I counted 19 locos. While I was watching, I was reminded of my three favorite movies that feature trains/fights on top of trains: 1) Narrow Margin (1990) 2) Under Siege 2 (1992) 3) Unstoppable (2010) We miss seeing you at the Potterville crossing.
When I was a kid, we lived about 500’ from where the tracks crossed our street. I loved watching the trains, especially the ones with the _friendly_ guys in the caboose. This video brought back some nice memories! Oddly enough, I never rode on a train until I went away to university. The $$ hierarchy of travel back then (70s-80s) was bus->car->train->plane and we were firmly in the “bus” class.
Ugh! That noise was horrible. What do you think about the recent derailments? I haven’t seen much in the way of explanation-mostly just a lot of CYA, and “Somebody has to pay for this,” but not much about causes. Was it human error? If so, what was behind it? I recall that rail workers were going to strike over working conditions, but threatened with legal action (by the federal government, no less).
That _was_ stupid.. I’ve seen the aftermath of a vehicle/train smash (ie. a kid who looks like a jigsaw puzzle due to a thousand stitches), and a smart person wants no part of that.
