@@austinyote1783 Yeah, I have a lot of experience with ATVS as I grew up in a area where we ride them as frequently as people in other areas of the country drive regular automobiles ( Southern West Virginia ) We can ride them to McDonald’s, Walmart, etc. I from Logan, and Boone counties, down where the Hatfield and McCoy trails are. I have over 30yrs of riding experience, and have seen what can handle daily abuse over time in rugged terrain. Most riders don’t ride their machines like that, but that’s just the type of environment I grew up in, and it’s not just me, it’s a social norm there. We have seen what holds up over time. Now a days riders from all over the country come to ride those trails, thousands of riders a year. Plenty of groups come in with RZR’s, and Mavericks. They are quite popular as far as SXS go, but they also have a lot of issues. It’s very common when those groups come in for someone, or even several people from within those groups to have problems with their machines on their trip. I’m not trying to bash on Can Am per say, I just believe they are wronging their customers by charging a lot of money for a machine that simply won’t last as long as machines nearly half their price. ( CFMOTO ) I considered the new G3 platform before I bought my Rancher, but Can Am stuck to their ways in cost savings which resulted in a machine that comes with issues shortly down the road. I could go on about Can Am, it’s quite a lengthy list of issues with them. Here is another example from just a couple days ago ruclips.net/video/uA7oAwBARhw/видео.htmlsi=YbL_EtXvbADXZa1_

I got stranded 16 miles in the woods hunting with a whitetail freshly gutted and my 2009 Honda rancher(1 year old at the time) transmission completely stopped working. Hondas have know transmission problems for over 10 years now on their quads. Now mind you at my house, we keep our vehicles in top notch condition. Moral of the story there is NO perfect machine. And even the legendary Hondas can still have problems that can leave you stranded from factory. No machine is perfect. I have a 2001 crappy polaris sportsman’s that couldn’t have been abused more and it’s STILL RUNNING. If I listened to what everyone says on the internet, my Polaris shouldn’t have been reliable enough to make it out the showroom floor.
@@Lalaafastroli Well true, they all can have problems at times, but there isn’t much chance of me buying a Polaris not by a long shot. Your situation would be extremely rare. What specifically was wrong with the transmission ? Was it a foot shift, ES, Automatic ?
Here is a video of a 2009 model, the guy in this video claims the electric motor failed at one point, but he was able to shift it with the backup manual level. I don’t recall any accounts of any transmission complete failures in over 30yrs. The only issues I am aware of are, the ES issues, and eventually the failure of the electric motor at high mileage, which isn’t difficult to replace once it gets to that point, but you still should have the backup option. The other was with the earlier model DCT automatics that had a tendency to overheat due to the programing, and could cause mechanical problems or failure due to overheating, that issue was addressed in the newer DCT models, Honda had the same issue in their earlier model DCT automobiles as well, due to how the program works. I optioned for the foot shift to eliminate both the ES issues, and any potential DCT issues, though it’s not likely there would be any issues with the 2025’s regarding the DCT. The only other issues I am aware of regarding transmission issues would be based on rider input. The video ruclips.net/video/TTQXZBqjioc/видео.htmlsi=FRGXlEWPnUKi7LaY
@@TiffanyBottomsHunterI took it to my local Honda dealer…apparently it had a problem with the “electronic shifting shaft” or some gears were faulty by the factory. Either way it was covered under warranty. I’ll like to add I owned 4 Honda dirt bikes and 2 street bikes with zero issues. I think hondamatic transmissions have more problems than you think, just look at the Honda forums
Three of the main reasons that Honda has such reliable engines, and machines are these. Quality Engineering, Quality Manufacturing Processes, Thorough Quality Control. Another major contributor is Thorough Testing . These are how reputable manufacturers establish quality such as Toyota, Cummins, Honda, Yamaha, Kubota, etc

