Tips for selecting a rhinestone size to create lettering
Excellent tutorial! Very helpful. I’ve been trying to figure out some of the things you discussed here. I learned a lot. Thank you so much for sharing.❤
Thank you for sharing this video. It is helpful. My concern was trying to resize all the circles to the same size. I can't seem to figure that out. When I use the number slots like you showed in the boxes on top (W .102 H .102) it seems to work for one individual stone not a group that might have a couple sizes within it. Example: If there's a group of 30 ss10 stones but let's say 6 of the stones actually look to be ss6 size. Is there a way to circle the group and resize to make them all the same with out having to locate each stone that is the wrong size?
Some designs are made to use two stone sizes because one stone size wouldn't work. Either the details couldn't be made using one stone size or instead of leaving a small gap, the designer filled it with a smaller stone size. If you change the smaller circles to a larger size it will cause the circles to be too close together so you'll have to do some manual adjusting afterward to compensate for changing them to a larger circle. Most listing images will state if the design was made using more than one stone size so you'll want to avoid those types of designs if you only want to use one stone size. To answer your question, I do not know of any way to select by stone size in the program so if you try and change an ss6 circle to an ss10 circle you will have to do it one by one. Also if the two circle sizes are on one template, all you have to do is brush in the larger stone size first, which will leave the smaller holes open, then you brush in the smaller stones next and apply your heat transfer tape. This will save on template material and keep that section lined up perfectly by making one transfer instead of two.
I just found this and very good tips and your templetes are awesome.
So happy that you like the video and my templates too. Thank you!
NICE.
Excellent tutorial and GO LIONS!
You give us kowledge, thank u very much, i watch the commercial which playing in all your youtube videos.
Is this file still available? Love it
Please send me an email at myfileaddiction@gmail.com and I can give you more details.
I sell plotter templates on Etsy and I'm beginning to hate Cricut. I've already got two 1-star ratings from my customers, because "the template doesn't work correctly". It' 2024 and the same bug in Design Space still exist.
For crying out loud, could they make it any harder?
Super helpful! Thank you for the video.
Still happening a year later! And I guess Cricut doesn't care!!!
I have a question on making a purchased template and/or font to be bigger without changing the size of the stones. I have a ttypable rhinestone font, I typed my wording for ss10. The wording is still too small for what I need it for. How can I enlarge the wording without changing the ss10 holes? Your help is so very much appreciated!
Unfortunately you can't do that as you increase the size of the letters the circles also get larger. You have to either choose another font or manually edit the letters in the font that you want to use and add on circles to make the lettering larger.
I know this is 4 years old but i cant seem to find anyone who really uses SS for rhinestone work. I dont use stencils or templates i create my own and due to all the garbage going on in the world today rhinestones have been hard to obtain in my area so i have to purchase overseas which means sizes are not universal and often vary depending on the supplier. I was wondering if i can change the rhinestone circle size myself in my SS business edition to suit my actual rhinestone size? I use varying sizes from ss30 to ss5 as my designs are quite intricate but lately ive noticed the hole cutouts are substantially larger than the actual rhinestone. I mean my ss30 are 6.5mm in size so technically my cutout could be 6.6 max 6.7 but SS has it set as 7mm i mean its huge. It really makes a difference in designing because if im using multiple sizes in my design it could really inaccurately skew my image as i could fit more in or make it look more accurate with the hole being as close to the rhinestone size as possible. Your in put would be greatly appreciated. I know rhinestone sizes are usually standard like ss16 ss10 etc etc but thats why i use the same supplier now and my work is unique for that reason because i use sizes outside the norm and my work is very intricate.
Hi - The Rhinestone Panel in the Silhouette program has an area where you can manually type in a stone size but there is not an area where you can tell the program what size you want the circle to be for that stone size. However, if you find that the circle size that the program has assigned to a specific stone size is too large then what you can do is manually type in a smaller stone size to use in place of that stone size. For example, you said that the ss30 circles were too large. Instead of typing in 30 for the stone size, try typing in 28 instead. The circle for a ss28 will be smaller and might be a better match for the circle size that you are looking for. Do a bunch of test cuts and once you find your replacement sizes, just write them down and use those in place of the "standard" size that the program uses.
@@myfileaddiction thank you very much for the reply. I think this is the best option tedious but once achieved it will be complete. Thank you for taking the time to respond.
@@Moneybags8989 You're very welcome. I'm happy to help!
Love the tutorial but my circuit desisgn space is so slow if I press contour the whole program isn’t working anymore
Unfortunately that is one of the major problems with that program. It does not perform well when it has too many objects to process. Sometimes you have to just walk away and let it process for a while. It might be best to own a second program to do design edits in and then upload the file into Design Space once you have it the way you want.
Thanks for the video. The SVG I got is not formatted for my programme as you in video, how do I go about formatting it, please?
Thank you for sharing!

