International Criminal Law, Institutional Self-Preservation, and Domestic Judicial Legacies
Просмотров 2809 лет назад
One of the core areas of criticism of international criminal law is its jurisdictional regime. The examples of the ad hoc tribunals, hybrid courts and the ICC evince a tendency to prioritise institutional self-preservation over catalysing the domestic assumption of responsibility. Interesting questions arise as to how this tendency fits with parallel critiques of its liberalism.
Victims as Victimizers, the Victimizer as Victim (Mark Drumbl)
Просмотров 6559 лет назад
Literary accounts of atrocity recount a rich story of the complexities of victims and perpetrators. These accounts have the space to do so because they do not condemn, denounce, or incapacitate. Judicial accounts of atrocity condemn. They are able to do so because they narrate a much flatter story. This simpler story, however, may fail to memorialize the conduct of the oppressed in times of atr...
The International Criminal Court and State Sovereignty (Emanuela Koskimies)
Просмотров 1,1 тыс.9 лет назад
This video explains the way I address the relationship between the International Criminal Court (ICC) and state sovereignty in my own research work. I depart from my central research question: what is the regime of state sovereignty unfolded by the Court, and to what extent does it amount to a post-modern/"post-Westphalian" form of configuring political space? I briefly address the existing bod...

Can i phone you doctor
Need to talk to u how do i get phone
Why oh why were people like professor Dougan not listened too and why were videos like this not put out on National TV so people got a better idea from people who are clearly much more knowledgeable on the subject than Johnson, Farage, Mogg, Tice, Francois and Baker!
You'd hope by now, the more aware of remainers, considering the last years events, would understand why the majority voted to leave the EU.
I was going to vote to leave the EU and then i made myself do a little of my own research before the vote day… and found this video before i voted… 24 minutes later I had completely changed my mind… This guy has got every single thing spot on! He should run for Parliament, he would / should become prime minister tomorrow! This video needs to go viral as every year that goes past, things get worse outside of the EU!
So, it would take the U.K. 10 years to agree an ongoing relationship with the EU!? Wrong! The EU is the most developed free trade block!? Nope! The CPTPP! 😂
I would have paid £1,000,000 to have seen his face when he turned on the news on the morning of 24 June 2016 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Oh dear , I thought I had bought a David Whyte book, the poet ...not the activist professor ;(

My grand daughter, Aisha 15 years old, still in high school, will finish in 2024. She wants to study in Liverpool Law School. Please guide me to get admission and how to get scholarship for her . Thank you very much
Dougan proudly boasts that when Britain was a member of the EU, no legislation got accepted by the EU unless it had the agreement of the "big three" - Britain, France and Germany. This statement reveals profoundly how un-democratic the EU is. The EU is a Federation of nation states dominated by Germany and France (and previously Britain).
yes Michael, it has turned out as you said and now what do we do???
well what an expert you turned out to be how about admitting that you got brexit all wrong
How did he get Brexit wrong?
Hey i want to study law later in life please guide me to get admission in Liverpool law university
Can't wait for all brexiteer swine to suffer....
Hey, what’s your books called?
Everything Prof M Dougan states is evidence based and researched, no wonder he has come to believe that Remaining obviously is Best for Britain
It's now November 2020 - weeks before the "transition period" ends and STILL there is no agreement between UK Gov and the EU. The reason is becoming more apparent daily - the Tories do not want any deal as they will make a bundle the lower the price of sterling plummets. They don't want any EU interference because as per Dougan's video from 11:20 on, (- and I paraphrase- ) 'after the EU is gone, the current government can rewrite EU/UK common laws however they want, without Parliamentary approval'. Well, now it's 2020, we know that the HOC is leaning to the Tories by 80 seats and the media have painted the Lords as a bunch of sleepy fuddy duddys who are just waiting to be awoken for dinner. Theresa May gave immunity to the Armed Forces for any human rights offences carried out in the act of controlling public dissension . Have you any idea what you have done to yourselves?
The mantra from the Vote Leave and Leave EU campaigns was for an open and enterprising UK trading with the EU and the rest of the world on an open basis. Fine. But the rest of the world and the EU don't have to agree with you. The EU thinks that the Single Market is valuable and that it should be preserved. And it is right. We should face up to the fact that the EU will not give the UK the right to pick and choose which parts of the Single Market it likes and which it does not. Why should it? The reality is that Boris Johnson has led the UK out of the world's biggest and most comprehensive trading arrangement with our nearest and richest neighbours and competitors. For what? Five years on from the Vote to leave we will clearly be worse off.