This guy is a complete troll, Can Am has high quality no matter where they’re built. They dominate every long distance grueling race like GNCC, Baja, Paris to Drakar and more. They have Canadian & American inspectors overseeing everything and I hate to say it most Mexicans are great workers. His excuse about the paint is bull, as soon as you tighten the bolts the bevels cuts right through the paint.
@@firstoutlander I see you came to my channel commenting on me exposing Can Am, I believe you are the troll. Can Am is not high quality, and most experienced GNCC racers run Yamaha or Honda. Can Am takes shortcuts, and cuts corners. They outsourced jobs to Mexico for cheap labor, and whether or not someone who is Mexican is a good worker is irrelevant. I have worked in the auto industry, in manufacturing, I have been a quality control inspector in more than one position of quality control. Quality companies have a very thorough process of inspection, and testing during the assembly process. These machines must go through quality control inspections before leaving the factory. They arrive at the dealers with issues, maybe not every single unit, but it’s relatively common to find loose bolts, wrong hoses, loose clamps, etc. Quality control inspections should be conducted through each step of the process, with every part, bolt, and nut. Claiming that Can Am has high quality no matter where they are built isn’t wise. You don’t know the manufacturing practices, regulations, and requirements that regulate their plant in Mexico. Once you cross the border, you’re in another country amigo. I work with a lot of Mexicans from Mexico, I even train them. If they don’t have a proper training program down there in that plant, then they may lack the skill to ensure that it has been properly assembled, which requires rigorous testing, and thorough repetitive inspections. Due to engineering flaws on the Can Am machines, it’s not just the assembly process that equates to poorer quality, but its design as well. The engine mounts should not break, period. That says to me that Can Am did not do enough torture testing in order to find this weakness. I don’t like Can Am because they are not the same kind of quality as Japanese manufacturers, I’ve been at this for over 30yrs. I know. Like I said to you before, if you want to go spend your money on one, that’s your decision, but I don’t advise it if you are looking for a durable machine. The only things that I can commend Can Am on are their fuel injection systems working better at below zero temperatures than the Japanese manufacturers, they have the most horsepower, they have a nice digital gauge cluster with a lot of useful information, the Rotax engine quality is okay, I don’t know about equal with Honda or Yamaha , but better than Polaris. Their linq system accessories are pretty neat, but they lack in too many other areas that matter for a solid, reliable, and durable machine. It’s hard to beat experience.
@@TiffanyBottomsHunter I race Can Am’s in GNCC and you do not have a chance of winning yet alone finishing on a Japanese or Polaris. If you look down the line on the 4x4 classes you see nothing but Can Ams. Once a year you might see a Honda Yamaha or a Polaris but they never finish a series because they break and need so many modifications for reliability not to mention not enough power. Can Ams have way more power and handle so much better than the Japanese it’s not even close, we had a Yamaha racer on our team who couldn’t win and kept destroying his Yamaha he had to switch over. He started winning and Won the championship last year saying theirs no comparison. The Japanese are reliable if you don’t race them, plus there are very few changes year to year. When the Japanese models first came out there were problems with every model, all manufacturers have first year problems. My 1000 Renegade has 4 racing seasons on it and only needed repairs caused by crashes, this is the same for many racers. The newest models might have a couple of problems but they fix them instantly, the motor mount was just swapped out with a snowmobile mount and that’s on only a very few machines. So far no problems with a 200 lb. pro racing the new 700 this year saying the newest machines are the smoothest, best handling and need the fewest modifications to make it race ready. It is underpowered compared to the 1000’s but only on the long straights. Every comparison so far people choose the Can Ams the winner and they own other brands. Canadian forestry services tried everything because they put 10 to 20,000 miles on them and the Can Ams held up the best especially for hard work. It’s obvious you are biased toward your brand but with me I want to finish and win and the only choice is Can Am. The Yamaha’s and Honda’s racing are the 450’s because nobody even makes them anymore and even those require many modifications to make them in GNCC racers. It’s actually cheaper to build a gncc Can Am than a 450 racer. I wasted enough time on you trolls, good day.
@@firstoutlander You must work for Can Am, because the average Joe knows you know nothing about these machines. Can Ams are fast, but not reliable. Honda’s have proven to get more miles than any of the other ATVS on the market, with little issues, hence a long track record of reliability. Yamaha’s CVT is by far way more reliable than Can Am, if you claim otherwise I know you are the one biased, again long term RELIABILITY. Can Am has ultra thin metal on their racks, and a lot of plastic, comparable to Polaris, they aren’t designed for work on Farms, and Ranches . Most Farmers, and Ranchers buy Honda for work ATVS, they know what can handle it, and what can not, they have tried other brands, they know what is reliable, and durable enough to withstand daily work, and to be reliable for that work everyday. Can Am requires a lot of modifications to be on par with Japanese manufacturers, and even then they aren’t built for it at their core. You tried resorting to GNCC racing, because Can Am has the advantage of a higher displacement engine, with high hp ratings, where none of the Japanese manufacturers even make 1000 ATVS. I don’t believe Can Am would build a 450cc class sport quad because they could not compete with the Japanese manufacturers, they aim for higher displacement. You should not have to resort to replacing motor mounts with motor mounts from snowmobiles, again it shows they did not do enough testing when designing the machine, and again it requires additional modifications to even withstand typical harsh use. If you go down south, especially in the Appalachia you won’t see a lot of Can Am’s, because we know they won’t hold up, they have yet to address the issues that result in failures, electrical, CVT, poor construction, cheap hardware, and quality control.
@@TiffanyBottomsHunter You are an absolute troll to make those statements, you must have been beat by a teenage girl while you were going all out riding. Can Am has been eating into the Japanese sales steadily since its inception they now sell more ATV’s 500cc and up than any manufacturer. When they did make a 450 racer it was always rated near the top although they were all close. They were not big sellers for anyone so all of them got out except Yamaha. Honda Rubicon had major transmission problems and Yamaha had major engine problems on the grizzlies when they came out same with all manufacturers on some first year models. If you want to ride slow and not work hard then the Japanese are great but we ride and race all day long and those brands don’t hold up. If you honestly compared all the 700’s ( since everyone make one ) you will have a clear winner every time because of smoothness, power, handling, towing, work loads are the best all at a better price. I know you want to come over to Can Am but your biases are stronger than your common sense. I do not work for any manufacturer, I’m a electrical contractor who raced a motocross on a Yamaha and other brands. I always purchased what was best for racing at the time and wanted reliability and performance. You should try it.
Can ams are very reliable what the piss are u even saying, ive got 4 and have zero issues from 2012 all the way up to 2020 completely dogged up and sank all the time

