Plyometric Training for Speed: Step-by-Step Guide to Get Faster!
Просмотров 34414 дней назад
Many athletes know that plyometrics improve your sprint speed, but few know how to correctly use them. In this video I will give you the full guide to using plyometrics for speed. This will cover the plyometric exercises, how to implement them, and how to progress them over time. Of course, there are many ways to go about this as there isn't only one correct method. Really needed this, thank you so much! Make a one on lifting as well!
Happy to help out man! And good idea, I will do that!
Have you tried Micro dose speed endurance after top speed. 4 reps x 10 meters fly after Long rest speed endurance like 1 or 2 70 or 80 meters. Would you do this if you have the time for it ?
I haven't personally! But I can see the benefit in it. I have played around with microdosing a speed endurance run or two at the end of an acceleration workout though. In the way I program, I probably wouldn't microdose speed endurance after top speed. Mainly because when top speed is still in the program, I like to focus on it and don't like introducing speed endurance yet. When I introduce speed endurance, I like to make that the focus so if anything were to be microsdosed at this point, it'd be top speed.

How do you set up the wickets
First you need to run normally and then put the wickets a little away from you stride length and then when your comfortable with it lower the wickets length
If you have IG, hit us up there! I can send you the guides and charts. You want to be pretty exact with it
This man is mad underrated
Much appreciated🫡🫡
So what do I do? Just sets of 40 metres sprints?
Not quite! Separate the different sprint qualities into different sessions
Do you think the impact on the joints could potentially cause an injury or strain
I mean technically yes. But you could say that about everything that’s worth doing in training: sprinting, plyos, weightlifting, etc
Sprinter’s Guide for Speed Endurance‼️ Here is a more in-depth breakdown of the progressions in the video: ➡️Extensive Tempo: 60-70% of your max speed when used on recovery days. 70-80% when used as a speed endurance progression. 45s-3min rest. ➡️Intensive Tempo: 80-90% speed, up to 300m runs. 4-6min of rest between reps. ➡️Special Endurance: 90-95% speed, 150-300m runs. Full recoveries: ~8-15mins. ➡️Speed Endurance: 95%-100% speed, 70-150m sprints. Full recoveries. At the start of the training year when you're using extensive tempo as your speed endurance "base", you could do this for ~4 weeks, starting at 70% speed, then increasing your speed each week until you get to 80% speed. After that, move into the next part of the speed endurance progression which would then be intensive tempo. Follow the same progression path into special endurance then speed endurance📈 ‼️You don’t want to just grind regular speed endurance all year long. You need to progress into it by first ensuring your fitness and speed levels are in place. The tempo variations and special endurance will take care of the fitness side, while your acceleration and top speed work take care of the speed side of the progression. Eventually these two paths meet in the middle and get you to speed endurance🤝🏼
Really appreciated for the full guide 🙏👍
@@Lienlovelyboyglad you got some value!🙏🏼
TRAINING SCHEDULE FOR SPRINTERS🔥 Here’s a full breakdown⬇️ ➡️Monday - Acceleration This includes 10-40m sprints (resisted or unresisted), followed by horizontal plyometrics such as broad jumps and bounding. After the track work, go to the weight room. Today’s focus is typically on max strength💪🏼 ➡️Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday The goal of these days is to do training that isn’t overly specific, but plays a supportive role to the main training days. The qualities we’re looking to improve on these days includes aerobic fitness, general strength, mobility, etc. Things like extensive tempo, circuit training, hurdle mobility, and bike workouts are all great on this day🔥 ➡️Wednesday - Top Speed Today consists of sprints longer than 40m and can include fly sprints, sprint-float-sprints (in & outs), wicket sprints, etc. Do vertical plyometrics or longer/faster bounding on this day: hurdle hops, pogos, speed bounds, extended bounds, depth/drop jumps…🚀 The focus in the gym for this day is typically more power-focused (moving weights at faster speeds). ➡️Friday - Speed Endurance While this day is dedicated to speed endurance, you don’t do “true speed endurance” work year round. You progress into it by first developing your fitness and speed levels for the year: ▪️Extensive Tempo (Fitness) ▪️Intensive Tempo (Fitness) ▪️Special Endurance (Fitness) ▪️Acceleration Training (Speed) ▪️Top Speed Training (Speed)
Use THESE Plyometrics to get FAST🔥 For Acceleration, these are the main plyometrics we use to improve sprint speed: ➡️Broad Jumps ➡️Triple Broad Jumps ➡️Standing Triple Jump ➡️Short Bounding - Single Leg ➡️Short Bounding - Alternating ➡️Short Bounding - Left-Left-Right-Right… ➡️Acceleration Bounds Top Speed: ➡️Vertically-Oriented Remedial Bounding ➡️Mini Hurdle Hops - Single Leg, Double Leg, Lateral, Forwards ➡️Regular Hurdle hops - Forwards, Lateral, Statics ➡️Extended Bounds (same variations from acceleration but over longer distances) ➡️Speed Bounds (extended bounds but emphasizing short ground contact times) ➡️Drop/Depth Jumps - Vertical, Horizontal, Hurdles, Laterals Notice how there are so many variations. Variety in training is key if you want to make long term gains🔑 ‼️For acceleration, choose longer ground contact time plyometrics with a horizontal bias, that are more “explosive/powerful/aggressive”. For top speed, choose really short ground contact time plyometrics with a vertical bias that are slightly “bouncier”. Make sure to save this plyometric guide if you want to get fast🚀
What do you consider doing this workout for a long period of time?
What do you mean by that?
You said you can get really fast if you do this workout for a long period of time…I’m wondering what you consider a long period of time?
Thanks 😂

Would this change for an athlete who focuses on the 200-400 more than 100-200 during track season?
Cool
Thank you🫡🫡
Creator, if u see this can u tell us about the set
What do you mean?
What is SFS ?
Sprint - Float - Sprint!
No top speed or is it combined with that speed endurance ? And what about the volume for weights ?
how to maintain strength ?
Ballistic lifting can do that. And less frequent heavy lifting
Can I periodize from max strength to strength-speed to speed-strength to speed for my 100m races ?
While doing consistent acceleration, top speed and speed endurance work ?
@@Anonymous-jy3ekyes! That’s going from least to most specific which is what you want
Is it okay to include those max strength calf raises in conjunction with my max squats ?
Yep! Heavy calf raises can improve tendinitis stiffness

Does power training bridge the gap between strength and speed ? I hope you do a video on that
Somewhat yes!

How serious are you about getting faster?
How much sets do you guys do for those heavy pull ups ?
Should I train my upper body for max strength or simple hypertrophy for sprinting ?
Strength
@@meta_athletics Thanks for the reply so can I combine it with my lower body strength lifts or will it be too much on the CNS ?
a typical session for us is: Warmup Sprints Plyos Olympic lift Lower body lift Upper body lift Cool down

Coach has us doing these all the time, they’re a pain but they work!
They’ve valuable as long as you’re not overdoing them and omitting actual sprinting!

What you think about Heavy sled pushes?
I think they are ok! I much prefer sled sprints tho
