The key is removing the front control panel as the first step of disassembly. Very eas...

Hey budy, I have an issue after swap my mazda 3 2013 engine, the seller sell me a mechanical engine and the starter is not fitting well and doing some extrange noise, have you had something like this? Could you give a consultation?
What year is the car that you did the swap in and what year and model was the 2.5 out of?
@@Rickkari7 is 2013, and the swap engine is the same year and model
Is this possible with a gen2 Skyactiv an what transmission is best to use ??
Transmission choice is up to what you prefer. Skyactiv are direct injection so the head is different. Not sure about the short block, but believe they have different compression ratio. Basically this works for the regular port fuel injected 2.0 and 2.3 cars to use a 2.5 port injected engine in it's place. I would check out Mazda 3 forum and other internet sources to get a definitive on where the skyactiv would fit in all of this. As far as swapping a later skyactiv drivetrain into a older Mazda 3, that would be a upgrade. I'm sure someone has done it which would involve computer and harness swap too as well as other mods or parts from the donor car.
This shit right here is why I love RUclips 😅
Where did you Oder the adapter plate from?
eBay. Just looked. In stock. www.ebay.com/itm/394978656675
@@Rickkari7 thank you!
Hi, are you still using the 2.3 ecu on this swap?
used original 2.3 ecu in the '04 mazda 3 manual trans swap and the 2007 mazda 6 auto trans swap. no issues in either car
I have a mazda 6 2004 with blown 2.3 . What motor can I swap to? It seems if you can find a 2.3 they are pretty expensive. @@Rickkari7
You can do 2.3’s or 2.5’s out of Mazda that aren’t skyactiv or 2.5 Fords that are naturally aspirated up through like 2017ish. You’ll have to do required parts swaps or modifications based on what you use per my 6 videos or what you see on Mazda 3 forum. Hit the links in my description.
will the 2.5 ford engine fit into a 2010 mazda 3 with the 2.5 engine without any mods?
You don't have to modify the long block, but you will have to swap timing cover, oil pans etc... You can keep the 2.3 intake with a adapter plate or use the Ford intake, but you will have a check engine light because of the lack of Intake manifold runner control on it unless you rig it. See videos and read the Mazda 3 forum threads to see what you need to do and the options with the intake. Have fun with it.
My A/C compressor went out, and I did the 2.5 swap on my 06, do I buy the A/C compressor for the 2.3 engine ? Or the 2.5?
Get the one for the car designated for a 2.3.
Thank you. You saved me a lot of time.
How do you remove steam mist hose holding the front panel on
IDK. Never done it. I pulled the front panel out enough to dislodge the offending metal string thingy.
The fusion engine you use out of what year ford is it please. Trying to do a 2007 Mazda 6 swap so what years ford fusion will fit the 2007 Mazda 6? Thx
Any Fusion 2.5 up to like 2017 or 2018.
i'll be replacing my 04 mazda 6 engine soon. all the videos are very helpful! thank you so much
Thank you so much for this video! We could not find this info in the manual. This allowed us to remove the small metal end (from sweat pants) that had broken off and was making a horrible noise. Your video made it quick and easy!
Thank you!
About to tackle this job. Taking down that cross member and mount makes it look waaaay easier. Saw a vid where they didn’t remove it and it looked like a pain…. I’ll go with this method. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you!
Hey when you did the engine swap and did everything. Did it run a bit rough in the beginning? Also did you have to run it 200 miles for the ecu to relearn itself?
Both swaps I did ran good from the beginning.
@@Rickkari7My car jerks every time I switch gears. Also when it idles the rpm’s jump from 200-500
@@mainboss2253 do you have a check engine light and fault codes? If so, that should lead to something. If not, I would check basics like timing, vacuum leaks, connections etc…

How has that adapter plate been holding up? I need to get one also but was just wondering if it’s been working good
As far as I know. I haven’t seen that car in a couple of years. I work at a new shop. There is no reason it shouldn’t hold up. The one I installed was metal. I would go that route again if I was doing this swap for sure. Worked great and ran great.
@@Rickkari7someone said that it limits the engines power slightly. Is that true ?
@@mainboss2253 not my experience. I’ve done the 2.5 fusion intake and the 2.3 OEM intake with the adapter plate. The latter actually seemed to run with a little more power than the other.
Did you remove the temp sensor from the ford head.
Believe I removed it.
Would the bellhousing line up for a 5spd mt to a 2006-2012 fusion? Was going to use a 14 fusion 2.5 but was informed the bellhousing bolts wouldnt line up, and i was suspicious because i hadnt seen this problem for anyone on the forums, wondering if the 14 changed.
5sp mt from a 2007 mazda6 2.3 na
Should line up on any 2.5. I did a personal swap on my mt 2004 mazda 3 with a 2015 fusion automatic engine with no issues. Don't know where that info came from. Got to make sure you install a new pilot bearing into crankshaft of new 2.5 auto engine you use.
@@Rickkari7thank you sir
Thank you. Exactly what I needed to know.
I’m doing a swap on my mazda 6 06 but I’m doing a Mzr 2.5 swap instead of a ford one. Will the swap be a direct swap since it’s the Mzr ? Or what will I need to change?
Don’t know. Just compare them on a stand and swap what needs to be swapped. Guessing a lot of the things in these videos will apply, especially the intake difference. The long block is the same whether Mzr or Ford.
Thank you for this, saved me so much time. I will getting the panel off after removing the screw took some effort but without this video I would not know to keep going.
Thanks for this. I have this dryer and I am trying to figure out how to take off the lint housing. Anybody have any ideas?
Haven’t dug into it that far.
I have a 14 mazda 6 gt with a 2.5 Skyactiv. Will a fusion motor 2.5 work?
The skyactiv is a high compression direct injection. The fusion is a port injection engine. These videos apply to non skyactiv engines.
@@Rickkari7 ok but can’t I swap the head and it be okay from my 2.5 skyactiv to a 2010 2.5 non skyactiv.? This mazda is fun and dying to get back on the road
@@markcox492 the skyactiv is higher compression I believe so the short block would be different because of the pistons. You may want to check on the internet. I’m going by my research of reading up on the skyactiv, not personal experience. I could be wrong.
@@Rickkari7 thanks for the tip I do know the Skyactiv 2.5 is high $$$ compare to a non skyactiv 2.5.

