Born and raised into farming. Learned most arable operations over the years, I went to America harvesting in 1998 and somehow ended up driving trucks when I returned to the UK. Always maintained an interest in farming and still manages to stay involved. The technology now is incredible, I enjoy learning how to use it and I would dearly love to return to farming full-time.
Case IH 200 CVX and KV Vari Width (View from the cab)
Window open so you can hear just how abrasive the soil is here in Mid-Dorset. This field began as easy chalk loam and finishes with the flint infused clay cap you see here.

I’m driving my cousins combine, not driven a JD combine for over ten years, so this was a real treat for someone like me who has operated a variety of combines over the years and just loves them!

Massey 1200 ploughing

A friend having a go at a local ploughing match, not really there to compete, more for the enjoyment and letting an old classic work a little.
Why so deep. Tractor should pull that with ease. Sounds like poor oul girl getting it tight.
Great Video, love seeing the 1200 on the plough. Massey Dave is putting together a register of all 1200's left, you should send him your serial number and location.👍
Get the serial number and tractor location sent to Massey Dave so it can go in the register!
🎸
poor old girl is loaded to the max
It certainly cannot handle any more plow than shown, but it is digging deep
5 bottoms with a 4 X 4 ?
The Perkins 6.354 Engine is between 100 and 125 horsepower without turbo, there isn't enough power for more bottoms, especially when plowing so deep
That polly perking as a full pipe of smoke 😊.
Sounds turbocharged. They didn’t sell those here in the US. Just the 1500/1800 series.
Built in the UK for UK/Euro market, never sold in large numbers but has its niche.
🎉🎉🎉
Pretty sure we didn’t have the 1200/1250 here in the states. We had the 1500/1800 series, wish they would have come with an in-line six. The Cat V8’s didn’t do very well.
No the 1200 1250 was built for the British Market they were made in Manchester nort of England about 110hp very popular with the larger farmers
TRYING TO PLOUGH IT TO DEEP
No, not especially. Those Perkins engine were never known for superior torque. But pulling even a 5 X 14" (can´t see if it is a 14 or 16" version) in clayish soil requires all the power that little thing has and then some. So under the circumstances it is doing alright.
I’m not the operator and it needed to be ploughed deep for vegetable crops.
I've got to admit I don't think i have every seen one of these 1200's in the flesh, they always looked very sexy (if a tractor can be sexy) that 1200 looks like it's struggling with a five furrow plough, thanks for sharing
It's sad that they were discontinued. You would think the indian TAFE would have built some.
Magnifique.
GreR Video, fantastic tractor brilliant ploughing
Got after market turbo fitted.
Looks like it was struggling a wee bit - was the ground compacted ?
Yes, the ground was a little hard and plough was a bit deep.
@@thatguyfromdorset thank you for your reply 🙂