Thank you.

I just viewed the video on both my computer and iphone and heard it just fine. Maybe you need to adjust the volume level on the device you are viewing the video on.
Thanks for sharing, very helpful!
Beautiful work, your designing is impeccable!
Thank you so much!
Excellent. My second time viewing this video. Learning more each time viewing. Thank you so much. I'll probably watch this again.😁
So happy my information is helpful.
hello , love your video, but why people keep doing pictures instead of just words alone so we can learn with words and sizing and getting the correct rhinestone size, i have been trying to figure out how to do text for a ss6 rhinestone size and with the w: being 9" and the h: being a little less than 2" and still cant' get it for nothing or find a step by step tutorial for it
Did you watch the video all the way through? I did show you how to resize the word Bride that I put together using one of my rhinestone alphabet files.
This was so helpful since I just started with rhinestones. Your an amazing teacher!
This tutorial was exactly what I was looking for! I have been trying to a bride rhinestone and it never looked good. So thank you for such an in-depth lesson!
what is the name of the font?
Here's the link to the rhinestone lettering I used for this video. myfileaddiction.com/products/script-font-rhinestone-digital-download-mfa
So glad I came across your page and website. Do you have a video on how to print after you have done what you just did? I'm new to Rhinestone tumblers and I'd like to do purchase your fonts instead of printing regular vinyl and try to figure out what stones would work etc. Thanks!
Hi Sheila - I replied to your email but I will post here in case anyone else has the same question. Rhinestone files/letters shown in this video cannot be used for tumblers. The files that I make, including the letters, have spaces between each circle so that the design can be cut into a template. Tumbler designs are made with no spaces between the circles so that you try and hide the cup. You would not be able to follow my patterns if you tried to sublimate them onto a cup.
Wow, I appreciate every minute of this video! So much valuable information you’ve shared! Thank you very much😊

Excellent information. Loved your delivery. Thank you for sharing❤
Excellent tutorial to help others. I had come across that same method when I was trying to break apart a picture design a while back. Welding shapes and using the ‘new shape‘ to slice out a picture and/or group of words was a really cool find. I am sure many other newbies will love this tutorial. ❤
I didn't discover this until I was working on a project with my friend who is a frequent Design Space user. Such a different way to break a design up than how I do it in all of my other programs. Once I discovered how this was done I had the idea of how it could be applied to rhinestone files and had to share.
Thank you. Love it. Great learning tips 👍❤
Thanks for this. Still learning the rhinestone world

Great Video, Thanks for sharing💕
This is super helpful as a newbie to silhouette studios! TFS

Great tests but I'll need to go down to an older version as 4.5 doesn't allow for entering the X and Y Offsets. Thank you for taking the time to record and share! Tracey
Make sure you report the issue to Silhouette’s tech support so hopefully they will fix that issue.
Another fantastic and informative video! Great tip to modify one side and duplicate it.
Thank you so much for your tutorials!
You're welcome!
Hi Lori, great tip. I use the .25 spacing on the pink flock and it does better than the blue flock. I was getting a frustrated trying to not mess up designs. So this is good to try on both flocks so I can see the tolerance of both and choose the Glock accordingly. 👍😁 Thank you for sharing❤
I'm so happy you found this helpful. Thanks for watching!
I watched all three of these tip videos and found them to be very informative and easy to follow. Thank you
