Xterra No Spark: Free Xterra, Will It Run?
Did you drill a new hole for the roll pin or drill out the old hole? If so, my question is there a reason you can't use the old hole for the new roll pin? It looked like you drilled a brand new hole in the distributor shaft.
Will the sniper #2 work on a Ford stock 4 barrel intake manifold
Can I load a Sniper 1 config file into a brand new Sniper 2 without doing anything else (besides getting past the wizard initially)? Or do I still need to do things like setting the IAC/idle?
Question...I have a tune I am going to convert. Does the Sniper 2 continue to learn and improve on this tune or not does it remain the same? Thanks!
It will be exactly the same as it is on the original sniper if you don’t make any changes to it.
Thank you sir!
What kind of semi truck leveling valve did u use
This is the exact one I used. Firestone Ride-Rite 9257 Height... www.amazon.com/dp/B003EOZO3M?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I want that exact same setup any advice or bags or equipment u recommend and should u weld them or bolting is just as fine
Good tip! Always learning something new about these. Thanks!
I'd be very interested in any more Holley Sniper and Sniper 2 videos!! .. The original Sniper is still for sale at many outlets (at least on line) IMO It's not THAT much cheaper than the Sniper 2 .. that makes me think some people like it better. I'd like to know if Holley is still MAKING IT?? ..... Or did they stockpile a bunch for customers who still want the original??? Or is it just old stock lag online resellers have laying around??
Simply using the recommended. Power Distribution Module would also solve this problem. Good video BTW!!
Never stop asking people to subscribe, it is your right. Just dont do it before the content begins...that is tacky and offensive !!
What I’ve heard was there were issues with fuel distribution when using a duel plane. Some cylinders ran dangerously lean under hard throttle. I’m pretty sure I heard the guys on Engine Masters make that comment when testing some intakes. It was not a test of the efi unit itself. Without a dyno and o2 sensor for every cylinder it would be difficult to know. Probably drag racers who were good at reading plugs could tell.
Thank you ,it is still nerve racking to me
My dad and i messed around with this on an Air Gap and a Victor Junior. Dual plane can work pretty well if you run a spacer or hollow out the divider, but you will get a reading on the MAP that jumps around a bit which did cause minor issues at part throttle. In theory you do lose some of the low RPM/load benefits of a dual plane because EFI doesn't need the air velocity to draw fuel out of a carb, which is helped by dividing the barrels. But EFI does keep the benefits of the longer runners.
Just got my sniper 2 haven't put it on yet i have a 91 302 ho mustang engine stripped off all emissions stuff I'm using a 2 inch spacer will this spacer be a problem this 2 inch spacer helps performance greatly
Spacers almost always improve things. They very rarely have negative side effects. If you have hood clearance for it I say go for it, 100%
I wanted to see that leveling vale install forsure
Thanks so much!!
Thank you
Thats not how my Sniper Stealth works with progressive linkage. I've watched mine while idling and only the front two barrels are spraying. After 40% my rear injectors start spraying. Idk if Holley made any changes or what but mine works flawlessly despite having a cracked mounting tab next to the 3/8" PCV port
Then you have the only one in existence that works that way. I have tested this on many units and every firmware. I’d love to see a video of it flowing fuel on only the front barrels
@@DirtySideGetsDown If I could post a video in the comments then i would. They dont use just the left or right side injectors. That doesnt make sense. The wiring for your injectors must be wrong if that's happening. Thats the only explanation. You could try switching the injector connectors as a test
@Wilson_Racing you can email a video to me dirty side gets down @ gmail. Com. I have tested this on many sniper stealths with all firmware options. I sell and support these for a living. The Terminator X Stealth does work correctly, but I have never seen a sniper stealth work correctly
@@DirtySideGetsDown I'll take a video sometime today and send it to you
@@DirtySideGetsDown could only send a 10 second video due to file size limitations but it's sent
I'll stick with a decent carb, and enjoy the little quality drive time, I get to actually enjoy the drive. At least until Holley, or some new competitor comes up with something more robust, as to not suffer such basic drivability/reliability concerns, even when buy all of their ala cart solutions, and still need to go to RUclips EFI University to have a decent chance to drive to a show or cruise night, and be embarrassed by coming home on a "hook".!
The problem is nobody looks at the Sniper for what it is. It is a complete stand alone EFI system for $1200. If you want better then get a Terminator X Stealth. Buying a Sniper then complaining about it is like going to Walmart for a steak and then complaining that it’s not quality butcher shop meat. You didn’t pay for top quality meat you paid for a budget system.
