DO NOT By a Roof Rack Before Watching This Video

Things to Consider When Buying a Roof Rack
Tysm! My father owns one and we didn't know everything idk why people are toxic like this vid is actually useful
I believe i have a Leak coming from the sensor or the coolant water hose connector 😮💨
1. Expansion tank 2. Connections at both sides of upper radiator hose 3. Thermostat and water pump because of plastic impeller 4. Lower radiator hose, and/or coolant temperature sensor 5. The radiator. 6. Automatic transmission cooler - often overlooked but o-rings can be bad 7. Fan could be related to overheating I would also add, and they are a pain in the butt, but the plastic hoses that go to the engine block. Those also go bad, too. Unfortunately you have to remove the intake manifold to do that.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge. The video was essential for me to be able to make the necessary repairs on my 2002 BMW 320i 2.2 24v. My name is RaGe and I live in Brazil, on the southern border with Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay
Ive just been told that i might have a small coolamt leak while it was having a service and oil change. But he wasn't sure where from, said it could have been the expansion tank or the radiator. Its my first car so im pretty new to this stuff. So any advice on how to check foe where my leak might be coming from, would be very much appreciated! Its a bmw 316ti, 2004, if that helps
Its way too low bro you need to set way up higher than that
was thinking of buying a pair, but i hate funny noises. thank you
Mine leaks where your mates did :(
Do I have to pull out the fan to do the water pump ?
great help
I clicked on this video because it was titled "How to remove fan AND SHROUD" and I watched you remove the fan, but not the shroud...and your reasoning is because "it's a pain"...?
Yeah, huge help. A how to vid that doesn't show you how, because it's too hard.
It's kind of obvious because Once you remove the fan it comes out with the shroud
You forgot to mention the worst of them all, the 2 plastic pipes underneath the intake manifold. That type of job that will ruin your week and weekend combine - That job that if you ended up taking it to the a reputable shop that will charge you an arm and a leg; $1,800 just the labor itself w/o parts. Yet we haven’t mention the oil filter housing gasket and the list goes on and on 😂
There are so many to list haha. I'm going to make a more comprehensive video with everyone's feedback.
Don’t me wrong, is an excellent built car; Just don’t recommend ownership to anybody that doesn’t wrench or he/she will be broke in months
Thank you for this video! Is there a certain type of soldering kit that you need to use to take it off and replace like watts etc?
Got a question what the name of that radar detector?
That’s a whistler
Z11r
THANKS - That was useful info.
I saw another video that the guy used a VL2020 3 volt battery he linked to on amazon. I couldn't find an LIR20225. Plenty of CR2025s but they don't have the tabs and are not rechargeable.
No one talking about how cheap it is to buy parts tho 👀👀
cuz there too lazy to fix the vehicle and would rather just buy another where they can just do the oil and forget about it
@@46godruh i bought a 2002 330xi perfect condition for 850$ just has cluster issue and overheating, overheating was cause fan clutch and cluster was cause bad voltage issue 😂 now car runs like a dream and only put 200$ into it, dude just didn't feel like fixing it and wanted it gone
@@WhosThatWhippin that’s such a come up haha nice man they really the easiest cars to work on, still never taken mine to a mechanic fixed a lot on her did the water pump, expansion tank and bracket, differential swap to the 3.64, window regulator, trans gasket& filter and a bunch of hoses everywhere. saved probably $7k by doing everything myself. e46 is the funnest daily you can get for the $
The fan clutch nut has left hand threads. Not a trivial detail.
Left out in the video on which direction it comes loose
Yea, you can see which way it's spinning in the video. But thanks for confirming
Actually, this info is most relevant, compared to the content in this video. .
Thank you! This is insane, who makes a key that cannot have it's battery replaced?
A company that expects the (continuously recharging ) battery of the key to last longer then the car it self. I changed mine after 300.0000 km. But yes, it should be replacable anyway.
The entire coolant system needs replacing!!!
What a great video. Thank You
(Hidden???) Your E46 tips aren't what e46 owners haven't already discovered or were learned upon purchase.... Air time for you on RUclips is!
The second one isn’t a hidden feature.
the last trick was new to me..... thank you.
