It’s less about the devices and more about the lack of mind numbing stimulation whoch results in them taking in what it infront of them. It works with devices also, reading classic literature vs understanding it. Technology isn’t internal bad.
Having half the class take a test before, then the other half take it after, makes this experiment worthless. Was there no control group? Perhaps the second half was just overall more creative than the first, regardless of the camping trip.
