Flexi-veggie Japanese cooking
Великобритания
Добавлен 15 мар 2022
Hello I am Tokie, living in London.
In my channel, I will show you how to make Japanese food outside of Japan.
You might think "How or where can I get ingredients?"
Yes, you can't get all the ingredients exactly same in Japan.
You sometimes need to think of replacements.
I am in the same situation as you.
Nowadays Japanese food is getting popular and many supermarkets provide wide range of Asian stuff.
My life in London I also use those and of course Japanese grocery stores too.
My English is not perfect, but I hope you enjoy my videos.

I wish you would state what kind of rice you used and show how to cut the nori for us inexperienced
@@Kittyintherain57 Hello, yes, you are right. I should have mentioned what kind of rice I used in my Onigiri video. Thank you for your advice ☺️
@ so can you tell me ?
@@Kittyintherain57 oh, yes. about the rice. we Japanese in Japan love short grain Japonica rice. the rice has stickinss and easy to shape Onigiri. this is the difference between long grain rice and short grain rice. if you find Sushi rice, it means short grain rice. some people outside of Japan can't get short grain rice easily because Long grain rice accounts for 70% of the world's total rice production. I have been thinking that I can not make Onigiri with long grain rice. but I have found a way to make it. if you want to maki Onigiri with long grain rice, please refer the video below. ruclips.net/video/i3q6qgYRtMw/видео.html To cut Nori seaweed , just cut into the shape your desire using scissors I hope this will help you.

Many years ago, I traveled to Japan and bought a pack of local miso from Takayama, but because I didn’t know how to cook it, it was wasted😅 After that, I only bought convenient small packs in supermarkets to make soup. Now they also produce various powdered soup dumplings with different flavors. They taste very good and I always have them at home😋
Hi, Thank you for telling me your story. Takayama? Is it Gifu prefecture ? I am sure you bought a good Miso 😀. You can keep Miso for long in the fridge. Glad to hear you enjoy Miso soup regularly ☺️

From today on: this recipe! Made this for dinner tonight and it is delicious! The apple and the onion make it fresh, I love how all the flavors come together ❤

Would you recommend using mirin, soy sauce and corn starch for also making regular curry with rice? Thank you for your lovely videos :)
@@elizabethbacher Hello, Thank you for your comment. For regular curry, this soup is too weak and not thick enough. To make Japanese curry, use curry roux and follow the instraction of the backage please 😄
I live abroad and can relate to your sentiment about not being able to get the authentic ingredients. One note to remember: if you use dashi with dried anchovies, that would not be vegan. I enjoyed your vlog!
@heebonghyun5066 hello, Thanks for watching and your comment. Yes, if you use fish Dashi powder, it is not vegan. I used Kombu seaweed Dashi for this video, so soup itself is vegan. But I used chicken, so this dish is not vegetarian or vegan.
