Board Game Crusaders
Добавлен 5 янв 2014
This channel was originally designed for my game nights. I intended to tell everyone what we were going to play and have them check out the rules here before the event. I also hate reading rules myself and prefer to have someone tell me how to play. So down the line when I want to crack open a game I haven't played in a while I can show me how to play. This can also help you learn the rules of a game before you buy it to see if it is your style.

Thanks for that! A great video 😊
Confusing game
Thank you for this video! I just got this game last week, new in box! My kids and I played it from instructions. We had many questions after and this video answered a lot of them. Maybe I missed it but how do you divvy up the command cards? There are 24 in total, so do each player get 6? Or pick 4 from 6 options? Some of the cards appear to pertain to certain races, does each race have their own cards to select from? I couldn't see and markings on the cards that definitely indicate certain cards are for certain races. Does each players command cards have to have different strategy, or can a player have 4 devious cards in their hand? Thank you for your time and help. We really appreciate this video.
To bad the game is bad
Great tutorial !
Hi! We got some doubt about attack cars and some counter-attack or status spell that we don't know if it's just the rulebook or card text translation fault. For example if a wizard has the invisibility status (i hope this is the english name of the card) he can roll 2-4 to avoid the attack. But what about "attack"? Any attack? If i try to play a mind control against him that allow me to move him up to three space, does his invisibility status can avoid my attack? Yes my it's an attack card, but hit everywhere and in logic it's not a body attack so how invisibility can avoid it? May be in the english version of the card it's more specified about that and specify "phisical attack"? Another example is the counter-attack that allow the damaged wizard to steal an artifact after an attack... but what about ranged spell attack? I guess it could steal an object only after an attack with near wizards, like a punch... but not after a ranged fireball. So, i've not understand if in the english versione there's more detail about kind of attacks, or the rules got the same "problem". What do you think about it?
Good job. Thank you. The reference sheet from the Esoteric Order of Gamers, and the boom of cheap sets out there still to be sold is giving this game a resurgence.
New revised edition + banners of war tutorial would be great to watch ;)
Is this Catacombs 1st edition?
Yes its 1st
Would you be able to count the map tile size from bottom to top and from left to right? Would love to know in CMs Great video in general!
This video is gold
I have a question on retreating. If an archer rolls a flag and forces me to retreat at such an angle that there is not one hex directly behind me but 2, a left and a right, which hex do I retreat to? Thanks for the help.
Thank you so much for this video, and I appreciate all the comments. My son and I play castle panic, forbidden desert, and dragonwood. I was scared away by War of the Ring, but I'm definitely excited to upgrade the strategy to this game!
Pretty sure the plus 2 to zombie kill would mean you add two zombies to your roll hence kill 2 more then your roll shows ?
The only thing you didn't explain is "pinned". When a unit is forced to retreat while there is an enemy unit behind the unit, the enemy unit is treated like impassavle terrain. This causes the unit to be pinned and lose 1 damage for each space they can't move.
30:16 From the rules: "It is possible to initiate combat against an enemy character located in a starting zone. This is particularly useful if a character is blocking an exit. The character located in the starting zone *must be facing the room zone containing the attacking character and must not be separated from him by a wall, arrow-slit, pit trap, or closed portcullis.* Similarly, a character in a starting zone can initiate combat against an enemy character located in the room zone he is facing." My interpratation of this is that close combat on the starting zones have the same type of restrictions you find when trying to enter that entrance room with your character in the starting zone. In other words, for you to be able to start close combat against a character in the starting zone, you must be in a zone that is adjacent to the character, *and* that character has to be facing that zone. So for instance, in the scenario shown in the video, that character couldn't currently be attacked, as he is adjacent to the square and circle zones but is facing the triangle zone. You may ask yourself (as I did) "but hey, then what's the point, he's untouchable with this rule, what's the advantage here?". The advantage is that he only blocks one of your characters from exiting the labyrinth *through the zone he is facing*, so you could simply exit with your characters through the square and circle zones. meaning that at some point the player with the character in the starting zone would be faced with the question: "do I keep my character facing this zone and be immune to attacks or do I change it and block this particular zone from being a way out, forcing a combat if he wants to go through here?".
26:31 The only restriction to jumps is that the place to which you're *jumping to* cannot have an *unwounded enemy character*. So in the situation you're depicting, sure, you'd have to end your movement prematurely from encountering an opponent, but you could, after ending the movement action, spend another action point and jump to the square zone from the triangle one, leaving your opponent's character behind.
19:28 I don't know if I just interpreted what you're saying the wrong way, but from the manual: "To change which zone the character is facing, use one of the character’s *movement* points", which means you just use one of your movement points, not an entire *action* point solely changing the orientation of the card, right? EDIT: I continued watching and you did mean what I tought. It is incorrect, spinning a character's orientation on the starting zone only consumes one of your *movement* points, but it is, obviously, part of your movement action, it is not an entire separate action.
You are correct. I was completely wrong. I will attempt to amend that as soon as I have time.
Something I'm not so sure about still is about the initial set up placement of the face-down rooms and their subsequent revealing. Am I supposed to shuffle them without turning them "sideways"? As they are square I figured you could shuffle them for placement randomizing not just their order but their orientation as well, but if that is the case and I'm allowed to shuffle them that way, why would it matter as it says on the rules (and you say on the video) if I reveal them all in the same fashion (say, revealing them always by flipping them over through their vertical axis or always through their horizontal axis)? Don't know if my doubt is clear, hope it is lol, thanks in advance.
