Great analysis by judge Larry Moore, as he highlighted and studied along with the viewer these masterful works. I particularly appreciate his viewpoint--and intention--as a judge---in selecting a range of genres for the various awards: that abstracts, landscape, still life, etc. would be included in the Top 10. Judging artworks is a demanding job, especially if the judge goes beyond his personal preferences, and wishes to delve into the "behind-the-scenes" aspects of each work. And I notice that Larry said in closing that he'd "have to take a week off after this one!" Amazing, beautiful, accomplished and inspiring watercolor works in this show--thank you, artists, NWS and judge!

Mr Kennedy’s analysis was excellent. I’m a watercolor artist and love watching the various watercolor society’s online shows. I have a BFA plus post graduate credits, and sometimes I wonder why certain paintings were accepted into a show. His explanation of why the paintings work was very helpful. I feel like I learned as much as I would have in a three credit art history class.

After seeing these fabulous paintings, I'm going to throw away all my watercolor paint and use my Kolinsky sable brushes to clean my toilet.

What an exhibition of spirited and lively watercolors! It is an honor to have my work represented in this exchange between American and Scottish watercolorists, on view at the Royal Scottish Academy Jan. 6- February 10. Hats off to all the watercolorists whose work was selected for this landmark exhibit, and thank you to Derek Robertson, and Ken Goldman for your vision, to Carol Latanision juror and awards judge, NWS President Lorraine Watry, Angus McEwan Pres. of the Royal Society of Watercolors, and all those who had a hand in this creative and inspiring presentation of watercolor works.

Well-balanced exhibition showing such a variety of watercolors. My favorites would include Shanthi Kumar's doily with cherries which shows a sensitive juxtaposition of pattern and texture with the doily, the cherries, and the crystal reflections while Kim Grandhaug's abstract displayed a masterfully executed ac rylic attack on blue and yellow. Also, the "Bats" arrangement is such an unusual subject and so well executed. White background yet. Every painting had its own intrinsic skill set.

This was one of the best presentations of NWS open exhibition! Amazing paintings from so many gifted artists! I had to slow the speed down and pause in between to thoroughly enjoy the presentation. So many stunning images from artists that I admire, so many surprises ! Inspires to be get back on the art projects that I have been planning. Thank you so much for the presentation. 🙏👋👋👋

I was thrilled to see this posted when I woke up this morning! There are so many amazing artists working in my favorite medium. I love to see how everyone is advancing the medium into new areas. Please consider remixing this video. Due to the fading transitions, each piece is only viewable for a brief second before it gets distorted by the fade in transition. I am watching it at .25X speed to try to see the original image clearly. Thank you for putting this together! 👨‍🎨🎨🙏

the slideshow was very well put together. Especially liked the slide where Stephaen Zhang commented on his criteria.

The painting at 6:22 looks like it was painted by a bootlicker of corrupt politicians in a third world shithole.

Binge watching these wonderful watercolor shows. This one moved a little fast so I slowed it down to half speed. It is worth lingering over them.
