How Can We Remove Greenhouse Gases From The Atmosphere?
To preserve our planet's future, we must rapidly cut global emissions - but how can we also address the damage that's already been done?
As Steve Smith explains, greenhouse gas removal (GGR) is any human activity that removes greenhouse gases from the atmosphere, captures them, and durably stores them away. As a senior researcher at the University of Oxford's Smith School, Steve is currently working on a five-year project to test and develop GGR methods.
“We’re taking ideas that, up until now, have been concepts in scientific papers and scientific models, and we’re actually trialling them in the real world.”
The five GGR techniques being explored as part of the programme are varied, but a...

Is Recycled Carbon The Next Big Thing From Fashion To Fuel?
Просмотров 145День назад
As the most significant of the greenhouse gases that are driving global warming, carbon-dioxide has rightly become a focal point of our efforts to address the climate crisis. But carbon itself is not our enemy. It’s an essential part of life on Earth. What if we could capture carbon-dioxide emissions and convert them into useful items? Jennifer Holmgren is CEO of LanzaTech - a company whose mis...
Helping Small Island Nations Adapt To The Climate Crisis
Просмотров 12 тыс.14 дней назад
Small Island Developing States (SIDS) are a group of distinct island nations around the world. These countries are renowned for their natural assets, from pristine coastlines to picturesque marine ecosystems, but they're also uniquely vulnerable to the changing climate. As leading marine scientist Dr. Deborah Brosnan explains, "these islands contribute less than 1% of global greenhouse gas emis...
How Seagrass Beds Are Making Money By Capturing Carbon In The Bahamas
Просмотров 92621 день назад
In 2019, Hurricane Dorian struck The Bahamas, causing $3.4 billion worth of damage - a sum equal to one quarter of the country's GDP. The intensity of these storms is increasing year by year, and the impact on communities and economies is devastating. As High Commissioner of The Bahamas Paul Andrew Gomez explains, Small Island Developing States must adapt and build resilience in a swiftly chang...
Rebuilding Coastal Communities After Natural Disasters
Просмотров 883Месяц назад
Small Island Developing States are vulnerable to storms, hurricanes and cyclones - all of which are intensified by climate change. Without insurance, the impact of these natural disasters can be even more devastating. As Rebekah Clement from Lloyd's explains, the insurance industry can support disaster resilience in these nations by providing financial protection against extreme weather events,...
How Coral Reefs And Mangroves Can Protect Small Island Nations From Climate Change
Просмотров 921Месяц назад
Small Island Developing States are home to 65 million people around the world. They also house a remarkable amount of biodiversity. These nations are responsible for less than 1% of greenhouse gas emissions, but they are disproportionately impacted by the changing climate. This leaves them vulnerable to natural disasters and debt. How can we make that debt more sustainable and encourage both fi...

I love this. I had to click and see if carbon capture was still being regarded as feasible. Not only is it not mentioned, but there are five other methods being discussed. And a few synergistic relationships to explore at that! Well done!
Thanks for watching. Steve has so many fascinating insights to share on the topic of GGR. Carbon capture doesn't replace the urgent need to reduce emissions, but it's still an important piece of the puzzle when it comes to addressing climate change.
That´s a important initiative, we need more information and data about carbon removal!
another scam to justify ignoring overwhelming science . Shame on Dr Smith
What rubbish her indigenous group may possibly have not lived there from the beginning of human existence and whilst that is most unlikely they have lived through many climatic changes whilst Isolation over so many years produces retardation
AMAZING hands UP!
Thanks Michelle, we're glad you enjoyed this case study film. TerraCycle's mission to eliminate the idea of waste certainly is amazing ♻️
Why not collaborate with other startups using carbon as an asset to produce polymers to substitute plastic or other products by removing carbon dioxide from the ocean water collected as well as from the atmosphere. This would reduce the risk of ocean acidification upon diluting with ocean water once placed back into the ocean.

Thomas, you are so so so inspiring! I can not thank you enough for what you do to this planet <3 I work as a teacher, and I will show you research as inspiration for them to take action.
Thanks for watching. We're glad you find Thomas and his work as inspiring as we do 🌱
Informative
Can anyone help with the contact details of this particular company or the entrepreneur. Will be very helpful
Wrong
I absolutely love this channel
Glad to see the increasing activity of this project. It's such a cool idea.
The world economic forum is a bunch of people that are hiding a bunch of truth about the world! they own all the oldest ancient places in the world like golbeki tepe! and they're not allowing any more research or archaeological research to be done... WHY??? i don't trust them! this sounds great but I feel it's bs
Love stuff like this! Hopefully people start waking up.
You mean without resources we cant built society. OMG you're so smart. We should increase your pay.
Amen ♥️♥️
Could you please link any published data that supports the claims that regenerative agriculture has higher yields than conventional agriculture?
