Do you have a video where you ran the cables and connected the two batteries
No I don’t but I believe there is some videos out there that do show how to do that.
Are you any good at working on a 03 Mitsubishi Eclipse gts 3.0l I have a really bad oil leak above the oil pan
@@jaredpusch I haven’t worked on a Mitsubishi since I had my gsx. I would assume it’s probably a bad pan gasket. Might have to pull off and rtv seal it or whatever is supposed to go on it from factory.
Please don’t put a Chevy motor in it😭😭
@@kateB2228 no my buddy already did a turbo ls in his.
What do these bov soubd like?
How do you determine which spring to use?
How noisy was your engine on running
It was pretty bad before the 15-40. Motor was already out the door
Ok I was wondering why I have no oil pressure coming out my oil sensor hole but my engine is absolutely quiet running cause I’m leaning on cam bushings but I thought the engine would make sum noise
@@Carolina1created I would look into the pick up tube o ring and oil pump and yes possibly a cam bearing can do that. I believe this motor the came bearing left the chat.
Is that caprice for sale?
Well how did you get the airbag out
There are two tabs in the back of the steering wheel both sides you can put a Allen key in and release and pull the airbag out.
Thanks For the video, good details, made it easy to swap..😎👍🏻
I bought 1 of these a few years ago and was very impressed with it's performance. Since then my mind has changed, it's become a leaky, sloppy pig. I contacted PSC about PURCHASING a reseal kit & recieved no reply. From what I understand this is common.
Unfortunately yes I’ve been hearing that too. It seems like it’s hard to find a decent steering box that isn’t made with cheap parts
@@Wrenchin_boys Truly hope you have better luck than I did.
Those are valve seals
Guides? Those are valve seals….
Was this 4k stall a single disk or a triple disk?
I believe it was a triple disc but I can’t remember.
What is the max psi you cna run on these? I'm running 23lbs. Wondering if it will hold that.
Not sure on max psi. I’m sure it would hold 23psi
@@Wrenchin_boys awesome man thanks for the reply
Would it be the same for an 01 Yukon steering wheel
Should be. 99-02 wheels are the same between Chevy and gmc suv and trucks. 03 + is a different style wheel.
I wanna hear it?
Have to watch a couple more videos I have one of me doing some burnouts. I blew up my motor. I’m in the process of doing a twin turbo build.
Jack the ass end up two feet at least I have three extra quarts of oil if the oil pressure increases then it's the pickup tube o-ring also could be cam plate also if you get an oil leak the oil pressure sensor from the factory in the back of the engine will start to feel a little oil then massive amounts of oil also the aftermarket parts are that are usually bad quality mine failed after 6 months also watch the video where a guy uses Alias totally awesome only idling for 10 minutes then changes oil and get crap out of the engine when you had never changed her oil for like 27,000 miles so he had to do this six times in a row I'll try something like transmission fluid or seafoam maybe the last 500 miles and then change the oil again I like the idea of dropping a little out filtering it putting it back in running up and down the road for 5-10 Mi dropping the oil out again same old oil then replacing new oil this way you get more junk out
Thanks. Yea cycling the oil helps alot getting it cleaned out. I normally do a oil change drive it a normal cycle then change it again.
No! Don't it's the pick up seal on oil pump , I ruined a 6.0 like that
It was a spun cam bearing so it wasn’t going to hurt the motor anymore than what was done
Ok-!?
A 3 dollar fix. Drop the oil pan, change the pick up o ring. Problem solved why put in a new motor??
If the o ring looked good, then it wasnt set in the pump all the way
It spun a cam bearing there was no saving that motor. But yes oil pick up o ring is normally the cause
How is that turbo 400 working out over time? I was considering one of those fti or a rossler if I could afford one. Thanks
I hate to say it but I got rid of the truck , but in the process of building another one. That th400 was a very good trans. Never had any problems. Daily drove the truck with some heavy acceleration some days. The unit I got was second hand from a race shop. But if you plan on daily driving I’d recommend a 4l80e with my past experience, just to have overdrive.
for the bov which spring you use ?
