The USS Oriskany was the first US aircraft carrier commissioned after WWII. It saw action in Korea and Vietnam before being decommissioned in the 1990's and finally sunk by the Navy off of Pensacola, Florida to create an artificial reef and dive site.

Night diving at "Ark Dive" spot on Sunabe Sea Wall in Okinawa, Japan. We saw two enormous "basket stars," which are echinoderms related to sea stars and brittle stars and are uncommon to find.

We saw this very big octopus hanging out with a large grouper at around 110' at the Toilet Bowl in Okinawa.

This appears to be a Thysanozoon nigropapillosum, a yellow-speckled flatworm commonly found on reefs in the Indo-Pacific. Watch how it swims through the water!

"Ark Dive" spot off of Sunabe Seawall in Okinawa, Japan. We saw several cuttle fish, a baby octopus, and an unusual sponge crab.

I had no idea what the heck this was when we found it, but it's a sponge crab. Apparently, they use their pincers to cut off a piece of sponge to use as shelter. The sponge grows along side the crab. It has two back legs that are turned upwards to hold the sponge in place. Fascinating!