I’m buying a 2019 740i, and I’m upset that it doesn’t come with the mounts OEM. My 2014 BMW 535xi GT had OEM roof Mount capability which was on a 7 series chassis. You forgot to mention that families on long trips, love the flexibility of having roof storage.
Another hidden feature is the pedal next to the brake in the right. If you press on it the car goes.
No it doesn’t.
These hidden features have another name.... Called Options.
Really bro, a dimmer switch is a hidden feature???
Lol this car is just a money pit I've already replaced many parts it's crazy.
Lmaoo bro get a Honda then I like my e46
great video, thanks
This video was about your hands 🙌
thanks for this
Your video sucks. Finish it.
Hoses and other stuff under stand but so many parts for these cars now a days no reason yours should fail
You guys should stop using plastic and buy aluminum pump and thermostat housing saves a lot of money and more durable car not poorly made you just need to keep up you shouldn’t own one if you can’t keep up with it
Thank you!!
awesome
Could you put the link in the description of where you ordered the battery? Thanks for the video.
Been there done all that…honestly these cars are just fun to drive when working properly! Parts on bmw’s are designed to fail at certain mileage and in groups so you have to do them together otherwise keep going to shop and yes that generates money for bmw with after service and parts.i have yet to see any other car which needs so many parts! Next i would go for lexus ( reliable bmw replacement)
Is300, a Japanese car that feels like a BMW 328i
Very useful video, thanks for posting
Short & to the point…get the 32 mm long clutch nut wrench & the fan pulley bolt offset wrench. I tried to do it without them - it’s a nightmare.
Just put a 32 on it and give it a couple smacks with a hammer
thank you bro, i need to replace my serpentine belt
Hey buddy my name is hunter I live in North Carolina I have a e46 add me on Instagram and we can talk about our cars Bc I need someone that knows what there doing you know what I mean, but my ig is E46.hunter
The amount of plastic components on my E39 make me want to commit seppuku 🔪🙋♂️
I'm getting a wet fart sound at 1k rpms, any clue, I thought it was a head gasket, nope, thought it was the radiator cap, comes front front driver side.
i have this same problem once you find out please let me know i have no idea
@@wrailes2680 was my heater core hose the ones with the easy snaps, it even went away as far as the sound, leaks but to the extent I gotta top it off weekly, I need to replace it but it's not an urgent matter.
@@ThroughthelurkinglassHopefully mine is the same
Check the front drivers seat!
Great video. I bought my e46 last year and had a leak the other day. SOmeone said it came from the hose near the manifold but not 100% sure. It seems this is a common problem with this cars which makes them a real pain in the ass! I shouldn't have bought one of these cars. They're badly engineered! Can't wait to fix and sell mine.
They are greatly engineered, and absolutely very easy to work on. Sometimes time consuming but definitely not hard or bad engineered. These are great cars just keep up with maintenance and you’ll be fine
Peen
I agree, this car would great if it had real parts instead of cheap plastic parts, and I hate how cheap the door lock is, especially when the fob stops working, JUNK BMW!! but I love the car overall
And window regulators lol
You forgot two real "hidden features" 1 glove box has a flashlight that is plugged in on the upper left side (might have to bend down to see) pulls straight out. 2 there is a first aid kit under the front passenger seat. If it is still in your car it will be a drawer type compartment. If it is not there you can tell by just simply feeling the front bottom of the seat. If it's gone you will feel an obvious indentation where it use to line up.
You’re a god
This car is a extremely poorly made leaking bucket....correction expensive leaking bucket. I made the mistake of buying one. These BMW’s should be classified as toys with the amount of plastic parts they use on the engine...cheaply made plastic parts that cost an arm and a leg! Stay away from these.
Correct. My engine bay, every pipe and gasket seems to be leaking. Check engine light is on. It’s a nightmare trying to get it all fixed.
@@petea7323 literally 😅
Anybody ever make aftermarket parts that are not plastic? Like connectors or Something?
@@Imsoocoool you are right it’s not a Toyota, I had lots of those with all good experiences. I have a Toyota Tundra right now it’s 20 years and still running like new all original. I guess to enjoy BMW you have to flip them every 2 years like the Range Rovers.
Dude fr lol second coolant leak / fix in 2 years & only 50-60k miles 😂
