Installing Legend SecuriLock Cargo Van Locks on Ford Transit
Would the wheels on a heavy laundry bin sink into this material?
Yea it might. If you're rolling heavy carts, I'd recommend the StabiliGrip rigid floor: upfitsupply.com/product/stabiligrip-rigid-floor-ram-promaster/
What temperature does it need for installation?
So, a rivnut.
Yes, very much like a rivnut.
Seems like a worse rivet?
Plus nuts have greater pull-out strength and a wider grip range than standard rivnuts.
These vans are long overdue for a facelift. They haven’t received any facelifts since 2003, which was over 20 years ago. Their configurations/options have changed but certain components are already more than outdated. Also, they’re the only remaining American full-size vans to be body-on-frame since the Econoline discontinued its van body in 2014, so they deserve more attention as they’re the last of a dying breed.
I'm hanging on to my Chev Astro van
Right on!
I love this!
I got one for tundra but I need mounts for the accessory rail...gonna try Amazon ones I ordered..
Can those clips be used when truck has accesdory rail? 2918 tundra..
Sometimes the accessory rails or even the factory bed rails of the truck (ex. Tacoma) will interfere with the mounting. Weather Guard does say that their crossover boxes do fit 2018+ Toyota Tundra trucks. You'll just want to double check there is an area under the bed rails where those clamps can make contact.
Does it rattle
Nothing significant that we have noticed.
holy gyat
Very good presentation. Here in New Jersey, the Connect is $1,000s cheaper than the Pro, and much easier to find, so that's my choice for my starter delivery van business. Thanks for the great info.
Mine is locked but my button doesn’t stay in. I can lock and unlock it just fine but when it’s locked the button stays out. Is that fine? I just bought mine and have the newest one
If the button does not recess in the box, you probably have a "03 series" box which is the previous generation. If you look at the Product Registration label on the inside of the lid, the model number will either end in 03 or 04. 04 boxes the locks recess in the box when locked. 03 boxes the locks do not recess.
Its important to know both vans can be ordered without windows. And transit with barn doors. Kinda dumb to review 2 vans based on the different options ordered. Do an apple to apple comparison!
I'm very happy with my Slick Locks, which I just installed. However, I found one issue - which appears in this video, as well as in the written instructions that came with the lock set (2012 Chevy Express w/ sliding door). The user is told to discard all spacers for the rear door installation. Don't do this! Discard only one, to compensate for the thickness of the Slick Lock. My door stuck like crazy after removing all the spacers. I put one back in and it shuts and opens perfectly. Thanks for a great product.
Great advice, thanks for sharing!
Is it compatible with Toyota Tacoma 2019?
There are crossover boxes that will "fit" in a Tacoma bed, but there isn't a way to attach it to the side rails because of their bed rail system.
First one here
I watched this video because most of the different grille guards have the upper attachment. I was worried that it would puncture the radiator with a simple bump (accident). If my engineering mind is correct, it looks like those brackets will bend or break above the connection point to the bumper and possibly keep from puncturing the radiator. Is that how they're designed?
Good question! I'm not exactly sure if they were designed with that intent, but agree with your assessment. The top mounts seem more for stabilizing while the majority of the load is sent to the lower mounts.
You mentioned that those shelves could be flipped over the other way if you felt the need to have a lip on your shelf to hold things in place. Shelves are for putting things on... vans move and go around corners... who in all honesty want Shelves without the lip to keep things in place..? Except for you, why?..?
Good question! If you wanted to attach mounting plates for Milwaukee Packouts or drawer units or other surface-mount type accessories, mounting flush side up is the way to go. You can also mount a hinged door on the front of the shelf as well to keep things in place.
I just bought one today for my tundra. Its an 03 but i got it for 750.00 Now if i can figure out how to get that damn tray in ill be alright.....i think
Nice! It is a bit of a challenge to get that tray in. This is my method: ruclips.net/video/4Ypk3JojKQ0/видео.htmlsi=yD18tWZoOe4zi4fQ&t=406
@@upfitsupply thank you I actually got it right after I posted
Do you guys install the kits?
I would drive my Chevy Express 2024 from Toronto Canada and leave it with you.
@@williamblas1651 Unfortunately, we do not offer installation services at this time.
I wish the mounting was more solid to the frame. If anything is bumped it’ll all just buckle.
How can i get one

@@upfitsupply I need something to block out cold time
I have one of the low roof Ford transit 250
I wish I could get the measurement from the start of the cargo area to the start of a wheel well. I'd like to tuck a toolbox in the corner without it sticking out too much.
