Quick video introduction of this channel. I am an every day home owner who isn't afraid to tackle home projects and I'd like to take viewers along for the ride to show you that many things around the house can be done by you.
Very helpful! Thank you so much.
I tried to do my off season start on the snow blower and snap... I was going to call my mobile repair guy but this video showed me how easy it was to repair. Thanks !!!
Thanks for the video. However I didn't replace the handle but just buy a new 3/16" rope/cord for 28 cents at 7 cents/ft. And I just reuse the handle and follow your video instruction and it was a cinch. 28 cents is cheaper than buying a new $1200 snow blower.
Great video really helped. My first couple of try’s didn’t work. Thanks again
Thank you. You saved me money, time and soreness.❤ it
I learned what I needed, BUT the first 3 minutes were wasted video, and the whole video could have been 3 minutes long. Someone who wants to be cute and hear themselves talk
Spinner broke free and sliced my thumb open LOL
Hole size is impossibly small to thread. It was like an evil carnival game. Tried wire, paper clips, needle nose pliers and praying. I had enough of that fun, and finally just drilled out the hole from the outside in. Worked like a charm. Used a drill bit only slightly thicker than the string. The wheel on my Poulan Pro is plastic. I imagine this is pretty standard, so be careful, drill slowly and don't take too much material away.
Thank you we just fixed our snowblower with your help. Step by step with you and now its fixed.
Thanks you. You just made my day
Thnx , thats the info i needed 🖖.
Really helpful thanks 🙂
Getting that pull string through that initial hole was about 98% of the time it took me to get it done. In retrospect I shouldve made that hole bigger
Thanks….. would not have been successful without your video. Fishing line through was not trivial like I expected.
Thanks for you instructive video.
Thanks I just fixed my snowblower my husband will be happy that I can keep cleaning our driveway ❄️
Hi...I have this similar wired smoke alarm that came pre-installed in my home from over 25 years. It has been giving me false alarms and beeps randomly, sometimes incessantly, likely due to dust/humidity. The wiring I see in my unit is black, white and yellow..but my unit is almost identical the one you have in your video. The yellow wire is not connected to anything in the ceiling. I do not have other interconnected wired alarms in the home elsewhere. So I assume the yellow wire is the interconnect wire that has no function in my home?
I've found that tying thin, somewhat flexible wire around the end of the rope, you can thread it through the outside when you line up the holes. There is an almost 90 degree bend between those holes.
That's a great tip, I never thought of that.
Very helpful video. Thanks. About to go tackle a nor’easter.
I'm glad it helped and I hope you were able to dig out. I just did my driveway and that stuff was cement.
Great job ! Thanks for the video , I fixed my poulan pull start snow blower cord… 👍😃👍 from Barrie Ontario Canada
I'm glad this helped. I'm sure there is a lot more snow in Barrie than here in New England. Go Colts!
way better instructions vs some others who make you melt holes in the assembly. i did have to cut off the crimped/stapled part in my pull cord assembly. i came here after the service manual omitted this repair (has zero info on replacing a pull cord). thanks for this!!!! way bigger help vs the vids with all talk and poor video quality.
I'm glad the video helped you. Service manuals always focus on the mechanics of the operating parts and forget about things like this.
I successfully restrung the pull start cord on my snow blower today. Thanks for the great instructions!
I'm glad this was helpful for you.
thanks a lot. you are very Profesional in your area. i appreciate a lot all your teachings. God bless you my friend.
One complete revolution back?
Thanks for passing along exactly the info I needed to quickly replace the pull cord on my snowblower.
It's sad that these new recoils are not meant to be repaired but replaced at $35+ at a whack
It's sad that most things today can't be repaired. It's why I still have a mechanical dryer. I've repaired everything on that thing over the 20 years I've owned it. My washing machine is all electronic and when something goes, it's toast. Every appliance, device or thing we use has a lifetime of around two years.
Subscribed!!
Thank you! Ours just broke yesterday. It is fixed today because of your video!
Use a small engine fuel line puller to pull rope through the small hole.
It's been a cpl yrs and needed a refresher..thanks bro! 👍🏻👍🏻
Wicked smart!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼
Just fixed mine, thanks a million
Thanks for thw great advice. Your amazing
Thankyou sir
This was clutch!!! Just happened and I appreciate ur video....buffalo storm
Glad it helped. I know what it's like to be in a tough situation when something needs to be fixed. That's why I made this video.
Do you talk so slow it’s painful to watch your videos you were standing there for like four seconds just figuring out what to say I got shit to do
Hi, just wondering do you know how to replace the recoil spring on the starter same to the one in your video?
Unfortunately I am not sure. I am pretty sure that it is rather difficult though as I was unable to open it to see it. If I had to replace the spring, I would probably just order a whole new one.
Looked at a few of these videos....the mechanism you've got is identical to mine. To say getting that cord through that hole is a "bit of a challenge" is the understatement of the year. I'm going to go buy a new pull chain as the one you've got, as much as I can tell, looks very slightly smaller than the one I broke. I've been screwing with this for an hour and haven't come close to threading this through that hole - going backwards, as you've suggested. Going from the outside-in would be virtually impossible.
I have the same issue. Just can't get the rope thru the hole from either end. What I am going to do is drill a hole directly opposite the inner ring hole from the outside. Then I have a straight line to thread the rope.
You took too many wines only four wines and feed the rope through it just burn the ends of it and feed it through making a mountain out of a mole hill
Thanks for the 32 word sentence. Also, I don't recall having any wines while taking the video. Maybe a beer or two though.
Thanks I needed a refresher. Just pulled my cord out. Now it’s fixed. Thanks a lot.
Bali roller shade
Everyone makes videos on how fix the cord, but no videos on how to extract and fix the SPRING! None of the videos show how to open and fix and then close the spring housing which has no screw closure. All snowblower pull starts have NO SCREWS!
I have this exact pull start cover. I cannot get the string through it. This is the most idiotic design possible for this part. It's as if someone purposefully made this difficult to feed the string through. In addition, the cheap pot metal nut on the end of the crankshaft stripped while I was turning the engine, trying to get it to start. Now it cannot be tightened nor removed. I will NEVER buy power equipment with a Tecumseh engine again.
Just burn the end on it put a tip on the rope and feed it through
I really appreciated your video, help me a lot, thanks for your time to teach us.
Thanks sir! What size is the bolt? 10 mm? thanks
I think its ¼ inch bolt. It's been awhile since I've 5 horse Tecumseh engine recoil.
Thank you so much for the video super helpful I just replaced the pull cord Thank you again
Thank you for making this video. I was able to follow your instructions to fix broken pull cord on my snow blower. Regards.
Cheers. Glad it helped you.
Thank you! This is super helpful.
Glad it was helpful. These can be a pain especially when you're dealing with snow!
Did you use a grow light to keep them going over the winter? If so, which one?
No grow light at all. Just a south facing window.
Great vid. Helped me. But I don’t recommend burning the knot! It weakened mine and it slipped from the handle I was lucky it didn’t go all the way in the pullstart I was able to just re-tie it
