Welcome! Join me as I tinker in the shop, sometimes I even succeed in fixing broken stuff! The videos on this channel are broadly automotive related with a focus on Volvos, but there's plenty of other stuff that catches my eye too. Thanks for watching!
Why you should LS Swap your Volvo 240!
This video goes over my nearly 20-year ownership history of my 1979 Volvo 244. It started as a 2.1 non turbo car, then got a 2.3 fuel injected turbo motor, and now has a Chevy 5.3 backed by a Tremec T56.
Join me as I take you though the history of car and we talk about the swap.

Amazing! Wish the LS engines was more accseible and cheaper here in sweden and i would have done this swap

I have been bringing a 1990 240 back to life since oct of 23. I have been trying to keep it with the og b230 but this is a great sale for just LS swaping. Its an auto and I managed to find an AW71 for it. Do you have any advice for +t or just camming it to get more power? I keep getting the "just search the forums" where I find 20 ways to do it, but they seem to conflict on the build. Any help is appreciated!!
@@gruntsknowhowtoparty cam on an auto, NA b230 is a waste of time. I’d personally do an aftermarket ems with a +T instead of screwing with LH at this point, but that’s just me.
Looking at all these videos from all over the world of people who love Volvo 240 is amazing. Greetings from Sweden.
Greetings from coastal NC. Great car with great history! I have a clean 91 240 I`ll keep stock. A few months ago picked up a rusty 82 240, $175 for parts, but decided to LS swap it, and restore the body. A serious chore by myself. Got the LS engine with 4l60 installed. STS parts. Sprang for the Aces jackpot harness/ECU, not installed yet. Plan to go w modified stock 2 piece DS and rear end for now. Same issue as you w the steering shaft, but did a slight mod that helped. Thanks for tip on PS! More chores to check off on this project. All it takes is TIME, patience and money! BTW, I`ll try to remember to put some straps under the DS, which I read is a good idea? 😉

Look I’m the 145Th comment please pin me
12mpg. It was sad just watching the fuel gauge drop as i drove from one end of the city to the next
Great story and great video. I absolutely love your car. My goal is to own an LS swapped 240.
Intro was badass. What’s the offset on the rear wheels?
@@fallguy1212 17x10 et20. It took a LOT of cutting and hammering
Have you heard how long the gt500h is gonna stay on the rental lot? Im 23 at the moment and hoping to take my gf in it.
I'm 24, i got a 244 84, i have the ls 4.8, Holley carb and the only thing i need is transmission. but because I want stick and ls I'm thinking to put nv3000 just because all are expensive.
First 10 sec of video was enough to convince me
Woooah? Ill try if it fixes the ticking for me too. Altough it only ticks on my Bike when hot?!
I paid $60 in PHX. They are all beaten up now.
I purchased a Volvo 240 with a 350/400Trans swap in it with HEI ignition. Can I be in the Cool Club with the LS Crowd?
Love it! had to watch it in 3 parts 😆
Love the “BS” center caps! 😂
Lol ! Love the car ! I built a 240 wagon myself in the early 80s and loved it. I'm going to subscribe and keep an eye on it ! Have fun and be safe ! 😊
great opening shot, love the car
Awesome story, awesome video. Stoked to see it ripping after all these years. I knew you would put the drivetrain to good use!
Sorry I spaced on your name dude!!
Really cool to see that PeterPalooza sticker on the quarter window! I love this car.
I'd much prefer a T5 or such to keep it within in the Volvo family, am sure LS swaps are great fun for those who drive them but its been so done to death at this point I'll just stray past the sight of one.
Took longer than expected for this type of comment to show up lol
Why does americans think that the only motor is an LS? You`ve ruined a great car, and I would still drive circles around you with an original Volvo. You make it too heavy, and your lazy V8s are really not that impressive. ruclips.net/video/GUIGib6lQtM/видео.html
I'm like you I gotta make things work and run.
I love the history on this car more than anything. Easily one of my favorite 240s! Thanks for going through the deets!
just fount this by chanse, really nice story also approve because i´m a Swede and these are solid classics. Cant´t go wrong with the LS swap too ^^
The 240 series Volvos are wonderful machines, I never thought they'd have the space for a V8, but wow. Awesome! Very cool indeed. It's a whole new vehicle. Maybe Volvo should have made some 240 series with a V8 even if they had to buy it from GM. I feel the 140 series should have maxed out with a straight 6. Volvos were always just slightly underpowered.
+1 Can confirm LS swapped 240s are the way to go. I've had my turbo 242 20+ years and it's a blaaast now that it has a 408/s488/8.8
Love your story. Love these old cars. Subscribed.
You gave me more credit than I am due as far as purchasing the BMW 2002 and the 244! Your mother purchased the 2002, and your uncle negotiated an even swap with the mechanic, trading the BMW for the Volvo 244. BTW, the 2002 was blue at first. It later got the first class Earl Sheib candy red treatment! I was very pleased. The 244 ran like a sewing machine for several years. If I recall, a 16 year old pressurewashing the engine bay started the slow cranking issues....we kept carb cleaner or startng fluid on hand always!
Mom buying the 2002 makes more sense, and her brother? getting her out of a bad deal. 16 yr old ruining an engine to make minimum wage, ah yes I can see it now.
Can confirm, LS swapping a 240 makes it a lot more fun. I wish mine sounded as good as yours.
Can confirm removing what makes a volvo a volvo does not make it feel like a volvo anymore. Would recommend if you don't like driving a volvo.
❤
Very cool channel of saving old Swedish steel
I like classics,ratrods,coes,coas, motorcycles,motohomes, minibikes,gokarts,trucks,pickups, station wagons,vans,vws,vwbusses, skhoolies,
Awesome video hopefully you will enjoy that car for years to come!
I think this Volvo will even make 7000 miles!
Fix your steering wheel with bondo, easy peasy
Might try that!
I've driven my modified b20 high compression 122 about 200km from home and the alternator bracket snapped. Can't quite get the nicely made bracket to survive. Unfortunately. I did fix it and drive home. 4500rpm of twin Weber's and extractors for two hours isn't fun.
Working on my first LS swap, into a 1982 Volvo 240. Greetings from coastal NC. Special thanks to Scott at STS Machining.
Enjoyed the nice video but you drive too fast for me.
The speedometer reads 30-40mph fast
"Promo SM"
On my Amazon the fuel pickup tube was rusty to the point it was out of gas with like 15liters left in the tank and the windshield need a bunch of windowsealer to have a fighting chance to not leak water. Its easy taking it out and putting it in yourself and the new fuel pump sounds like that because its sucking air
He certainly isn't afraid to pump the juice to that vulva.
It's a vulva, those things can take a real beating.
Looks like I sold it to the right man.. That's exactly what I would have done to it. Thanks, I enjoy the videos. Terry PS I think I found another set of keys for it.
Hey Terry! Appreciate you checking in on it. I’ll get together with you on the keys before long.
Well done. I really enjoyed the video. Nice to see all your hard work is rolling down the road.
Not sn American car / no problem whatsoever