Omg you are the best. I couldn't find how to take that apart for hours!
Thank you so much, I was stuck 🫶🏼

Hi how are u love your work
Thanks for the video. Straight to the point on disassembly. Big help.
Anyone know which intake cam looks like it has more duration/lift? Trying to figure out which one would make more power, even if it's a small difference, can't complain with free power
Don’t remember the specs I read on a Mazda 3 forum post, but the 2.5 had better profiles which is why I swapped the cam sensor wheel from my 2.3 cam to the 2.5 cam instead of just swapping the whole cam on my 2004.
What the hell kinda video was this??? Didn't teach us Shhh.....TAKE IT DOWN Man... Boooo...👎👎👎
So for a 2006 Mazda 2.3 to a 2011 fusion alot of these issues can be resolved by using the Mazda parts
An engine lasting more than 190k isn't junk
I hear you. Very true. I should have said that the engines have a flawed design that doesn't allow for good lubrication resulting in premature catastrophic failure. The 2.5 has an improved design. Some go a lot longer, but the fact that there are a ton of videos and forum post about the weakness of the 2.3 prove the design is "junk". My own experience with these vehicles leaves the "junk" comment in my brain. 190K. Very fortunate for sure. Always a diamond in the rough.

Been to dealer and multiple shops just to waste thousands and have same issue… I am wondering if there is any way you could help me out or where you are located?
Just another question, I pulled a 2.3 out of an '07 Mazda 6 replaced it with a 2011 Ford fusion 2.5. I paid close attention to the details I ordered. That adapter plate. Only thing I have a question about is I could not change out the VVT cam solenoid because it was completely different as far as heights related and everything else. And I didn't want to fool with rednecking that gasket that was a different size. That being said, I did reuse the 2.5 valve cover. There is a extra sensor of some sort dead center in the middle of this head that the 2.3 did not have. Will this run without it or will this cause an issue?
That's the cylinder head temp sensor that Ford uses. You can just remove it.
@@Rickkari7 greatly appreciate your time and feedback
How’s it running ? I might have to do a engine swap soon so im curious on how it’s running
@@mainboss2253 personally I think it runs great and there's definitely a power increase notice.
Thank you for posting this. I couldn’t find it anywhere else
Thank you. You are a life saver. I guessed the screw was hidden, but really it was seeing where certain screws go after my epic fail on taking step by step disassembly photos. I guess blurry pictures of my legs are…interesting? That didn’t help LOL. Thanks again!
Does anyone know if the sub frame crossmember from 2006 to 2008Mazda 6 3.0L Auto is the same as the Ford Fusions? I can’t find one for my 6 I mean anywhere at a around $2-300
I don't. Possible. Be good if you could find one at a local salvage yard and look. They may even let you buy one and return it if it isn't compatible.
Appreciate your input
Ok so I'm mid way through this and I don't have that intake adapter plate so I thought I'd just join the form page and see your modified 2.5 intake. My factory 2.3 has butterflies in the ports, as well as the throttle body bolt patter is way different. How do I fix this ? Mazda is 2007 mazda 6 (2.3 ) Motor is a 2011 Ford fusion.
You can get a adapter plate on Ebay for $56.19. This is the route I would go. Then you just use all of the original stuff and, in my opinion, it runs better than using the Ford intake. www.ebay.com/itm/184223114460?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=ZekylVX8Sh-&sssrc=2047675&ssuid=4q3SzkzKQF2&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

Can I swap mazda cx-7 2.3L with 2.5 fusion engine.
You can use the 2.5, but you can only use the short block from it. Everything else from the 2.3, including the head, will have to be transferred over because the 2.3 is a direct injection turbo and the 2.5 isn't. Many guys have done this on Mazdaspeed 3's that have the same engine as the turbo CX-7. If you look though the Mazda 3 forum or search RUclips videos you can find this swap being done and get specifics from them.
Thank you! I never would’ve found the screw behind the knob and known to lift up on the control panel 🙂
Cause I got a bunch of daughters 🤣
