How to make textured and dimensionally consistent game pieces using air dried clay.
Using only DAS clay and some odds and ends from the hardware store, this video shows you how to make square pieces for the board game Tak.

Other materials can be purchased from your local hardware store:
¼-20 threaded rod
¼-20 nuts
Fender washers for threaded rod - I used 1¼ inch, but would go with 1½ or 1¾ inch if I did this again
Paint (optional or unnecessary if you get different colors of clay)

Thank you for going through the steps! For some odd reason I always think air-dry materials are quite an investment, since you're almost bound to botch the first batch no matter what: learning from someone else's take is quite important.

You're welcome! You should be able to start over again if you are not happy with your pieces, as long as you stopped before the painting and sealing stages. Videos like this will show you how: ruclips.net/video/emVJDOnNBbk/видео.htmlsi=KlLmXhUsebv33GgL

Really like the simple yet elegant capstone Bill! Also enjoyed the video information, I use a miter box for my flats and the info about tearing was quite useful, so thanks!

I'm glad you liked it! Yeah, tear out is very common and some hobbyists just ignore it and fix it in post processing. I wanted to show some ways to avoid it in the first place. Especially when working with the small pieces we do, a little chip taken out can turn into a big eyesore.

Maybe I'll bring my gen 1 to boardgame meetups and see if anyone would play.

Cool stuff bill! Love your capstones, as usual, but I also really like how you think about storage and other practicalities of your sets. Keep up the good work!
