Greek Mythology Love Poem | Orpheus and Eurydice | Spoken Word Group Poem | Marjan & Jack Shwartz
💖 This is a healing love poem and a retelling of an old myth, Orpheus and Eurydice. Orpheus is born to Calliope, an emotionally manipulative mother, and Apollo, an abusive drunken father. Later in life, Orpheus falls in love with Eurydice. On their wedding day, Orpheus must go into the underworld to save Eurydice, but at the last minute, she disappears and Orpheus has to grapple with the loss of returning from the underworld alone.
Marjan Naderi and Jack Shwartz are students at The University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA. This video was recorded by Americans for The Arts at the 2022 Annual Arts Convention in Washington, D.C.
