Changing LS1 power steering pump hose fitting to -AN style fitting
Просмотров 19 тыс.10 лет назад
Wanting to make a little series of videos when i turbo my stroker and this is my first attempt at making a video, will hopefully get good at it before any of the good stuff happens.. In this vid i simply change in the inlet of the Power steering pump to a compression fitting allowing it to be adapted to AN style fittings. any tips and pointers on making the vids are welcome! build thread here: ...

little skid at gillins

just felt like doing a skid at gillins joint, see what the 245s turn like
Did you put anything between the male and female fittings? Or did they seal up with just metal against metal?
The fitting that go to the hose side are AN flare style fittings so its just metal to metal, and the fittings that go into the reservoir use a copper washer from memory.
@@SL1D1N Thank you!
What sort of power is that beast making
With that set up it made around 315rwkw, now it's got a 76mm turbo with the exact same engine and makes 460rwkw
Mate shes a weapon i have a VZ SS ls1 6spd Manual and im looking for options and needles to say your beast has given me some ideas on what to do to it
@@NVSLS3 Cheers! yeah it was a tuff setup, big converter sounded mint but if you want to go fast go straight to forced induction
@@SL1D1N yea im trying to find a nice cam that sounds epic but can still be driven on the daily
@@NVSLS3 yeah theres plenty out there too choose from, best bet is getting advice from someone that builds them day in day out or go in some mates cars and take note of how they drive and the cam and engine specs etc
Who built this
I built pretty much everything with some help from Seres Engineering, except the trans and diff
Still happy with it mate? No leaks?
Yep! Still works and looks great. Not a single drop, no weeps or film, nothing, and its been turbo now for 3 years so that area see's a lot a heat as well. Cheers
@@SL1D1N Brilliant, thanks for the video and reply. does the build link have the part numbers of the parts you used?
@@Funkyflykiwi nahh sorry mate, and i did this over 6 years ago so i cant remember much. They are pretty standard fittings though. Most of the aluminium fitting brands will stock them.
I know this is old but what pump and reservoir did you use?
Pump is the factory one and the reservior is Aeroflow
Nice job.
Reporting this for sexual content.
How much power did it make on the dyno?
Cant remember exactly, was just under 300rwkw with this setup from memory
Nice trees
I find it poor practice to use adjustable wrenches on those aluminum fittings. Wrap the fittings with tape, use a properly sized six point socket wrench, a good line wrench, or perhaps even the aluminum wrenches designed for soft A-N Fittings. Or else be prepared to touch-up the color with paint or a felt tip. Also be careful not to over tighten those aluminum fittings as they can self destruct, after all, they are only soft aluminum not hard steel (Don't ask how I know this)....RooDog
Short section with no audio due to copyright of a song on the radio haha
I giggled a little bit at 1:03 when it was coming back.... you hear nothing, then BOOM there it is! Awesome setup! Just the right amount of noise, lope, and response. Nicely done!
cheers!! its a turbo stroker now, will put a new vid up soon. :)
Nice car buddy. Im doing a 383 stroker build also in a c1500. Ls swap!
head and big cam will get you 10s easy
You clearly have no idea what your talking about... however feel free to link me some head and cam LS1's that run 'easy 10's'
why so slow? should be running flat 10s
flat 10's huh?!?!...... ok mate.... lol makes no where near enough power for flat 10's
with the MPH its doing, in a perfect world would maybe JUST scrape into the 10's... (121 MPH)
what brand fitting and series did you use?
proflow fittings, the compression fitting is a 5/8 tube to male -10AN adapter, then a 120 degree forged push on end.
j and d seres.... is that steels place ?
sure is! im good mates with steel
Yeah cool does good work . his xr6 is ridiculous insane haha
Ben Muir yeah things a beast! thats his channel down the bottom... YLDXRT
a camera man would of helped
not at all, because the lobe seperation is slighty higher to suit forced it settles down the idle ect. i actually got my tuner to play with the idle so it sounded more lumpy than it was, but this did make it a bit of a pig to drive, i had a look at your page and personally i think it would be good for your setup... the cams not overly big so you wont loose all bottom end but at the same time is big enough to make strong power threw the whole rev range.
cheers, yeah thats the cam, was originally going turbo thats why i bought it, made just over 250 at the tyres on a very accurate dyno. have raced quite a few LS1s thow making high "200s" and it usually keeps up if not wins, goes pretty well considering the cams desgined for forced induction
@axemurderer101 theres is an air filter in it, its just a bad angle.. its really not that bad. i think after time the heat must get to it and warp the plastic a little
it just looks dodgy the way its collapsing on itself, probably because there is no air filter in it.
@axemurderer101 what makes it dodgy? it does the job fine, for the difference in price then is almost no benifit of buying a polished aluminuim one except for the look.
lol dodgy plastic otr at 0.08