Does this measurement guide give you the measurement your looking for? upfitsupply.com/measurements/ford-transit-148-wb-interior-cargo-measurements/
@upfitsupply yes, on the door side, it gives a couple of dimensions. If i add them both together, it gives me the dimension I'm looking for. Thank you so much. Both my boxes will fit behind the driver. There is more room there than it looks like in the video.
Looks great
I want to see my LPL
How do you access the underside of the driver side plug?
If you have a cargo van, then all locations except the front plugs can be seen just on the ceiling since there is no headliner. If there is a headliner, you can peel it away on the sides. For the front mounting locations, you have to reach your hand in under the headliner.
@@upfitsupply thank you!
Do you have to worry about moisture?
The material itself is mildew and bacteria resistant. If it does get wet, it dries out just fine without any degradation.
Send it to the LockpickingLawyer. Thats the only test that matters.
Thank you.
You not explaining how difficult the plus nut install is. Is very misleading. I bought 2 different tools and used the handy man manual method and I can't get these installed.
It's actually pretty simple with the right tool (like the one we use in the video). If you don't have a plus nut setting tool, the easiest route is to get our disposable tool (upfitsupply.com/product/plus-nut-installation-tool/) and buy a longer M6 bolt to use with it for setting the plus nuts.
1200$?!!!😮
Mine is a 2006 , best investment ever .
Excellent video, professionally produced! Ty for a quality and useful video!
Thank you for the feedback!
I could cut that off so fast. 😂 Slicker than ....
Factory lock does a better job
lengths are regular, long and extended and match up to roof height selections as you noted. for me more inportantly is bumper to bumper length (OAL) for driveway, garage parking challenges.
To make it even more confusing, Ford calls them Regular, Long and Long-EL
Will this fit the passenger/titanium version of the van? Or only the cargo version?
As far as I can tell it will only fit cargo versions. The main thing you'll want to check is the D-ring mounting location on the floor and those mounting locations over the door (the headliner may conflict).
good show and tell esp your height to ceiling demo. high percentage of folks are 6 ft or less so easy peasy.
Hit it with a BFH and see how secure it is.
Or bust the window
Not shown in the video, but we install steel window guards as well. Many cargo vans don't have the glass like ours.
@@upfitsupply you install steel windows everywhere or just the back? Point is, you just made it harder to bust the back door, they just break something else easier, I know you didn’t steel window guard the front driver and passenger windows.
@@coyotecreek318 We only have glass on the back doors. Side door does not have a window. Our van, like many work vans, has a steel partition separating the cab from the cargo hold, which prevents entry from the cab if it were to be compromised. However, your point is still valid. Given enough time, determination, & noise, the van can be compromised. We've heard of some situations where they're using angle grinders and just cutting holes in the body of the van to get in. However, these locks will repel most common crooks. They'll just move on to an easier target.
Clean install but on that style you can get a blade in behind the puck lock and cut the tabs off.
Do you have brackets for the E-transit?
Not yet! But I know they are working on it.
Does this insulation also act as sound deadening? Wondering if this can replace Kilmat on the paneling or whether it’s a good idea to do both?
Yes, it definitely does deaden the sound. We did some testing and found just the insulation (still no flooring or wheel well covers) decreased road noise by 5%.
I was waiting for the McNally cut
This is very helpful thank you for diving deep into the details. My only question is are there cutouts in the ceiling panel for the legend ceiling lights? I have a sprinter van 144 wheelbase high roof.
Thanks! There is pre-scoring for factory ceiling lights, but not for the Legend motion sensor lights. You can either use a hole saw or they give you a little template to trace and cut out locations for the lights. Here's an example: ruclips.net/video/e2kVK6X_Dnk/видео.htmlsi=pQ96PGuB57kO8lna&t=266
The main difference is in the engines. The Dodge has a Fiat engine while the Ford has a modified Focus engine. Fiats have the worst engine, thanks to Chrysler. I have the Transit Connect 2012 and it’s huge compared to either of these. I’m over 200,000 miles and it runs great.
How do you turn the key to go from dead lock to slam lock modes ?
To put it in dead lock: turn key all the way to the right, remove key. To put in slam lock: turn key all the way to left, remove key. Here's a video with more detail: ruclips.net/video/-f3Vc4nbqIE/видео.html
@@upfitsupply Ok Thanks, i must be install the slamlock only version.
Great details!
Thanks!
I’m needing a way to lock the Promaster slider from the inside. Any ideas?
