The ID.4 owners call the mileage reading in the ID instrument panel the "Guess O Meter." It is always variable because it calculates based on the current consumption. The speed at which air drag starts to rise rapidly is about 48 miles per hour. It's likely you reduced your range driving faster than that. Many ICE vehicles have a good range until the speed is increased to 72 mph. You're definitely risking a complete depletion, shutdown, and a tow job. Prius cars can be run in snail mode. A lot of owners found out that doing this destroyed their batteries ($$$$). You've taken a huge risk unnecessarily.

I have two of these with hundreds of hours on each. One of the keys to keeping these running long term is to install an in line fuel filter to prevent the the carburetor from gumming up. Also, use the drain plug on the bottom of the carb to totally drain the carb. Personally, I make it a point after use to drain all the gas from both the tank and the carb. And always use fuel stabilizer with stored gas. Also change the oil faithfully. Do these things and they will last thousands of hours.

Are you concerned with the high THD with the use of sensitive electronics when it is hooked up to your house or camper?

I love how you say to have it be a down day in between the parks. I have been coming here since I was a baby and I am now 33. We used to take days in between the park days just to relax at the resort. There's so much to do there.

The best speed vs efficiency on the highway is around 58-64mph.

Were you driving on B mode the whole time? My eGolf is way more efficient on the highway in regular Drive and letting the car “coast.” When in traffic and normal roads, yea go B mode or some level of recuperation. If you’re in Tampa I’m assuming you had the AC on? That will obviously consume power. Raising the temp a few degrees will give you have some range (minimal).

So if this was an ICE car would anyone one at 75 MPH while your gas gauge dropped below "E" AND who wants to find out what happens when you run out of GO juice?

As a longtime EV driver, I highly recommend exiting the expressway and taking slower surface streets when you’re running low. Higher speeds beyond about 50 MPH/80 kmh are much less efficient in EVs. The stop and go at slower speed is almost always better, counter to ICE cars

“Battery damage” right when you parked 😬. Glad you made it safely I was sweating bullets and thought the same - wouldn’t it suck if the battery drained completely and stopped going in to your work parking lot😅

I’d be curious if the Id.4 has a “turtle” mode like the Leaf.

I don't know if you were doing it for effect or you just don't know. Maybe you mentioned it in your video but If you lowered your speed alot sooner your range would have gone up and you would have made it no problem. It did give some good insight into what "reserve" we have.

I think my palms would have been drenched in sweat if I drove that far at zero percent!!!

Good stuff, 0 miles left at 60mph + is is a great way to test it, I wouldn’t dare to test this on my e-tron, 0 means 0 in Audi and Porsche language and leave dead on the road even though they have a good buffer in the battery.