got to the bit where everyone else is either wrong or dishonest!
what a wasted life !
Is there a transcript of this talk?
your so bad
Dear Prof.Michael Dougan, universities have been havens of freedom for centuries. Let me address my concern about Julian Assange held hostage in your country for publishing war crimes, war lies and other crimes ordered or executed by powerful people. To extradite Assange means to put morals upside down - punish the innocent because he revealed the crimes of the power holders. I would like to ask you to speak up for Julian Assange. Thank you. FREEDOM for JULIAN ASSANGE. Sincerely Michael Haas
I'm sure the EU does bring "added value" to the prof and to big business but I'm not sure it brings any "added value" to the ordinary person in Britain who has to compete with migrants over jobs, housing etc. The EU costs the UK billions to belong to and actually gives Britain very little in return that I can see.
🥳 Endlich mal ein Lichtblick ... Ciao UK 🥳
Desperate words from a desperate man.all the remoaners only believed in the democratic system.when its in their favour.to think this is the type of person moulding the minds of the young.
"Dishonesty on industrial scale": Brilliant!
'one of the leading nations in the EU..', there you go , dipshit.
I love how remained go on about democracy. Alright..... Best out of 3...... Best out of 5 ????? It's like bill and ted playing death. Fucking grow up idiots. Boris has done more in 8 weeks than Teresa may did in 3 years. Labour are trying to stop democracy at every opportunity but don't want an election ..... Because they know they will lose. Ive voted labour all my life, never again whilst Corbyn and Diane Abbott . Anyway getting back to this one sided video. He's Irish and biast. Check out less lefty videos , totally contradicts everything.
Not that this comment ever really had much worth but jeez, it sure has aged well. The 'bias' on display here is knowledge. No wonder it strikes you as so alien.
Lawers are parasites, they produce nothing but hot air, and as there seems to be more and more of them crawling out from under stones, I think this is the main reason that we have problems with global warming. If you can read and write and have a reasonable memory for case law you are made for life, sucking the lifeblood from the actual producers that keep the economy afloat. This bloke talks absolute bollocks from a very biased point of view. As a paddy why do they find it so offensive to be controlled from Londonistan but find it acceptable to be ruled from the capital of the Fourth Reich, Brussels. Hypocrisy on a magnificent scale.
Ian Woodward a lot of lawyers become MP’s
Clearly Mr Woodward, you have never needed a lawyer...
Michael Dougan is a remainer, say no more! Bye!
hmmmm i wonder if this chap has a agenda..fuck this fool
In educating people, perhaps? He is a professor after all.
Does this angry, lying shit stain STILL reckon that Parliament has sovereignty over all its laws ? If he does it's because he is a FUCKING LIAR
This was the speech that made my mind up to vote remain. My god this video has aged well. He was right, every single word. Great work.
Listening to him persuaded me to vote Remain.
I've not a clue what's going on. I'd believe a professor everytime over a MP
Have come back to this in 2018 to remember how much was known before the vote and how much was ignored.
I'm sorry. The power of decision was handed to the racist, stupid, short-sighted, spiteful old bastards. Even if any of them had watched this, it wouldn't have changed what passes for the minds of most of them.
Dishonesty on an industrial scale, yes from the beginning, by many. If your PM signs you into a club knowing you would never have agreed, then I and many others could see it wasn't for our benefit, only theirs. We could see the media was being used for remain in the 75 vote, anybody who had anything other than their version to say was shouted down. The nations newspapers bar the Dundee Gazette where for remain. We can see the same methods have been used all over Europe, to quickly build a Federal state with un elected leaders and a looming Army. They have been brainwashing our youth for years, so we now have pockets of remainer's across the land, mainly in University areas. Since Article 50 was signed after our Leave vote, our Civil Service have been hurriedly signing us into the EU army, even our foreign policy is to be governed by them. Why was HMS Daring spotted on route to the Black Sea some days ago? Why are Russian warships ramming Ukrainian tugboats? do our un-elected business men in Brussels fancy a war. Will we get to vote on it? Why anyone would want to be a member has been a mystery to me since we joined. Dress it up how ever you want, deny what ever you want, paint it as black as you want or as rosy as you want, my mind was made up on the 1st January 1973 before the ink had dried, a Treasonous act, and I've seen or heard nothing to change my mind in the slightest, since that day.
Nothing else compares to the single market - not exactly like for like but the United States itself as a large sovereign state.
One thing that annoys me if that I didn’t believe any of the leave nonsense that was out there and I was a remain supporter but I’m also happy to leave for various reasons given we are anyway. I don’t need people to assume I was lied to for my beliefs. The extreme supporters on both sides are extremely irritating.
Totally biased and without any balanced or thought through ideas. Useless debate. Brainwashing kids at university. Appalling.
2 years on.....and look at us now... dear dear...
Sad how accurate this video has been. Can we have an update on what we do now as it's pretty clear the UK has no idea what it is doing?
well I'm sure this ever so clever prof. will save us all in from this armageddon
This guy is a moron..... the EU should not be making any laws... that's the issue. #moron
It's now almost September 2018. Have the rights of EU27/UK citizens in each other's countries been resolved yet? NI border? The incompetence is staggering. Even Vote Leave said "we will negotiate before triggering any legal processes"
Of course those who eat from the EU's table, will wish to remain. However the vast majority of working class citizens do not eat from the EU's table, indeed the EU has removed the food from their table, and they voted accordingly.
ruclips.net/video/M5ddyqMXpik/видео.html a different viewpoint of same issues. And amount of EU law imposes on UK sovereignty.