You think 1200$ is a "drop in the bucket" well its not for most guys . If the sniper systems reliably did what they advertise there wouldnt be a problem . I think its more like going to the butcher for a quality steak and recieving a golden corral quality steak. Self tuning without a mass air meter bahahahahaha
I never said $1200 is a drop in the bucket. $1200 is a lot of money. What I am saying is compared to a quality EFI system it is cheap. Price a Haltec, Motec, Fueltech etc. plus a throttle body, all sensors and injectors then see how it adds up. The sniper has to be low quality to hit the price point. You will never find a for me free system at this price point. I have had my hands on plenty of these that were rock solid once I was done, they can be great when installed correctly.
Too many idiots on the internet.
Let me start, by saying I love most of the OEM based, EFI systems the hobby has used over the past 30 years. That said, for all of the money, Holley has thrown at the Sniper series, and all of the acquisitions of all of smaller independent legacy brands as well, I find the current RFI issue to be unacceptable... Obviously, this controller design and packaging is not as robust as it should be... I appreciate the "craft" enthusiastic users and quasi tech support independent guys like you, who really provide value, to the poor guys, who spend good money, and so much of their precious little hobby time, trying to troubleshoot a system, that has gone thru at least three major changes (sniper, sniper II, Terminator x, or whatever), and still haven't addressed this inherently unstable base design RFI vulnerability, it's plain pathetic. One has got to 🤔 think, a larger, remote mounted ECM, with the equivalent protective electronic filtering circuitry and a decently effective "faraday" cage design similar to what the OEM's have used for eons now, is long overdue.. You read story after story, of how guys buy these things, have problems, get help, buy the next "Gen", only to suffer some other drivability/reliability issue..
The thing most people don’t think about is to make the sniper better it would have to cost more. The big mistake Holley made was trying to make an EFI system for under $1000. They did it, but it meant that it wasn’t great. If you go into a sniper knowing its budget EFI and are very meticulous with the installation they can be really good. Also, the sniper 2 seems to have really addressed all of the original sniper issues. I make my living selling and supporting these things and I have yet to have a sniper 2 have any of the issues the sniper 1 was known for.
@@DirtySideGetsDown I appreciate your informed, honest and thorough response here. I have to admit, I have lusted after several cars/builds, on the upper end, using Terminator X, on multi port manifolds, with all of those (needed) accessories, and a pro tune on completion... Its seeing those hard luck stories, for the guy chasing the $1000.00 value install, that just bums me out at times.. Thanks for being a resource, for people who want to go down this road, eyes and wallet open, so to speak.. God bless...😃
I have the Holley Terminator Stealth system, not Terminator X. Can I upgrade the 80lb. injectors to a 100lb or 120 lb. injectors the same as the Terminator X?
You can, but you will need to use a wiring adapter. Those systems use an EV1 connector and there are no higher flowing EV1 injectors that will fit. If you use the 100 lb/hr 522-101X or the 120 lb/hr 522-121X you will need an adapter like this. a.co/d/fwrW2Iz The single piece plastic won’t fit.
@@DirtySideGetsDown Awesome! Can I get those injectors on your website?
Yes, both the 100 lb/hr and 120 lb/hr are here. www.efisystempro.com/sniper-terminator-x-efi-injectors-522-101x
@@DirtySideGetsDown I ordered them, thank you.
I have never heard that it wouldnt work. I have heard that it makes a funny noise if you dont use a spacer... And also that it runs better if you put a spacer on it
Great job like it .
Thank you so much!
Awesome thanks for making the video. Just what I was looking for.
Glad I could help!
Stumbled across this video by chance. Awesome mod to a great press
What kind of air pump did you use
It’s a viair pump like a lot of bagged trucks use. I couldn’t tell you the model though. I bought it like 7-8 years ago
Does this x have a spot for a map sensor on the front side (Holley info is super vague on this) really like the shape of this TB vs the older stealth and ability to run an oem air cleaner base with locating tabs
There are 2 options for a map sensor on the front. There is a small 1/8” vacuum port then there is also an 1/8” npt plug you can remove and put a fitting in for another vacuum port.
Wonder if it would work with the 20 Ton Press.???? I have a lot of slop in my 20 Ton, very impressive, I like your ideas
I think so. My next trip to harbor freight I plan to take 2 of the brackets with me and see if it fits. I have an email address in the about section here, if you want to shoot me an email I can let you know.
