I had purchased one of the older models at the end of April 2024. It was a long hot and dry summer so we only had to cut the grass half as much as normal. By the time the 15th of October came around the lawn mower was dead. They told me it cannot be repaired because the motor is no longer being manufactured and there are no replacement parts. After having several rounds with DeWalt and 3 1/2 months later, they are finally taking responsibility for their defective product and replaced it with a new model. I'm not sure I'm going to like the new model as it seems as though it's less robust or sturdy. It also sounds from this gentleman's testing here the new one does not have the RPMs the old one did. The higher the RPM the more even and nicer-looking cut. It's now the last week of January 2025, so it will be some time before I'm able to put the mower to the test. The DeWalt rap tried to convince me that this new mower is 10 times better than the old... We'll see.

I love mine . It serves me well. That even my wife will use it and likes it. The 21 inch cut . From home depot. And yes that 10 ah is awesome

Thank you for very much for this comparison video. I have the old lawn mower (LM) acquired back in 2019 and after just 8 months of ownership the motor failed. I got in touch with Dewalt service center store and they replaced it with a new one (shipped to my home). The tech guy in the store also advised me to avoid having the blade hitting big rocks, concrete to avoid damage to motor. In your video, I noticed (hearing) that the old LM is noisier and sounds like running on higher rev. I also invested in flexvolt batteries with higher capacity so I could use the LM longer and at the same time use the flexvolt batteries with other tools (present and future purchase) that requires 60V. Look like the new LM is has been improved a lot. I will consider this one in the future and still I am waiting if Dewalt will make a Snow blower... must be still on the drawing board.

I have an oil boiler with on-demand coil. Over the summer I added an electric hot water heater and the input to this hot water heater is the output from the coil. Now that it is cold and I am using the boiler for heat, I use the coil again. I installed valves at the electric hot water heater to stop water going into the heater. I shut off my boiler during warmer months and have no leaks. I see you stopped cold water from going into the coil but what happened to the water coming out of the coil?

I just recently installed my hot water same way. I was wondering if you have any concerns about bacteria growth in the water in the oil boiler’s coil? I’m thinking that adding 2 sets of valves on each side of the boiler. One inline valve on each side to disconnect it from the system and a tee’d valve to purge the water from coil using an air compressor Also, thanks for a great video.

What's your long-term opinion of the hybrid water heater's performance? New York is offering an instant $1K rebate on these and I'm heavily leaning towards bypassing my oil boiler, with one of these. Thanks so much for the thoughtful video!

About to move forward with this project. Think I want to have the boiler completely taken out of loop, and only use to heat house. Any update on venting . I see different opinions on venting or not of unit. Thanks for video.

Great video and just what I was looking for!!! I've been debating this same type of install and haven't been able to find anything on it till I found yours. Our situation is slightly different as we have an indirect hot water heater connected on a zone to the oil boiler. I'm planning first on testing what happens when I shut the boiler down to see if any leaks occur, but even if it does, I'll likely be turning on the boiler during the summer months once a week or so to prevent any valve sticking issues down the road. In your mind, would you think our install would be easier or about the same as your case scenario? The one thing I'm not sure about is what to do with our aquastat in our situation. Our indirect heater is I'm guessing over 30 years old, so I'm worried it's beyond it's life expectancy.

I wish I never bought this thing last year, still can't find a replacement blade for it.

Hey, i just got a hybrid unit installed. Is it best to bypass the boiler and just use the hybrid to heat the house and hot water. or is there a way to have the hybrid be primary and the oil system as a back up.

Great review sir!! Went all Dewalt yard tools this summer and waiting for my new Dewalt self-propelled (front) next week. I imagine I can use the 20 V 5AH batteries as "backup" for the mower? What is the spray you use for the undercarriage?

Everyone go green then . I just paid for a dewalt mower $599 + tax at home depot .( depend on your location tax ) . I can cutting grass anytimes of my spare times .Forget about gas mix and noise .No shitty smell too . Best choice i guess...Any opinion ?

Love your review...you sound like you might be from the Boston area. I'm from Long Island. I wish I knew about the new model! I bought the 220 this spring and while I love the way it performs, the batteries run out of juice so quickly and it takes so long for them to charge I can't mow my front and back lawn on the same day. (And they're pretty small suburban lawns.) I would have loved the larger batteries and longer run time.

I got a Toro stowaway personal pace gas mower I don't have to worry about stopping to charge I use 100% Gas it can sat for months and start right up side discharge is a must

What would you say if I told you that you just reviewed a Ryobi 40V 20" Self-propelled and a Ryobi 40V HP 21"? They're literally the exact same thing, same sound, same platform. I've sold 100 of both, but one brand costs 40% less. Oh, and they're both distributed by TTI in Anderson, S.C.

Just bought the new one. I think the reason it sounds lower in tone is because it has some sort of load sense. I've noticed when it gets to some heavy or dense grass it automatically speeds up. I guess this extends battery life. The reason I chose Dewalt over the others is due to the batteries that can be used in so many other tools. The mower is only going to be used for an hour a week at the most in the summer. All the rest of the time those batteries can be used to power an impact driver, circular saw or even a chain saw and a pair of 20V 10 AH batteries with chargers are worth close to the price you pay for the whole mower kit. Genius marketing because now I am vested in the entire Dewalt cordless power tool system.

Great review. I really needed to see the parts included since I'm buying a 1 time used 233U and wanted to make sure I get all the parts included. I also wanted to add that I'm starting to shy away from the 60v tools. Mainly because of the new line of 20v tools Dewalt started making and because the 60v batteries are ⅓ of their amp rating when used in the 60v tools. I can get much more out of my flexvolt batteries especially using then on the 20v platform. The new flexvolt 20v line are very powerful and compare well to the 60v line, without eating up the flexvolt batteries.

picked up a Craftsman V60 Self-Propelled 21" last year for $199 at Lowe's. Look like it do all the same thing as the Craftsman
