The English literally had to beg to the Emperor for clemency. If Aurangzeb was so bad then why did he forgave the English fleet and still allowed them to trade in India. They were at his mercy, he could have annihilated them all if he wanted to, but he didn't. Instead the English had to pay a some amount of fine to the Emperor for causing havoc in his domain and in return the Emperor granted them to set-up factories around the coast to trade.