I believe it was the bigger thicker one it comes with.
hey man, if i use the bottom port to run my boost reference to the intake manifold or turbo (i haven't decided), do i have to plug the holes on the top half of the wastegate or can i just leave them
Leave them open
@@mr.lowslow7702 haha yeah I figured 😅
Why did you choose to run double Wastegate
I was running a twin scroll turbo hotside. One wastegate for each side. Each manifold fed one side of the turbo.
What springs do you have in them?
I did have the 8 pound springs
Did you modify your stock crossmeber for the th400 if so what was done to it?
I believe I used the stock nv3500 cross member
@@Wrenchin_boys it fit perfect as the factory GM one?
@@douglasgarcia2731 yea as far as I know I didn’t have to modify it at all. Just put a poly mount on it and it bolted in
@@Wrenchin_boys I appreciate it I have a th400 and it’s goin in my 05 Silverado wanted to see what crossmeber worked for you thanks
Any updates
Sorry I never got around to installing as I had to sell my truck. From everything I’ve read and heard this box is amazing
So on the wastegate where did you install your top plug and did you install the bottom plug to your turbo
We left the top plug open as we weren’t running a c02 application. Used the bottom one and ran it to vac block. Nothing went to the turbo after I changed turbo setups. Going to the turbo probably would of been the best option.
@@Wrenchin_boys awesome and the waste gate
It may appear its helping but in reality its no good for the engine. Always use what manufacture recommends there is a reason for this. Better to fix the issue then bandaid it with thicker oil.
The motor already spun a cam bearing so just was a experimental thing we did. Just wanted to see if that would help or not. Always go by manufacturers specs
Install video update?
Not yet will be here in a month or so. Starting to do a frame off restoration so will have to wait until my frame comes back. My old truck frame is bad so I decided not to put the box in it.
Have a vw cc 2.0tsi ccta dohc. Engine has a filter in cambridge.. known to pop out. it dislodged shortly after an oil change when i got the car.. ate the ends of my cams, vvt solenoid failed. now i have low oil pressure and pretty bad wear on cams. I dont have the money to fix so im cleaning the cambridge, lubing the ends of cams and cambridge, so when i start car its not dry and flushing the engine, then adding 5w40/ oil stabilizer. If it runs.. it runs. some of us broke bois
Hey you have to do what you have to do sometimes. No shame here I’ve done some stuff like that to get by. It’s better to address the problem before it’s really bad.
@@Wrenchin_boys Yep. If i known what i do now i could of taken it apart.. but sadly once the car tells you it has low oil pressure damaged has probably happened already.. My car had not only dirty oil.. but a known and common defect where the cambridge screen fails. Metal to metal is never good. Even if your oil is dirty it wont do a whole lot until metal actually dislodges and tears into things.. my friend has a jeep.. idk the engine i just knew it was one of the bad years. Car would drive okish. Felt slugish but we assumed normal age. The engine spun a bearing shortly after.. the oil on the ground from the engine block cracking was the dirtiest ive ever seen, and we changed the oil shortly after buying so sludge must have been present. Now im an enthusiast and have no education in mechanics.. but i do my own research and think at a certain point oil can be so dirty its best to leave it there, like in a transmission? Some people say oil pressure issues can show up after an oil change. From my experience and how i think about it. In reality the sludge just breaks loose and clogges things eventually causing damage. For my engine drivetrain wear is more common than main bearings because bearings recieve oil first after cooler and filter. Again not an expert.. but i wonder why companies use so many pressure reducers and oil screens throughout the engine. Its just another thing that can break lose, and if you were a good boy and change your oil. Ur filter does 80 percent of the actual filtering from what i know. Infact in cases where the cambridge screen blows our and there arent any symptoms.. most people remove it and they dont replace it because its a known failure.
@@readylucas I total agree once the motor is metal on metal it’s pretty much done for. It’s just a time bomb. Changing oil and filters is a must.
