In the spring I shall see which plants do well in each condition. I hope this video helps you make some decisions about the way you store your plants over the cold months.

💜🎶Good day Olivia .. watching your video I reminded me to water my plants !! I bought in my herbs for the first time this year.. the parsley is going well ! Thanks for sharing 🌱💜🎶🇨🇦
Thank you so much for watching. Enjoy the herbs 😊
It's always quite a job to overwinter tender plants 🌱
It is…but worth it. By March I can’t wait for them to go out into the garden but it will no doubt still be frosty. Thank you for watching
I like the bubble wrap. Its a bit warmer. Save the broken pot for covering drainage holes or making toad homes in the summer. 😊 like your plants.
Iv neve grown them before .. I have grown some from seed this year which have got bigger and are in pots .. my plan is to just put the pots in the greenhouse (unheated) with some fleece or bubble wrap around the pots .. do I have to cut the foliage right back down or shall I leave it on (does it feed the tubers as it dies back?)
Cut back leaving a small stub. I hope those I have left in pots make it through the winter. I have placed them in an unheated temporary green house. I will compare the 2 methods next spring. Thank you for watching.
I never take mine out of the ground. They stay in all year and they do fantastic the next season.
I decided to leave a few dahlias in the pots and I will keep them in a sheltered area. I think dahlias hate the very cold and the wet. This year in the uk it feels like it’s not stopped raining. I will be brave next year and leave some in the ground 😊 thank you so much for watching.
I've had a dahlias for 25 years. The only thing I do to it is remove the dead stuff when it gets dead - usually after the first frost. It is a very happy beast!
I will have to be brave at some point and leave the tubers in the pots or the ground. I also start them inside in pots as the slugs and snails have a good munch on the new growth. Thank you for watching and your comments 😊
Luckily hydrangeas recover really well and I would take cuttings while you’re pruning it all. Perhaps you could sell them next year 👍. Have a wonderful week Olivia, Ali ☔️☔️🇨🇦
👍👍👍
Hugelkultur would you say? The green material that lined the bottom of the bed, is it a plastic with drainage holes? I am very much like you in that gloves are a no no for me, have to get my hands in there too. Some fab tubers for storage .
Hello. The liner is permeable so lets the water through but keeps the weeds ( in this case grass) down. The tubers do look great, hopefully they will store well over winter. Thanks for watching.
I love the colour on that Acer.
The Acers are at their best at this time of year. I love them. Thank you for watching 😊
Wow those are awesome sleepers I assume they are quite heavy to move around. You mentioned dahlias in pots Olivia what do you do with them in winter? I have some in pots for the first time and am not sure what to do in our crazy cold winter with them. Bench is a fun idea. Will you be able to have the gravel delivered right to the back yard or will that be a huge wheelbarrow job? We are lucky enough to have a back entrance for trucks. Have a super day Olivia don’t work too hard, Ali 🌞🥶🇨🇦
Beautiful garden, looking forward to seeing what you will be planting in them..new friend here.
Thank you so much. I’m very excited to have more space to plant !

Amazing. Thank you for joining and I’m so pleased you enjoyed the tour 😊
Oh I have that pinky green plant I think. The foliage or flowers smell awful 😂 and in can be invasive so I would research if it’s the same variety Olivia
Morning Olivia, are you finding your sedum heads are not as tight as last year. Mine seem more “spread out” but still starting to burst into colour so hopefully the bees will show up. Fantastic update Olivia it’s all looking amazing, Ali ⛈️🇨🇦
ooo what a video to find im currently working on a corner area , all my stuffs on instagram , but its proving a bit of a pain in the butt , its all prep for a fence but iv a huge tree root to come out that i just dont think i can do on my own and i hate getting people in i like to do it myself ( obviously insane!) , but once done iv loads of morning sun area and afternoon shade which is where i want my rhubarb , not that i have any yet iv failed two years running by seed lul <£ hope you have a lovely day thanks for sharing
I’m sure your hard work will pay off! Thanks for watching
I find that even if I do pay attention to mature height and spacing, things perform differently in my garden and get outrageously tall or much more squatty, and never quite the "correct" height. The hydrangea you got in the corner is an arborescens type. Paniculatas have narrower leaves. Arborescence love dappled shade with morning sun especially but will tolerate full sun given adequate irrigation. Macrophylla type will tolerate almost full shade. Your rose next to it probably wants more sun. Light purple roses like Novalis(Poseidon) from Kordes or old once blooming ramblers do well in part shade locations. I apologize for all the unsolicited advice.
What a lovely garden.
Thank you Susan! 😊
I’m with Heidi am a bit lax at deadheading but I’m trying 😂. Garden looks stunning Olivia ❤, have a marvellous week, Ali ☁️🇨🇦
Can I ask do you do this with hydrangea? Or just leave the flowers?
It depends on which you have. All Hydrangea paniculatas can be cutback hard in spring about 1/3. No danger at any time after frosts or after the flowers die back. But mop heads or lace caps only after the last frost down to the next bud. This is important as they flower on new growth and frost can damage the new growth. The old flower heads offer some protection. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching
@@OliviasMindfulGarden Ok that makes sense, thank you for getting back to me
It was good to watch you tidying your garden, it’s given me the confidence to do the same in mine. I wasn’t sure whether to cut back or not but I’ll have a go now. Thanks Olivia 😊
Brilliant, I’m so pleased to hear that. Happy sniping 😊
I'm always a little bit behind doing this but it's so important.
A little every day can help. Thank you for watching
lovely plants, but dont forget that the Echinacina will spread out in the next few years !!! and all your new plants are bee friendly.
I really hope they do. They are a fabulous plant 😊

Hi Olivia. I was wondering why you were not putting out videos, but it's because YT is not putting them in the notifications box. That pot should be called the Mary Poppins pot it has so much in it! Nice video, thank you. X

Thank you Georgie for your comment ❤
Beautiful looking garden, its a pollinators dream. We use slug traps with a yeast bait in our flowerbeds and copper tape around the pots of hostas. Most of our flowers are in bloom some are finished blooming and we are waiting on kniphofia, echinacea, rudbeckia, hebe, phygelius, crocosmia, daylilies and salvia amistad. Something to look forward to for late summer colour.
Thank you,! Your garden sounds glorious..
