The original reel was only titled "BRIG". No other context, but it looks like sailors getting some exercise on the deck of Midway.

USS Midway 75-76

For this reel, which was also untitled, I'm not 100% certain on the location of filming but my best guess is Hong Kong. I found some declassified docs on the ports of call for the USS Midway, and Hong Kong was listed. This one was filmed during the American Bicentennial (check out the banner wrapped around the base of the stage). My dad, Harry Gordon, would have been deployed during this, and old cruise logs show they were stationed in Yokosuka, Japan at the time. It looks like they put on a pretty fantastic show for them while overseas. The Grass Roots and Young Americans!

Another Super 8 conversion to digi. My father would have filmed this in 1976 while serving in the Navy aboard the USS Midway.

This reel was untitled and had 3 smaller reels spliced together onto a larger reel. I had some issues getting the spliced parts of the film through the feeder on the converter but a little video editing and I was able to remove the snags from the final product. Initially I wasn't sure where my father (Harry Gordon) had filmed this but I was able to correlate some landmarks in the video to Olong...