How are you liking the fti 400? I just bought the stage 4 th400. Haven't installed yet and I'm in the process of building my engine atm.
I loved the trans it never had any issues. Shifted nice and firm every time. I’d say it was a great buy on my end for the project.
@@Wrenchin_boysthanks, just what I needed to hear.
Great video dude. I just bought a GT45 off eBay for my engine swap project
Thanks. The eBay turbos will last for a while but I was getting some decent shaft play by the end of a season of driving the truck.
Never hurts to try. How's the 6.0 holding up?
The 6.0 held up nice until I spun a bearing doing rolling burn outs. Will have to look for that video on the channe
Awesome video thanks for uploading
Please keep us updated on how the steering feels. I’m on the fence because of all the shitty/good reviews on the blue, red and psc boxes.
Definitely will do. I’m just waiting on my vacuum pump seals and a new power steering pump.
Its blown up drive it up on the trailer!
Was able to salvage the motor at least by not driving it on the trailer. Crank was definitely toast though!
Are they the New Gen 2? I had 1 of 2 go bad on me it seized up but it was 1 of the older ones.
I believe these were the newest version on them at the time
A thicker oil will only cause oil pressure to go up because of how much more force is required by the pump to move it. So just because it says your oil pressure is higher, it doesn’t mean that your engine is getting any more lubrication. Not being an arse, just trying to help.
It’s okay we completely understand what was happening. Just a little experiment just to see how the motor would take it.
@@Wrenchin_boys what he said is not completely true. Over time after going through so many heat cycles your pistons shrink so the thicker oil is better for the barrier between the piston and cylinder wall. That being said the engine was knocking prior to you doing this so it wouldn't have helped out anyway. I also own an 04 5.3 silverado with 218,000 miles and I personally run 10 40w mobile one full synthetic.
@@MOTOHEAD-ko3tq Thats understandable. Yeah the motor was toast already just wanted to see if the oil would help. We run thicker oil in are old trucks up here because it does actually help out with pressure and quieting the motor down.
Where can I get these ?
Summit racing sells vs racing products
Hey bro I’m building a 04 Sierra 5.3. But having issues on turbo-downpipe from leaking. And idk if I’m plumbing my boost psi gauge correctly. I have line from bov to passenger side of intake and in between I have a tee to gauge. But got truck fired up not showing boost. Idk if it’s because it has a horrible leak or my plumbing on gauge or maybe it my wastegate not working properly
I always ran a vacuum block so I had everything on its own port. Your gauge also won’t show boost until your driving it. It will be in vacuum at idle. If you think you have a leak there is a video that shows you how to make a boost leak tester for like 30 dollars. And you spray your couplers with soapy water and it will show if any leaks. Kinda like if you have a hole in your tire and spray soapy water on it. I hope that helps you
Wish someone sold a manifold kit like this/
4:25 for actual idle clip
What year was the truck that had the 4.8 you sold me
04 I believe
What happened when you didn’t install that o ring? Would you not build boost? I also forgot to install that and just installed it hopefully will be able to build boost.
It definitely causes a boost leak if you don’t put it in
Hi did you mig or tig the exhaust
We mig the hotside and tig the cool side.
If your breaking things, your not having fun!
I agree with that!
So let’s talk drive shaft yoke. I went with th400 also and the yoke is the same spline and goes right onto the tail shaft. But it only engages 2” and won’t go anymore. The factory 400 fixed yoke was engaged 3.5”. Did you have that issue and is that why you cut 2” off the nv3500 yoke?
Yea was having issues with the yoke bottoming out in the th400. So we cut off 2inches. Later on I think we cut off some more off the yoke. Like another 1inch. Just wanted to make sure if I jumped on the truck it wouldn’t destroy the transmission and the yoke had some wiggle room. I haven’t had any problems with the way we did it. Just make sure to measure your yoke and make sure it has clearance or else you might ruin a transmission.
@@Wrenchin_boys was there enough engagement on the splines?
@@williamwebb6289 yes there was plenty