Recently, I got a 2001 Honda Foreman 450ES with 5,424. miles on it. I'm already having to do bearings and seals on the rear end, suspension all the way around, ball joints, front bearings and rubber. Fortunately the splines on the axle are in good condition. I'm also considering doing an oil change and a valves adjustment as well. My question is, is there anything else to do with the engine that's likely to go at that mileage? What else would you watch out for? Also the suspension I'm thinking of using is of the cheap Chinese variety, do you have any experience with those?
@@wild_goose_0285 In my experience, first of all what size of wheel, and tires where on the machine when you got it ? If the machine was run in a lot of water, mud, and sand the wheel bearings will. Honda wheel bearings tend to need replaced after so many miles anyways, that’s one of the reasons I avoid, water, sand, and mud. I also advise not putting oversized tires, or heavy wheels and tires as they will wear them out quicker. I means it’s 23yrs old, that’s not really that bad, that’s normal to replace bearings. I would buy Honda Genuine OEM though, not the cheap stuff. I usually get my parts from partszilla. Yes, adjust the valves. I have a video on my channel about adjusting the valves on my 300, it’s lengthy though, and get you a service manual as it explains it all to you, along with some RUclips videos you should get a well rounded idea of how, if you don’t already. Make sure you do a compression check, so you get the Honda spec compression. 5,424 miles isn’t much on the engine. Ball joints also wear too over time, but those are all typical wear components that will need replaced on ATVS, the engine should last well over 100,000 miles, though if properly serviced regularly as the owners schedule maintenance manual recommends. It sounds like it may have been rode a little rough, but as long as the engine oil was changed frequently enough, you shouldn’t have any real issues. Suspension, bearings, ball joints, etc that’s normal on Machines that old, and that many miles, but all serviceable. Just a little wrench time.
I've got the same problem, wish I knew how to fix too.
I’m looking to replace the neutral switch sensor probably this coming weekend, I uploaded a video explaining it. I know the battery, relay, starter, starter relay cable, fuses, kill switch, lights, reverse switch sensor, reverse light indicator, oil temperature switch sensor, all work. If it’s not the sensor I will look at replacing the sub wiring harness for those sensors. The sensors cost $19.00 from Partzilla, and like $12.00 from places like EBay. I would rather order Honda OEM though personally.

Sir, since you mentioned my country Mexico by name, I offer a humble suggestion to your immigration crisis in the United Stated of America. Sir, why don't you convince your U.S. government to return ALL the Southwest territories back to Mexico with interests in return Mexico would build, pay for and secure for a new border wall along what would remain of the much smaller United States of America. That would solve most if not all of the U.S. immigration crisis. Regardless, the Hispanic population particularly the Mexican population will become the new majority in the United States in approximately 70 years from now. Why not get a border wall for your territory losses?

Even if I requested that my government do that, that would not hear my voice. Why do you not request that your government stop the Cartels from smuggling illegal drugs, and people across the established border that now is ? Why do you not request that your government go after it’s own corruption that has plagued it for so long, under which the Mexican people have had to suffer so much oppression, and violence that they seek to flee the country to a safe territory. Your government is not helping its own citizens, but making things worse for them. They have had 50yrs to stop the Cartels, and have not succeeded, but have worked with them out of greed. The Mexican people have had to suffer as a result of such corruption, and other countries do not want to invest in trade with your country due to the corruption, and an untrustworthy, and reliable government to work with. They are not helping you. They have lost too much credibility to be given anymore territory, they can’t even keep what territory they do have under control. If they can’t control what they already have, why would a country that has a stable government, and stable society over which it has dominion over such territory give it to a government that would abuse it ? That makes no proper sense.

