I've never seen the cd spot in the glove box that's good to know because i didnt see it under the screen and was confusedhaha. Want to get this car after I'm done with my Kia. Been wanting a Volkswagon since I started learning to dry, my parents had one and my geandpartents had one. Always had a fasination with them, but the Golf is what I've wanted for a couple years haha but haven't been able to afford it. So hopefully wheb I done with my car I have now haha.

Does it have carplay capability?
Thank god I just found this video! Can I ask… can you only select cd, sd card and media in when there is an actual cd in the player or an for example something plugged into the USB port? Currently I can’t select those options they are grey like your media in option shows. Sorry if it’s a stupid question!! Thanks x
If the option is physically there it becomes available, if not it will be greyed out.
I have same multi media it's have back camera but it cannot play video's why how can i play video's on it
Is the Bluetooth audio great quality with no dropouts? That’s the only thing am worried about, I will be installing a very expensive sound system but if the quality is rubbish then 🤷🏾♂️
Ive always found it satisfactory. Compared to the base speakers in an A3 of the same generation, the golf wins hands down.

If you're using sd cards for music, can both slots be used and switched between in the infotainment or is one for nav that isn't usable on the model/trim? And how many cds can the player hold or is it a single disc?
we should find a way to upgrade its system software without changing the hardware to have Car Play or Android Auto functions....neither to waste any resource.
Does it have apple car play?
This version unfortunately doesn't support it out of the box, however you can get a module fitted to extend its features. On new models of the mk 7 (glossy black media system) they include mirror link, Android auto and apple car play.
I have the same media system in my 2014 golf mk7. The system seems a bit old, is there any way to update the software?
Unfortunately not unless you got for a retro fit of the updated systems.
Can you get navigation on this screen?
Not as it currently is, unless you go the aftermarket module route.

@@alexbakerloo1979 if you contact your local Volkswagen, I believe they may be able to retrofit, however this was accurate a few years back.

It’s 2019 and I just bought a 2015 golf gti. Does the media in still only charge the phone?
yes, only charging....I think we could find a way to upgrade the software without changing the hardware to have Car Play or Android Auto functions.
@@BYOU-xj2xf that would be awesome. I think my car would need a big upgrade to get car play unfortunately.

Unfortunately not, unless you upgrade the whole system to the newer 2015 models or onwards in regards to Mirrorlink, Android Auto or Apple Car play.

@@karimsobih7245 There are 3rd party devices available that provide extra functionality using the oem look/equipment and some dealerships may provide retrofitting of navigation to existing head units.

You can't really get a new one anymore. The ones listed as new are actually refurbished.

Great review, I am torn between the Golf or the new Astra.
Both decent cars, I find the Astra is quite a lot heavier and feels sluggish with the lower powered engines though, so may be something to consider.
+ODTMusic Have you test driven the brand new one? It's a hell of a lot lighter and the engines are now a bit quicker quicker than most of the Golf's engines. I test drove the 1.6 Diesel and it felt more like a 2.0.
