overkill. The infinite MUP can be useful until you get the iCQBR, though

Original, no contest. 4 unique scenarios, a cohesive narrative, better character moments. The only things RE2R did better was specifically the R.P.D. atmosphere and HUNKs 4th Survivor mode.

There is no comparison re2 is the most iconic game ever .. . Re2 remake is the best rendition of a remake possible... One isn't the other and both are the best in their own rights. I love them both... Remake the remake I'll buy it!!!

I'm really biased towards the originals so everytime I play the RE2 Remake I can't help but to think how much better the game could've been if they included all the soul of the original. It's a great love letter to the original, but it could've been so much better. Maybe if Capcom wasn't developing RE3 Remake at the same time, they could've had the extra man power to make RE2 Remake absolutely perfect. I wouldn't had minded if they gave us the A scenarios first and then added the B scenarios as a dlc.

If you take the games for when they were made, the original is clearly better. RE2 never would be able to compete with its remake graphically or environmentally, the technology was just too limited. However, innovation is where they can compete. RE2r was a great game but didn’t do anything too different. My best explanation would be this: RE1r did everything RE1 did and then some RE2r (and RE3r) didn’t do quite as much as their counterparts. That’s not to say RE2r (or RE3r) were bad games. They were both good. I’d even argue RE2r was a good remake (RE3r was a below average remake) but RE1r is still the GOAT of remakes. It just improved upon every aspect of the original game where 2 and 3 remakes didn’t do quite enough.

OG2 bc it has an actual fully developed plot that makes sense and not too complex but still very human and relatable characters

I like the original better. I think that the remakes gameplay is great, and the graphics look good, but I think the dialog, the characterization I think is the correct word, and the story are a downgrade from the original. Chief Irons got the biggest downgrade in character from the original.

Along with innovative gameplay features for the time, 1998 RE2 had a plot/story line that easily raised it into the realm of film and novels. RE2R, while having modern graphics, sound and gameplay, discards the story line that originally set it apart from other games.

Resident evil 2 remake re ignited my love for the entire franchise. After 6 and Revelations, it just felt like they lost touch with what we fell in love with in the first place. The remake captured everything for me what made the original 2 so special. Running through the streets, sheltering in the police department, fighting hordes of zombies in locations that felt more real then a mansion in the woods. Its a love letter from Capcom to us fans and you can feel it. They respected the original game, and us gamers. It brought back the same tension I had playing the Original back in my teens.

I love both but the remake is definitely the better game. The cut content isn’t as big of a deal as most people say it is and the remake is so much better mechanically and visually that it makes up for it. They’re both in the top 5 (RE remake, both RE2’s and both RE4’s) of RE games regardless of which one someone likes more so it doesn’t really matter 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

For me RE2make is a great game but a pretty poor remake. I feel it cut and changed too much for no good reason: no B scenarios so half the story of the original wasn't even remade, barely any interaction between Leon and Claire over the course of the game, and characterization being a lot worse for some people (especially Claire, Irons and Annette imo). I think it bugs me so much because some of the stuff they did in the remake is amazing but they didn't go all the way. Like the reworked RPD expands the layout a ton while still feeling faithful to the original, but then the sewers and lab are pretty much unrecognizable from their original counterparts. Or how enemies like zombies and lickers feel much better to fight in the remake, but then they cut out a ton of the supporting enemy types which helped add variety to the original. Imagine if instead of cutting something they worked on expanding it. Like bring back the zapping system and let you influence the other character even more than the original. Or build on the A/B scenario differences so in one scenario Leon actually met Irons and Claire met Ben.

For now, it's just the original for me. I loved playing the original Resident Evil 2 game as a teenager.

I played Resident Evil (1) in about 1997, 1998. That means, back in the days when RE2 and RE3 came out. While I still play these two in all their original glory up until today, I never ever played RE1 since the Remake came out.

Street Fighter x Tekken is what killed Darkstalkers: Resurrection. It failed so bad, it cost Capcom a ton of money. The original Darkstalkers: Resurrection (the one the trailer was made for with new original CGI models) was put on hold, which lead to what we got as a "test". But at that point, was just a re-re-release of something we'd already played before for 10+ years. So blame Street Fighter x Tekken for being a financial flop for why Darkstalkers hasn't been given another chance.

What i love about Darkstalkers is despite being a "spooky" fighter with mythical beings and such, its got nice quirkiness to it and gives extra fun to the characters that are unexpected. Its why I love Morrigan. Sure she is hot and good looking on the outside, but she can also be funny as well. And the Felicia ending you mentioned was cute too!

The remakes better because its the original but more. Its not like the 2nd and 3rd remakes where they removed large sections of the game. They added new monsters and locations and it all felt like it belonged. I love the original its the first game i ever played but the remakes beats it

The original is better because it has a much better soundtrack and the awful voice acting makes it more memorable, everyone in the remake is just under the effect of Xanax, they sound bored.

I think this game can still have another remake for PS5 and PC with better graphics, ultrawide resolution support and burnable objects like carpets to kill multiple zombies/monsters in a room, however this can only be done once with incendiary round grenade launcher. Droppable objects would also be good such as shooting down a chandelier from the ceiling down to kill multiple zombies could also work really well. Brute forcing your way through certain wooden doors with enough shotgun shells/grenade launcher rounds would be a nice addition too instead of unlocking them with a key. More randomly generated complex puzzles, manual lockpicking adjustment at keyhole level would work wonders for the game too! These are all my wishful thinking for Capcom 😍🤓

Hated the crimson heads, zombies can’t run, and the dagger self defense weapon should have been an insta-kill since it’s directly into the zombie’s head. Besides that, love the remake.

If you like REALLY good remakes, you should play SystemShock Remake. It is on par with the dead space remake.(A little more challenging tho)

I like the grit and grunge of the original a lot better because it feels spookier, but the new combat/weapon upgrade system and interconnected levels of the remake are hard to pass up.

Resident Evil 2 Remake is a horrible Remake. Just as bad as re3r. They removed everything that made Re2 different. The A and B scenarios were actually scenarios! They just changed who you fight at the end and who gets to meet Marvin. That's literally it. No I interactions with Leon and Claire, Leon with Sherry, Mr X was supposed to be only on B scenario. The Berkin fight was supposed to be different and more evolved in "2nd run", and the zapping system was removed. Just a trash of a Remake.

Better original

I wish they would have brought crimson heads in resident evil 0. I also thought it was better with fewer enemies with having to conserve ammo as well. But then when they remade RE2 and 3, I was not happy that they eliminated the spiders and the crows. They were often an great addition to the game. So then you have better graphics but with cut content.

I prefer the original, the remake added a lot to it and is an improvement in many many ways but I felt the pacing suffered quite a lot for my experience. It's a bit too long for my preference, the first game had it running smoothly. The Mansion, the Woodhouse, the Cave and lastly the Underground Lab was fine.

RE remake is the best Resident Evil ever

I honestly can't decide which one is better. REmake is the perfect Resident Evil game, as well as the blueprint for making a perfect video game remake. However the original is iconic in its own right, and while the dialogue is silly, it still makes me believe in what is said. It still manages to sell me the feeling of being in danger, unlike the dialogue in many of the modern RE games. The music is far superior too.

Resident Evil is my favorite game of all time. Been playing since '96 when the kid next door (R.I.P. Steve) lent it to us. Still remember me and my brothers huddled around the tv in the dark and being scared lol Personally think the remake is better, but love both versions.