Your van is a good set up for a night's sleep. Even better if a man had three or four soft leather sofa cushions to lay on.
I used a air mattress from Walmart, with a portable battery powered pump. With the engine running all night, with the heat on worked fine. It didn’t consume anywhere near as much fuel as people seemed to think. People were like “ How much gas did it use ? “ thinking it would be a lot, but it probably didn’t consume $10.00 worth a night. Do the math that’s like $10.00 a night $70.00 for 7 days, way cheaper than any hotel per night. It used way less fuel than I expected. I kept checking the fuel gauge to check, and never dropped below 3 quarters of a tank for several days. I had the heat on high , and at its hottest setting.

Yeah, I got to figure out that bushing issue, that was part of the problem with the foot brake, I mean the foot brake just doesn’t seem to rotate on that thing without a lot of friction. It would stick in different positions/angles without anything attached to it just sitting there. Yeah after really thinking about it that was what I was thinking with the back plate, as long as it seals properly. I got some Hondabrite cleaner I plan on using on it, I don’t know it I need that chipped piece to be there for it to seal. I think with some Hondabond on the drum cover seal it maybe fine. After a second look I think it won’t really matter functionally wise. It just needs to mount, function, and all seal up well, then it should be okay. Yeah I need to get ready for Bow Hunting it’s getting that time. I been really sick this whole week though, just got back from the clinic today. Been rough
Oh, yeah I bought a mint used OEM off EBay, a new OEM from Honda is still available, but it’s $700.00
Here is me testing the that exhaust ruclips.net/video/eXnSd9fSaoE/видео.htmlsi=_lQmy8B_-Bdi6yrT
@@TiffanyBottomsHunter I think I would silicone that small broken piece back in place...put a layer on the inside whatever you can get by with then use some around with your "O ring" & a lil heavier dobb where its broken im 💯 it will seal if you use enough good quality silicone...im just hoping to help you if I can...I have pretty much always worked on my stuff with good luck most of the time & im cheap lol I try to get by brother 🇺🇲 good luck either way you go
@@JoseyWhales-ii4dk Thanks I will probably consider that, and see what I can come up with. I’m still recovering from this oh sickness yet, it’s kinda put everything on hold for the moment. I worked at a casting company, and when Ford Engineers messaged up on transmission housing designs, we would fill those imperfections in the moundings with a product called Belzona epoxy that would harden, kinda like JB weld but I believe it was more durable. I will have to look that stuff up online.
That's cool quad
Very nice Camaro whoever it belongs to.
It looks much better than what it did. My truck is so so dirty.
I believe dawn would breakdown the dirt better, but it had dirt that had been sitting on it for who knows how long. I believe it does okay, but would probably do better for dirty machines just after a ride. I need a good pressure washer too, to really get all of it off, and more elbow grease 😏
My 1999 fourtrax is ticking , it’s annoying but I don’t know what to do to fix it??
What all have you tried doing to it ?
Here are a list of things to check: Valve clearance, exhaust manifold seal, and gasket., Cylinder head rocker arms, Cam chain, guides, and cam chain auto tensioner, Crankshaft bearings, piston rings, and piston pin for starters. Does it sound like it is in the top of the motor, middle, or bottom of the motor ? Have you changed the oil, and filter? Do you use Honda pro hp4 oil ? What grade of fuel do you use ?
Adjusting the valves is where most people start, and a fresh oil change and filter, new air filter, drain the existing fuel if it’s had the same fuel in it for several weeks, put in a whole tank of premium gas in it. I would do some searches on RUclips of various things, valves rattling, piston slap, loose cam chain, exhaust manifold leak, bad crank bearing, etc That may help you narrow it down.
You're a busy man with your toys.
I don’t know about a toy, but it’s been a project. With work, I barely seem to have time for much else, so I took Labor Day, to do some labor 😂.
@@TiffanyBottomsHunter Just when a man should take the day off you worked. That's the way it goes.
@@auaiao9 Yeah I’m trying to get it completed at least to a certain point before Bow season, and this winter ❄️ 🥶
Are you sure that is the rear end??LOL I can see you over there peeping in the drain hole, I got so bored, sure you need a part 2, Lord I dont think I could stand anymore of this.
? Of course it’s the rear end. I was checking the rear differential oil level. If you think it is boring, then don’t watch it. 🤷🏻

I'm sorry about your grandmother, at least you'll have good memories of her to think back on. Both of my grandmothers were special to me too.
How do you manage the condensation in the gaiter after breathing through it for awhile?
Runs good it looks ok but I think a man could use a new seat on it.
Yeah been thinking about it, OEM is about $112.00 I usually only get OEM stuff, I’m trying to figure out what that ticking sound is though
@@TiffanyBottomsHunter You'll figure it out.
The ratchet part should be helpful.
It's odd that you live in Wisconsin and have a southern accent.
I’m from southern West Virginia
@@TiffanyBottomsHunter That explains the southern accent. I'm from the south too, Tennessee.