@DirtySideGetsDown yes.! Thank you, I will sent you my email info I really appreciate that Thank you
@DirtySideGetsDown sorry I couldn't find your email
@@V8SKULLS I don't really want to post it here cause of scamming and such, but it is just the channel name at gmail.com
@@DirtySideGetsDown I totally understand. Gotcha.!!!!!
DUDE. I got these exact same press two months ago and I have the exact same issues and came the the exact same conclusion, put guide bearings to ride on the uprights, but haven't done the mods yet. (you got it done first, you win!). Awesome to see it in action, great job!
Even if I can’t help come to a conclusion I’m happy I could help confirm a conclusion. The whole goal of my channel is to get people working on solutions or gaining some motivation to sort their stuff out. I want people to get out in their garage, shop, carport, driveway, whatever and get things done. I have worked on cars parallel parked on the street in front of an apartment, driveway, single car garage and big shop now. We all start somewhere
How much cause i want one please
I want one
a double wheel on the each side of the top inside brackets 6' apart would help keep it from rocking left to right (when you pressed down you could see it) the further apart the better, however tall the jack is compressed.
I considered doing that as I was putting it all together, but it seems lateral movements were more the issue than rocking so I figured it would be fine. The top tabs would work on the underside too though so they can always be added if needed
Keep it up killer
So… make sure the pink is clean. I think I can remember that😁
😂🤣😂
I have one of those little presses, and have the same problem with it. Thanks for the idea! I may go work on mine now. (subscribed)
Glad I could help!!
Was going to suggest some kind of adjustment, then I saw your eccentric adjustment, looks great!
I always kind of had the idea of making g this as a kit to sell, so I figured it would need some adjustment to compensate for manufacturing differences of these presses. I’m sure the uprights don’t fluctuate much, but I’d imagine the part my pieces get welded to will by a few thousandths or so in width.
Fantastic idea. 🤘
Thank you sir. It feels a little overkill, but overkill is underrated. Lol
Hi , i have a holley sniper 2300 and I want to use a dual plane intake wtith a holley 17-90 adapter , do you think can works ?
You shouldn’t have any problem with that at all.
@@DirtySideGetsDown Thanks
Wear did you source your replacement gear from? I got one from summit and it just slips on not wanting to install it without having it press on.
If it’s a Ford then you definitely don’t want to use one that just slides on. Chevy gears go on like that. We have them at efisystempro.com
@DirtySideGetsDown right on thanks!
that vette is beautiful.
Thank you sir. I am not really a Corvette guy, but I know a deal when I see one and this was for sure that. If you or anyone you know might be interested in owning it, keep an eye out. It will be for sale in a few weeks after I fix a few more things on it.
That supposed to say on a dyno not a dump
I don’t think I’m picking up what you’re throwing down
I have a brand new 383 in a 90 k5 blazer with the sniper2 and the hyperspark distributor. The engine was built by smeding performance and they tuned the sniper on a dyno, when I have it in overdrive and I’m just cruising it at normal speeds it loses power and it won’t recover until I put the throttle all the way to the floor. It doesn’t do it in third gear when I take it outta OD it runs great I’m hoping it’s a tuning issue that you can help me with,
Sounds like there could be a weird rich or lean spot in the area where the OD puts it on the fuel table. I don’t really do any tuning outside of my day job at efisystempro.com but if you want to email through our site I can probably take a look
Ok thank you I’ve got a little more work to do on it before it’s gonna be ready to drive on a regular basis but I’ll touch base with you in the middle of April
Car turned out Amazing can’t wait to see it at the track. Great Job.
You and me both!
Looks & sounds great, Turbo! :) Awesome work.
That's a nasty sounding big block! I approve the flame delete
Thank you sir. We tried to modernize the look as much as we could. After some trips to the track we will be modernizing the performance some too depending on the times it runs. That will be ok upcoming episodes.
Hey boss I’m fixing my own 79cj7 and I’m make g my own body mounts and was wondering if u knew the measurements of holes and placements
Even Holley tech told me the same too..
This video is probably fine for somebody that knows how to do this but I don't know what a coil is. I don't know where the coil is. I don't know what to check with the voltmeter to see if it is working or not. It's not an instruction video for the idiots. It's an instruction video for people that just about know how to do it.
It wasn’t intended to be an instructional video, more entertainment based.
Excellent video
Thank you very much!