I am not sure what the question is here. It seems to me that you are questioning the need of randomizing the orientation of the cards? Randomizing the orientation is important, but you probably don't need to actively do it as you will be grabbing them in no particular orientation and that alone will ensure they are at a random orientation. If you feel better twisting them while shuffling you can. but you may find that you bend your cards by doing this if you are not careful.
I read all the manuals but videos like your are great for refresher and to see if i got the rules right so thanks for your hard work hope you keep making videos of this type
Super cool
Some errors.. at 4:35. You reveal dragon runes when you place the victory card, not when you cone back to it next year to claim your victory.
Thank you for the update/ correction. I realize that I did this with a first edition, and now all you can buy is 2nd edition so some of the rules have been updated. Im thinking of doing a newer version covering the new runes. But we shall see...
Please do
Video is quite old but a couple of things to note since I just came across it. The beads aren't needed for the extra giants and two giants weren't missing from the game. Those tiles should list 1 giant instead of 2. That's listed as errata for the 1st edition. Also, if you have the second edition, the restrictions for placing home markers is less. You can place them next to mountains and rivers and you only need to be 3 hexes (not 4) away from another home tile.
Thank you for your update. I am glad people are still finding my old videos. Perhaps I will do a new one with the 2nd edition rules as that is what people will be buying now. We shall see if time will be kind enough for that venture.
Thanks for the excellent review. What is the name of the expansion you mentioned? Thanks.
Banners of war
The archers only roll 2 dice for attack.
Like the video, one question tho. When you attacked the second player with 8attack both his dices had 6health. I thought one would take 6damage and the other 2damagec (18mins)
Sorry. It is hard to see in the video and I was not very clear. His 6 defense was from 3 on each dice, not 6 on each nice. You are correct that if they had 6 each one would survive.
you can go into decline at the end of your turn?
Far as the rules say going into decline is your turn since you cant conquest on your turn and go into decline you have to do one or the other. Then on your following turn you select your next race. I know comment is from like two years ago but answering for anyone else who happens along and is curious since the uploader never answered the question.
@@TrackerRoo Thank you for replying. I have sort of forgotten this page existed till recently. I am considering getting back into it, but cant seem to find the time. Fingers crossed for more content in 2019. I guess well see in 5 years though.. LOL
Board Game Crusaders I sort of have the same thing going on, need to upload more :/
awesome i love this game its fucking like mtg meets tabletop fantasy i enjoy playing with bonus rules like uncluttered minds and permanent creations im trying out atm ;)
it's incorrect that you always get resource tokens from your home base as long as it's uncontested. getting resources at home base is the same as if your in a refinery; you need to control it AND have a miner in it. If this wasn't the case the rulebook would have spelled this exception out.
I know I said this earlier to another poster, but it is true here as well... Thank you for the feedback. I did this while I was trying to pop out tons of videos and hadn't actually played the game yet. I have learned that it is best to play games before doing an instructional video. And that lead to a lack of time which lead to no new videos. Perhaps Ill reshoot and correct this...
Thanks very much for these Runewars video`s. You teach the game very well. Cheers
Buildings prevent 1 damage from each attack or non-attack damaging effect. They do not protect you from anything else. Also, your starting hands of 4 and 2 are created by drawing 6 Command cards and putting 2 back under the deck, and drawing 3 Lore cards and putting 1 back under the deck.

I'll speak on behalf of the 1k + views... thank you :) These vids help a lot!
I think that during the battle the rock could've attacked back even though it died because it has the same initiative as the reanimates right? I mean the draw order is sequential but the resolution is simoltanious. I am not sure. p22 Concurrent atack rule images-cdn.fantasyflightgames.com/filer_public/9f/aa/9faa23a3-9f71-4c77-865f-bba4aac8a258/runewars-revised-_rulebook.pdf
ruclips.net/video/y1fhrNdxBTw/видео.html I found the answers in the revised edition if still interested, I guess you are right :P thank you for this vid too, pretty awesome =) p36: images-cdn.fantasyflightgames.com/filer_public/9f/aa/9faa23a3-9f71-4c77-865f-bba4aac8a258/runewars-revised-_rulebook.pdf
ruclips.net/video/0rggCXDeo4I/видео.html according to p31 you dont draw new objective after completing the one you draw at the beginning, nice vid though and this rule maybe only in the revised edition I dont have the big box edition thx for uploading =) also, in the revised edition p8 says that one false and one real dragon rune should be placed by each hero, not three.
Interesting how you pasted the box illustrations on your own contianer
nice review thanks for your time
Thumbs up and I just watched the intro so far. I am sure I'm in for a pretty good video :)
Great game. Would love to see this redone with a Starship Troopers theme. Just seems to be a perfect game for it.
One correction and one comment. The correction is that assistants can't go on Quests. I would like to see you do another video incorporating the new rules for Dark vs. Light. I think it is the best way to play the game. Thanks for this.
When you put your race in decline, your next turn, when you have a new race, do you have to get on the board from the outside borders again, just like your very first turn at the start of the game?
Yes.
Buildings only allow you to ignore *Damage* rolls. Double Sword, Single Sword, and Piercing die results. Buildings do not allow you to ignore Retreat or Heroic die results.
I have no idea what you are saying
you’re correct, video is wrong on this one
can actually get a 3x3 piece of felt on amazon, I got one and love it for this game, no need to measure and cut. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0042SUKCE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
This game is out of print now. :-(
I found a copy on eBay
great tutorial. thanks!
Wow, I tried watching two other intros to this game and this was the only one where the narrator knew how to adjust the focus. So far so good.
lol 7 years later and its still the only video where the narrator knows how to focus
