C-130 Low Level Flying
Просмотров 97 тыс.12 лет назад
A video of me flying a C-130H from the 36th Airlift Squadron, Yokota AB Japan while conducting training operations during Red Flag Alaska 13-1. Hope you enjoy! Follow me on Twitter @130pilot In the future, I will be posting pictures of the C-130 from my travels around the world
I spent a year there 1975
I was also stationed here, 1969-70 and enjoyed my time there, such an amazing place to see. It is almost like if someone asked, "Say, where did you go while in the service?". "Oh, I was stationed on the Moon." Going to Thule is something akin to that, so different from everything else I had ever seen. Now all these years later, I could still show you how to get to the BX from my barracks! Some memories never fade.
Yankee GO HOME
Nope.

It’s alright 👍..... LOAD CLEAR. 39th TAS KPOB
Awesome thanks
tailwind? No problem.
I was there from Dec 1970 until Dec 1971. What a great assignment. The most interesting place I have ever been. I was on P mountain when the wind hit 167 and blew the wind gauge off. Thanks for sharing this.
I spent a good portion of 1986 at Thule. I have to say it was one of the most interesting experiences of my life. Wouldn't mind going back someday.
Me too, in a heart beat!
Done that a few times early 80s.
My 2nd home. 😁
Was at Thule in June-July 1955. Thrilling to see the sun hit a minimum on the horizon and begin climbing again. C-130s stationed near my hometown , Schenectady N Y , presently provide air transport to American Military Bases in Greenland.
Felt like I was there!
Thank You for sharing this! many people would never see how beautiful and vast this place is!
I was a USAF C-130 crew member on the "B" and "E" models in the 70's and 80's ... thanks for bringing back some great memories!
It’s alright....It’s alright 👍✈️
How about I get on a USCG C-130 out of Gon? Any ideas? I am USARMY RET.
Where can I get on a Mac flight for Thule? CW4 Tommy Schmitt. t.l.schmitt@icloud.com
Fucking Bullshit Music..... WTF is wrong with you
I was stationed there in 1967-68. Unlike many, I loved my year there. Will never forget the day the B-52 crashed 7 miles from base on Jan. 21, 1968. I volunteered for two days building pre-fab huts on the ice for the SAC guys who were coming in to investigate the crash. Interesting times.
I was one of 4 mechanics that my base sent there to be drivers in february...still got my orders and pics of the base....the first couple of days were dark and cold....the huts out on the ice were a welcome coffee break. One saturday, we got taken on a field trip out to the abandoned NIKE site...the sun had come up by then...
@@mikedee8876 & Jon Ham Thank you both for your service! I'd do anything to get at least 1 month over there!
My brother was stationed there around that year. He told me about how awesome the Phantoms sounded taking off.
I was there 1968-69, arrived day after Thanksgiving 1968. Like you I loved my time there. It was an unforgettable experience. I was only there 6 months due to an error by the Air Force. I was Radio Relay and that had been taken over by RCA on a civilian contract. So I worked in Ground Radio while I was there.
thule society

I served a year up there! 2014-2015! Wowsers! Incredible assignment none the less! 😊 'Top of the World' baby!
I just got assigned there where do they send you afterwards

20 SECS!!!! From Take Off to Lift Off?! 6:39 to 6:59!!!! 20 SECS!!! That's incredible!!! Old Faithful! (C-130) Tried and True, hunh?! The Sled/Bull Dog of the AF!!!!
Cold temperatures => high air density => high aerodynamic lift => short takeoff distance. But also, higher drag, for the same reason.
Truly beautiful lighting!!!
Definitely Enjoyed. I Love Flying, and This is Awesome. I Jumped out of H model C-130's
Where in the Aleutian Chain was that taken? Looks like Abraham Valley, Attu Island?
Amazing country...cool flyin!
nice
God, this way great.
nice video...I like it.
gay song
This is a beautiful video, thank you for sharing
F-22's, F-35's, and all this talk about stealth tech I find amusing. A C-130 may never be stealthy but they have always been VERY SNEAKY. Invisible to radar? F*** that, let's just fly under and around the radar.
Great flying!
When I was a kid several times a week flights of 4 to 6 C-130s would fly right over our barn, probably using it as a navigation point as they would change their heading right after that. The cool part of this was they were only about 100 feet high, as they were doing under the radar training with the radar base about 10 miles from our house. You could hear them coming but not see them, then they would climb up over the woods to one side of our fields then drop back down when over the fields. Then do the same with the woods on the next mile. A friend who's place they also flew over said that if he was on the top of their silo he could see the tops of the plane. Then in the late '70s a couple of them crashed and then after that they had to stay above 500 feet. Then not too much later they closed the radar base and they stopped flying in the area.
They have been doing the same with our house for 15 years.
C-130 Hercooles !
great video! what an amazing country side!
Brings back many memories, however I would much rather listen to the Allison's than the crappy background music.
Not as much as I wish I did.
Nice! Do you get to do this a lot?
Well done Metros!
