0:56 Nathan Filion? Castle and soon to be Green Lantern?😮
Those lego sets are worth alot now probably
Man...the days before 9/11 were very chill, after that everything went to hell.
It’s amazing to see people go to such insane lengths for The Phantom Menace. Nowadays I feel like I’m in the minority for thinking it’s good.
Should have went to the Transformers aisle. lol
All worthless 😂
0:53 ITS PAM AND JIM!
Im so hawktuahpilled this thumbnail is terrible
Lol none of them are worth anything today!
No more store rush. Now days most fun eaither has been ban or ots all pnline boring.Life is getting boring and controlled by protestors having everything ban or allfun has went or business.Only thing I see us none stop fighting overwho rights are goid and what toys stuff need be ban whos gay and zo on.only thing i see nowadays. 😅
If only we knew the movies were gonna suck 😭👎👎👎
This was the time when real collectors collected and no resellers
90s Star Wars fans were calm and polite, unlike those maniacs during the Cabbage Patch Kids craze!
The year I was born
All that excitement then they saw the movie. Tru is still alive in Canada but it's total garbage.
Are we sure this is 1999? The video and how people dressed is more like 1990. "We're all gonna be rich " said every single person that bought every toy available.
What's hilarious about this is I actually worked at a Toys r Us when I was in college when these movies came out. Little secret, when everything came off the truck the employees went through it first., picked the best stuff and paid for it. It doesn't mean they took the entire supply, but they had first choice before it was even offered to consumers. Lesson is if you want the best stuff work at the place and when it comes off the truck pay for it before it hits the shelf. I have four of the original Darth maul action figures and the accessory sets for him just sitting in a box upstairs in storage.
yall paid for it? we just hid them in the boxes for trash and took them to the dumpster where we would pick them up after the shift
I'll let you in on a secret...there worth less that what you paid for them. lol
@georgepmr not in the original packaging buddy, lol
I’m glad I know the joy of going to the toy store to buy the new popular item. What do the Gen Z alpha kids have? Hitting download/purchase off the App Store on their iPads? LMFAO 🤡🫵😂
Buying toys before watching the movie is dumb. I bet they felt real stupid obsessing over getting the toys first once they watched the movie.
Wow I was 13 when this came out, as a 38 year old man hell of a lot of good memories
Stupid people
Englishman's first thought: I can't believe you folks can wear just T-Shirts at midnight! 🇬🇧🤖🇺🇲
To bad they’re not worth anything
I knew when I saw this movie advertised on the side of my McDonald’s milkshake cup (aka actual garbage), that a money grab was at play.
.....and then we saw the movie and it was Jar Jar Binks smelling farts. Pee Yousa.
You thought that was bad? Have you seen the sequel trilogy? I mean, Force Awakens had lesser problems, but still.
@@genreproductions2706 I don't aknowledge the existence of Disney Star Wars.
3:07 Golden Boy is killing it!
Most of these toys can still be purchased at the same price or less in the box.
Rumor has it that the Jar Jar Binks toys are still on the shelf.
A couple of years ago, i went to an estate sale and in one room someone had all the Episode 1 action figures in the box all on the walls. The next day i went back to see if they were there still, they were all gone.😂😂
Its a cold world lol
the 90's was the last age of implicit whiteness
Won't matter when the fans come in and tear it all apart. Just dump the figures in the kiddie pools and fans will go diving for Darth Maul. I did when I was there. 😂🤣
14 years later from when this video was upload and Star Wars is now on life support...only Disney could pull something like that off!
Cry harder ffs. Endless man-baby whining...
these are some very wise investments yessir
Ah those were the best days for toys r us. Shame that those days are gone because of Amazon.
These are just normies though. The actual collectors were cherry picking looking for low print toys or anything rare like recalls or defects. Most of these toys are just about worthless other than sentimental value I suppose.
And no one touched the Jar Jar Binks figures.
I am glad I hate star wars Period. I am transformers,
I think people just forgot just how bad Star Wars mania was in the late 90s and early 2000s. There is a reason some many kids of that time are hardcore SW fans now.
I did the midnight toy release of Force Awakens for the experience, I grabbed one of like 3 Kylo Ren figures on the shelf and a guy wanted to trade a Rey for him. He was disappointed that I had to turn him down :_(
aw man ): sadly taht the tradition didn't conitnues and all you buy is from online shops
1:11 I thought that guy was Vince Vaughn 😂
Back then all you collectors would have been labeled as NERDS….my, look how far we’ve come.
This event right here was probably how Toys R Us steyed in business for another twenty years. People just dont get excited like this anymore.
I'd been all sith on everyone only me walking out that place
3:04 she has a Bionicle!
I remember going to force Friday when the force awakens came out, even tho that was a horrible movie the hype was big and target went all out. Wish I was older so I had a cooler experience with the prequels coming out
All these years later, I’m now trying to buy some of the cheaper episode 1 action figures. They were surprisingly more detailed than a lot of new figures
I saw a guy this week buying a bunch of episode 1 figures at an indoor flea market. I think there is about to be a surge in interest and prices for these figures.
I remember the day I seen Phantom Menace with my da, he brought me into Smyth’s toys in Dublin as soon as the movie was over because I was absolutely electric and kept saying Star Wars was my favourite thing ever (still is) and bought me the 3 figures with the chips: Darth Maul, Anakin and Jar Jar 😂 I eventually got the reader and more figures Remains the best time of my entire life to this day Now I’m nearly 30 and get very nostalgic when I pass by there solely based on episode 1 and that day
grown adults buying toy dolls....
@2:30 she’s lying I was there for the release and I was punching and swinging and pushing well. I was only six years old, but I went all in.
