Susan Collins sang back up vocals on Speedin Back to my Baby not Ace's wife. Its on the linear notes. Jeanette did contribute a few lyrics which is why she has songwriting credit. I did hear an interview with Susan in which she talked about getting the gig with Ace. Turns out she and her husband sang in a local band that Ace really liked.
Yep I stand corrected, thank you for the info. LOL I have always wondered why she never sang again because it sounded so good.
Ace's solo album is definitely my favorite of the 4.
Which one comes in 2nd place?
Ace Frehley is the master. He rules the universe.

The Girls liked Paul & Peter ..The Guys liked Ace .Gene was just something to laugh at.
Is this your opinion or do you have something to back this up? Because I'm not sure I agree completely.
@HooliganNation-77 it was the general consensus in my neighborhood back in the day..oh & New York Groove was nothing but a huge disappointment for Me.
that’s what’s so amazing about the KISS Army. Dude you like what you like and you don’t like what you don’t like. It’s all good !
Dude, New York Groove,Hard Times and Rocket Ride are (imo) 100xs better than New York Groove.....and Ace was not the star in Kiss as great as he was. Kiss is DRC, SIOL,Love Gun,Dr.Love and yes😊 RRAN.
I think I would agree with that, Rocket Ride is my favorite Ace song in KISS, love Hard Times, Shick Me and Dark Light also. New York Groove is Ace solo. I love Rock and Roll all Night without a doubt, at least the live versions but it's just so overplayed. I do not want to hear that song on the radio, its a must hear and see live no matter how many times it's played though. Great comment !
good comment
@@HooliganNation-77 agree with r & r all night thoughts for sure
@johnrotondo6591 thanks
Ace's solo album was the best but it still didn't compare to the rest of the Kiss studio albums.
Interesting comment. You think the Elder is better than Ace's solo album?
@@HooliganNation-77 Let me rephrase it. "The original Six Studio albums". I listened to Elder once, and thought it was awful. They were trying something deep but failed.
Not watching the video, but yes... he was.
I like Pauls album. Good power pop. Better than Genes.
A lot of fun on this episode Great Solo Album- love it
I love everything about this podcast, great job!
😊
Thank you !
The best of the best. Great episode and you guys are funny
thank you !
Does anyone have any positive thoughts on the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame?
The HALL OF SHAME!
Does anyone think the Hall of Fame is legitimate in any way?
The Half Fame is a joke.
Where do you think Mark Slaughter would be without VV??
Thanks for the comment👍 Musicians always network each other. I’m sure if the drive & determination is there. Obviously the talent is there. Connections never hurt.
Probably right where he is..........
No. With a band like KISS the parts were not greater than the whole.
I think it's very easy to say that, that is FACT! No one has real lasting success without being under the KISS umbrella.
Stanly and Gene would be nothing without Ace.
But do you think Ace would be something without Paul and Gene?
@@HooliganNation-77 Yea he was that good.
@@tuberider2077 I strongly disagree, I love Ace, but if that were true then they would not have been able to make some of the great albums that followed after he was gone. In the beginning those four guys needed each other equally in my opinion.
Like what it was all garbage after unmasked even that album was questionable. The Paul Stanly hair rock of the 80's was just bad .
Absolutely agree! The makeup made them stand out, but diminished their musical talents.
Great episode! Did you really throw shade at Ace?! Wow!!! Loved Paul’s solo album ❤
I still love the Spaceman. It’s more like showing some live to Bruce
Do it!! Street Hustler
Love it and its sooooo true !
Yes it is !
Great vid!
Thank you !
As a Peter Criss Fan, this album hurts…I am going to take another listen to it again to see if I can like some things!
Like the album cover? or the silence between songs ?
At least the Album artwork is awesome.
I don’t think there would have been a Paul Stanley without Gene. Because of him being eccentric and having that mastermind money making brain, Gene put KISS on the map. Paul is the show, Gene is the operation.
This idea has been refuted by Paul Stanley a lot.
They were a team that was meant to be,in my opinion for sure.
I totally agree with the episode. Songs were weird, not always terrible, but Gene being who is is didn’t fit with this music!
I think KISS lost sight of what made them a super group, & that was loud, hard, heavy rock n roll. They got too focused on recording a "Hit" & playing what was popular or the latest trend. Dynasty didn't suck but, it was a step down from their previous 6 records. Creatures of the Night was a great album that would have been even better with Ace & Peter on it. I listened to Unmasked & the Elder at a buddy's house & after hearing them, never considered buying them for my collection. KISS became "Pop-Metal" which did nothing for me. I was a KISS fan since I was a kid in 1975 but, once I discovered (early) Metallica & Slayer, I never thought about KISS again..... Until they put the make-up back on & did the reunion tour
Since they put the makeup back on, have you added Dynasty and The Elder and do you feel any different about those albums now?
@@HooliganNation-77 I always had Dynasty. It has some good songs on it, I just didn't think it held its own against the previous KISS albums. I never bought Unmasked or the Elder. Once KISS took off the make-up, they were basically just another "Glam Band" & I HATED Glam-Metal from the start. My tastes were always for the heaviest music around. Once KISS took off the make-up, I started listening to Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax, Exodus ETC. I still love a lot of 70's Hard Rock like KISS, Black Sabbath, Ted Nugent, AC/DC & many others though.... I'm currently obsessed with a new band I just discovered called "Knocked Loose."
The Ace Frehley solo album was probably the best studio album ever released with a KISS logo on the cover. The Paul Stanley solo album is a distant second with Gene Simons solo record close behind & the Peter Criss solo record is a complete flop.
That is one strong statement. We will be discussing your comment on our Kissmas Special which will come out on December 20th. It's a great comment worthy of a discussion, thank you.
@@HooliganNation-77 Just my opinion, nobody else has to agree with it. I'll be interested in catching that discussion just to see how you guys feel but, it won't change my mind.
Gene-This was not a God of Thunder album 🙂
lol
What's your favorite song from Gene Simmons 1978 solo album?
When you wish upon a star !
Great episode!
Good Stuff🎸
That Stryper/Loudness/TNT tour was a Top 3 show ever for me, in Spartanburg SC.
Great show !
Re- watched this episode One of my favorites
Cool Clip 😎
thank you !
Peter's problem was that he was the oldest member of the band and having been born in '45 or '46, he was heavily influenced more by 50's rock 'n roll rather than The Beatles (like Gene and Paul) or Hendrix (like Ace). And sadly, he kept thinking KISS fans wanted songs that were more in line with that. We did not. He was good for ballads, but you can only do so many.
I've always loved his '78 album, all his solo albums I like.
Thank you for sharing We appreciate your feedback. Vocally I will always love Peter. I was disappointed that there were not more songs like Black Diamond or Baby Driver.
The episode is great, the album is not good......
Thank you!
Thank you for your take keep them coming.
Peter Criss's solo album is a tough listen, the things we do as KISS fans lol
Great episode !
Thank you!
Was a Fun episode
yep it was fun in that smokey lounge in vegas!
