Weedeater Motorcycle
Добавлен 31 янв 2017
In this channel we will learn the correct way to mount a weed eater engine to our bicycle, as well as how to maintain our engine and bicycle for years of use. Many videos show how to mount a weed eater motor to a bicycle; but you would be surprised at how many are actually mounting it in a way that will not hold up past 4 or 5 months.
HOW TO PREP A WEED EATER MOTOR FOR A BICYCLE!
Here is how I prep a weed eater motor before I install it on a bicycle. Although some models vary, a good amount will be prepped in this fashion. Removing the plastic covers will make mounting easier and allow the best air cooling for the engine. Stay tuned for more videos!

HOW TO CORRECTLY MAKE A WEEDEATER BICYCLE!
Просмотров 42 тыс.7 лет назад
Is there a right way and a wrong way to mount a weed eater motor to your bicycle? I have done over 10 years of testing how to make a weed eater bike safely for years of reliable use. Now I share what I have found to be the best method with you. More videos are coming soon!
How are you going to start it.arent you eliminating pull dtart
A star has 5 points. A Torx has 6 points.
What does it hurt if the flywheel comes off
thanks
The kids and I are starting the project with an old Husqvarna engine I had and a beach cruiser we got suoer cheap at a garage sale. So just getting ideas together. But nevermind all that. Audrey! Lol. Love that photo!
Where the rest of the videos?
7:17 who needs people when you have clamps
Am a introvert independent isolated person
I'm getting ready to build one of these, so lemme make sure I got this straight. Plastics...useless, pull start...cut it off like my crazy ex, clutch...trash it, handle...save it!! Lol. Love it.
😂
7:00 disassembly
Ty 4 sk!ppin tht long intro
Old mate how are you going to start that shit without the clutch or pullstart
At the end of your video when you're talking about putting the washers and nut back on to help hold the flywheel if waiting on a peg or socket, what is that piece and why do you need it to install the motor on the bicycle? Btw, really enjoyed this video I had the idea of doing this on a whim one day earlier this week and have been struggling with, so more than words could say to express my joy for your information I will leave this question/comment with a thank you thank you THANK YOU! and I look forward to your reply to my question. 😃
Am still wondering what that is too
80% carb problems, 20% spark arrestor (metal screen in exhaust box to catch any sparks from coming out) the spark arrestor gets carbon build up from the 2 cycle oil and the exhaust fumes start backing up.. 1st thing to do if you get or have a small engine (weed eater, chainsaw, leaf blower etc etc..) is to check the spark screen because if air can not pass through the engine it will not start. Take that screen out and use a torch to burn the junk that built up in it or lay it on something that isn't flammable and pour a bottle cap of gas on it and burn it off that way.. I normally throw all spark arrestor screens in the garbage but you should check to make sure it's legal to remove it in your state or providence.. emission control laws in some regions are strict and could result in a very hefty fine, court cost and missed days at work. So be smart and check first. Kids.. you know you are not supposed to be playing with fire or lighting gas on fire without adult supervision so don't get caught.. no wait I meant to say don't do it haha
Lol 😂
im paying close attention to this i wanta build me one
How will I start it if there’s no pull cord though?
You just pedal fast
I always leave my pull rope on.. without it most people push start or rig up a fancy chain-clutch to the actual pedals to start it by pedaling.. that makes no sense to me since the pull rope was already there. I have seen people just take a piece of rope and wrap it around the fly wheel which they would then pull to start the engine.. again this makes zero sense and creates a hazard of to rope getting entangled, which could cause serious bodily injury plus cause damage to the engine itself.. some will argue that removing the pull rope and housing provides a cooler running engine due to air flow but if your engine is running hot you have other issues and increasing air flow is just putting a Bandaid on a cancer development figuratively speaking.. the underlying problem is still there and should be found and fixed.. also it is possible to use a transmission fluid cooler to help cool an engine that is over heating but again this is masking the problem, not fixing it.. it will always come back to bite you in the end it's just a matter of time. *Possible cause of engine over heating.. spark arrestor screen in the exhaust box is stopping up, piston ring/rings need replaced, valves are not seating correctly due to carbon build up.. hope this info helps you more than once. :)
You used a shitload of words to say very little lol. you also didn't even show shit like you said you were going to in the beginning of the video. Something like 'other guys show a finished product and go backwards, I'm gonna show it from the beginning step by step'... Even though you had all the mounting brackets done, ect.... Shit, all its seems like you did was take off the engine from that display bike before the video, then showed already made parts and brackets haha. Maybe lable your video differently next time please?, this is a damn 8 minute intro video to a step by step series, that you never actually made...., that I probably would have watched to get some ideas for my project. Keep on weed wackin' up them bikes!!!!
