Both exhilarating and devastatingly sad at the same time. This is what music should be like. Mysterious, nostalgic, beautiful, packed with melody, packed with great lines, so evocative: “that stretch of road running to LA”… Could it be the best song of all time by anyone?

I love the sparseness of these tracks. Just shows... with a great song and singer, you don't need a bazillion tracks muddying up the record. Been a fan since his first LP 👍...

A few months ago I had a dream and I was hearing this song, though I couldn't exactly place it. I just recall the lines "Better bring your own redemption when you come; to the barricades of heaven where I'm from." The dream was accompanied by a certain kind of bitter-sweet feeling, I noticed upon awakening...

Yep, I heard it as a teen in the late 90s on his greatest hits album and have loved it ever since. I feel like if it came out in the 70s or 80s it would be one of his well known songs

Better bring your OWN redemption. Someone said to me "It doesn't go that deep, bro". I replied "Yes it does, BRO. You are proving my point." The waters are deep & wide. The barricades are firmly in place. But I don't expect EVERYONE to get it. I simply HOPE they DO.
