Baby Megalodon doo doo doo - LOCKED IN TIME with Dean & Bob
Ask any fossil fan to name you an extinct apex predator, and “Megalodon” will be near the top of the list. In this chat, Bob and I talk about his favourite illustration in our book, Locked in Time, and he explains how he found it difficult to illustrate Megalodon in a new light. After all, Megalodon wasn’t just a deadly predator. I’m sharing this little video to coincide with the launch of the ...

Fighting Mammoths Together Forever - LOCKED IN TIME with Dean & Bob
A mammoth penis you say? What is my favourite fossil in Locked in Time? That was a hard question to answer - thanks, Bob! But, I had to go for one of the most spectacular fossils EVER found, two fighting mammoths. Yes, a pair of bull mammoths locked together forever! Opening the Yorkshire Natural History Museum with a dinosaur claw
On Saturday 13 August 2022, I had the great honour of opening the Yorkshire Natural History Museum in style... with a Baryonyx claw. 🦖 As a Yorkshire palaeontologist originally from just up the road in Doncaster - or, I should say, Donny - I'd like to say a huge congratulations to James Hogg and his team for making this happen. If you're in Yorkshire, make sure you visit the Yorkshire Natural H...

In this short video, I give you a little tour of the world famous Etches Collection Museum (The Museum of Jurassic Marine Life) situated in the village of Kimmeridge, Dorset, on the Jurassic Coast. The museum opened in 2016 and showcases a truly world class fossil collection, amassed over a phenomenal 60 years by my good friend and palaeontologist, Dr Steve Etches MBE. All of the Upper Jurassic...
Fossil Hunting in the Footsteps of Mary Anning
Mary Anning has been a hero of mine for as long as I can remember. From the books I read or museums I visited as a child, I was captivated by the story of a young, brilliant and ‘uneducated’ woman who had made remarkable fossil discoveries - discoveries that would change the world. Mary’s story further inspired me to follow my dreams of becoming a palaeontologist. For the past five or so years ...
The Ammonite Graveyard

I finally got the chance to walk along the world famous ‘Ammonite Pavement’ at Lyme Regis, Dorset. This almost 200 million-year-old Early Jurassic rock exposure contains countless fossils, primarily ammonites, preserved in a mass death assemblage. Some of the ammonites are very large, being almost a metre in diameter. The ancient seabed is part of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, protect...

A blue whale is at an average of 50-56 ft, not 108. It even says it when you search it up, and the blue whale is the largest creature to have ever existed 🐋🔷
