This is a recording of a recent live event at the Camerimage Film Festival in Poland: “Protect your Creative Intent with ACES”.

    This presentation was very helpful. But I was wondering, is there a recommended folder structure/file organization for an ACES workflow? Do the IDT and ODT files need to be located in a specific location for the AMF to reference?

    What are IDT and ODT applied to image ?

      The IDT (Input Device Transform) transforms from the camera Color Space into ACES in this case. The ODT (Output Device Transform) then transforms from ACES into the desired output color space.

    I am curious does this solve the problem of merging PS layers in Nuke which gives a subtle difference in output compared to Photoshop?

      There is a 'Video colorspace' checkbox in the Merge node in Nuke - especially for that kind of problem when layers were created in an application with sRGB color blending (such as Photoshop). Another solution - change the blending settings in Photoshop itself. For that turn on 'Blend RGB Colors Using Gamma:' in 'Color Settings’ ('Advanced Controls' field) and set the gamma to 1.0 - now blending in Photoshop will work the exact same way as Nuke Merge node does (guided by a linear gamma). But be aware that feature is a global setting (not document related) and all PSDs which created with sRGB color blending will not represent layers correctly anymore until you return color settings back to sRGB color blending.

    That's one of the reasons I switched as well. Basically ODT from REC709 to REC2020. Another huge advantage for me is proper DCP delivery without converting from a REC709 image.

    Is there any chance to get a similar sRGB ODT? This is really a very natural looking remapping of all those out of range and gamut colors. I was always wondering how to get that - I desaturated highlights and high-saturation colors but that doesn't come close. This looks super! So instead of me applying at animal logic just to steal their ODT ;) it would be awesome if you could share something similar!

    Hello, thanks for the vid! I'm still wondering where to apply a certain LMT within maya - let's say an exported 3D LUT from resolve, that holds the color grade for the shot. Can i combine it somehow with ACES RRT output transform? Or what's the way to go? Thanks!

    one thing you can do to analyze and evaluate the quality of vitality of any industry, as well as its progress, is to examine its standard system, if the system is chaos, old, messy, this industry is sure a dead zombie industry, nothing valuable and progressive will come out from it, but if the system is clean, tight, clear, efficient, zero errors, well, you have an amazing industry where lots of amazing things will happen continuously. ACES is such a great positive example, keep going, people!
