Hi, Well thanks hey ! 😁👍 Hmmm... well it could perhaps be the cable in your power adapter that's actually the culprit. If you twist the DC cable side too much you might stretch out that thin wire that is in the center of it (& thus cause it to break). The only sure way to eliminate that the issue is not on the adapter side would be to open the latter up, desolder the cable & then use the digital multimeter ("Diode Mode") to check if the center pin wire hasn't been severed in any way. 🤔🙄 While if the problem is on that Power Port PCB then you might check if the actual DC socket is loose. Also if those center brass curved pieces are properly "hugging" the center pin (the DC plug). Because if like those became loose then you might have to think about changing the socket alltogether. You might even try disassembling the socket to correct the issue manually (if this is the case). That is if you have the nerves, good sight & steady hands to go about it. 😶😑 Then (still on the Power Port side) checking that diode & capacitors might be a good idea. While on the actual motherboard follow those diodes, transistors & check them (Diode Mode again). 😌 Hope it helps. 😕 Best Regards,

Hi, I sold the unit pretty much the next day when this video was recorded so sadly I can't help you out. 🙄😶😕 Did you clean the heating chamber, check the tubing & clear the holes on the hotplate itself (the surface beneath) ? You could like try using a toothpick to unclog the openings... If they are like filled with calc in the first place. 🤔😊 Best Regards,

Hi, Yes it is plausible that maybe one of the diodes on that small power board has gone bad. You can get the entire board on eBay or AliExpress though. 🤔🙄 But did you also in the first place check your power AC adapter ? @@davidbolha Yes the power supply is fine, it works happily in another old Dell laptop. Oddly when I power up the motherboard and plug the battery in I got 12.6V at both the battery + contacts but still no PSID voltage at the power socket. After a short while the battery voltage started dropping but if I press the power board to motherboard connection it returns to 12.6V but still no PSID signal at the socket.

@@simonsmith874 Maybe the input power socket plug (the contacts inside) have no connection with the center pin of the plug (coming from the AC adapter). That's also a possibility. 🤔😕

Hi, Ufff... I have no idea honestly. Could be the valve (electromagnet) not working correctly. And this perhaps is being caused by the calc buildup in the heating chamber itself. Thus the sensors not sending the correct information back to the main board. I don't know. 😕🤔 Did you disconnect all the hoses & cleaned them up ? Best Regards, David

@davidbolha the solenoid on our machine was removable, however we were unable to source a new part. We gave it a few smacks, refitted it, and so far, the iron is working fine 🙂

I kind of laughed when I see everyone struggle with opening it. You just slip a credit card (wide side) under each panel and press in until it stops. At that point you are not pressing on the cards, you press on the outer shell, you want to slide it forward. With the tabs released from the credit cards it should slide forward with little problem.

Hi, What a long essay ! 😲😨😳😁👌👍👏 Ok... I first noticed the problem in Win XP Professional 32-bit SP3 (which was like my main computer at that time). Only then I went to Vista. At that time I wasn't experimenting with windows 7 just yet. No I didn't smell anything but electronics can even fail without any obvious signs of faultiness (visual or nostral indication). 🙄 I mentioned in another standalone post here that I was able to solve the issue by baking the PCB in an oven for 10-15 min at roughly 220°C. 😊

Hi, Good thing you mentioned the exact specifics of these batteries (as I never heard of them) so I could go online snooping around. They look promising - judging by the abrupt general information I found about them. 🙄😏 The inverter does have to be a 48 V one for starters. Unless you can somehow (& safely of course) decouple each battery array to more manageable blocks of either 12/24 V batteries. If it's possible then you could buy just a normal 12/24 V power inverter. I think 12 V types go up for a maximum of 4 kW, while 24 V ones can reach even higher wattages. 🤔 Regarding solar panels themselves it's sort of a similar story. You can buy right of the bat 48 V rated ones (which will be more watts per size) or lots of smaller 12/24 V ones. Then combine them in parallel (& serial) to get the most optimum configuration given the amount that you will purchase. It all depends on your budget ultimately. 😕😏 In terms of restoration dilemmas it's hard to say (as I don't know their state of preservation). You could try fiddling with the Bedini principle, the so-called "Imhotep's Radiant Oscillator" (look it up here on YT) & my favorite Ossie Callanan's circuit to see what your success rate would be. But even a better option would be (as suggested a paragraph behind) to tear down the 48 V battery pack & personally inspect which 12 V individual batteries are still ok & which not. Then re-create/re-assemble a new 48 V battery pack from the 2 48 V battery packs you'll be purchasing. The worn out batteries you can then try to restore with the previously mentioned approaches. 🤔😶 That's how I'd tackle the issue if I was in your position but you can also try asking on Solar Panel Talk Forums too. I've seen somebody asking about these exact batteries in 2020 there. Oh great ! Please do. I have also posted 2 videos on TikTok in regards to VRLA/SLA batteries awhile back. 😇😉 Best Regards,

@@davidbolha Thank you for responding, David! I will have to turn the 2 volt cells around because they are not in a +/- position in the strings to charge 6v, 12v, 24v or 48volt. The system originally had plates connecting the cell. I will end up making cables in order to accomplish the charging. If they are able to carry 80% capacity for a few years that will get us up and operating for power to our off grid RV hook up. I'll be happy enough with that. I was worried that the only charging I can accomplish is from a generator + inverter to go to full charge. If so - that is what we will do to see what capacity they still have available.

If the voltage goes below 10 V, then you have bad batteries & no wonder the UPS doesn't start. 😶