I just got 10 free bran new craftsman weed eater motors and I need help on how to mount the engine on a scooter like from where do I put the screw to mount it on
If you remove the plastic housing from the engine this frees up screws and screw holes and provides more air flow across the engine to help it run cooler and the cooler an engine is.. the more fuel efficient it is.
How are you meant to start it now ?
Dude, less talk more work!
Breakfast at Tiffany’s?
Dude make a follow up
Yy
try to put a chainsaw motor on a bike i hred it’s a little t fast and can top owt about 47 mph
Lies.. even one of those 80cc bike kits can only go up to about 37mph...
@@akmcg Lies ...Seen 80cc go 50+ easy ,type in fast bike motor first video is a 2 stroke 80cc going 76 mph lol fully outfitted with small engine racing parts. so im sure those $500 dollar chainsaws can go 40 mph at least, not everybody buy cheap stuff bud
@@morrisjohnsonakamj6346 you're right, I didn't know what the hell I was talking about then.
I know now
The only time I cracked an engine was riding off a curb. I'm still running the same homelite as I have for years. Myself I would get a peg that's knurled and back off the tension. Lowering the tire pressure a touch helps also. Also you shouldn't have any more vibration than normal if things are balanced.
You didn't even do anything 😑
I thought you were going to show us more on making it last with wood?
You work on small engines but you're not a small engine guy
I’m all abt small engines
Torx is not a brand name it is what the bit is called and or Star.
Torx is a brand name.
Clutches do work, I used a clutch on a gocart with a chain. Never skipped or slipped.
The only reason it wouldn't work is if you have a low gear ratio
That's strange I used the same setup on a trike build and anytime I would start up a hill it just didn't want to go.. maybe my clutch was worn out to begin with.
Impact drivers are your friend when it comes to removing to tight nuts and bolts
Hey what's up with you not making the next step by step of you putting it together??
He lied as usual just like he said everybody else did . 🙄
is this a 2 cycle weed wacker
I love your idea mydude!! It makes way more sense. For a longer lasting bike!!
If I had as much weed eater heads I would build something crazy. But i dont have the resources or the money Right now.
When it's time to trash it.... Why wouldn't you take off the ignition wire/sparkplug wire, and the controls... Choke lever and rpm control lever section of it off??? Its only the block that's bad. You could gut the block too!! Take the piston and mounts all of it is still good. Besides the normal wear and tear. Right???
I wish this video was available when I was growing up, would have definitely been cruising on a weedeater.
Your videos have made me want to make one soooo bad an now that I have a good bike an big weed eater motor I'm going to
I found a Craftsman 4cycle today next to a bag of leafs just needs gas lines might try this
You needed a camera man.
love it!! how did you make the breaking mechanism? -how to break-
I worked on about everything mechanicai all my llife. Got a three wheel bike in the works to be a rat bike and still deciding on my choice of motors. Thinking weed eater, we'll see. Still working out my ideas. Slow going as Im still recovering from beating stage three lung cancer. Currently rebuilding/remodeling a 31ft travel trailer.
Awesome!
How did the trike call me out?
spin the crank so that your piston is at bottom dead center take off your spark plug stick a rope in there turn your crank until it jams up and then you can loosen it or tighten it whichever one you need to do and then just turn it the other way and Pull the Rope out it doesn't hurt anything you don't break any fins
This can also be accomplished using solder wire if the wire is thick.. I use the same method to calibrate the squish between the top of the piston and the head since solder wire is relatively soft it gets "squished" just like the air-gas mixture and when you pull the soldering wire out you can measure the amount of "squish" by measuring the thickness of the "squished" soldering wire.
You talk way to fucking much holy fuck
Waste of time talk to much how a weedwackers are born made lost found just shut up already
your channel is good info keep it up
thanks front drive get two leg kickstand most motor bikes do
thanks for bracking it down for us good one
Did you give up? What happened to the rest of the videos?
series still in motion ?
Great vid :) . Just wondering, do you ever have problems with the crankshaft breaking - due to the sideways load that it sees on a bike wheel?
You need spring loaded tension so it can move with bumps in the road. Check out my Facebook page. it's called Single Cylinder Customs. I have pics and videos of my builds on there.
Put a bearing on the other end and you will need another brace going to it.
Great I tried once and i failed because I could not get it to work righth
