2023 Lakeland Airshow
I got to the Lakeland Airshow again this year and was able to visit with my nephew, Mike Mills, his beautiful wife Louise, and his family. I've made this video, but all I got were the A-35 and Blue Angels. I should have also gotten all the people I was there to visit. I'm a pretty bad videographer!

A good day fishing

Not a lot of large fish, but it was a beautiful day and I filled my livewell. Making jerky as I write. :-)
Sharks of Honeymoon Island

So far this season, I've been skunked in the tarpon department. Haven't even gotten a bite though I've been trying for several weeks. I chartered Patriotic Guide Service today to try and improve my situation. Didn't happen. What I got, though, was a terrific time with several sharks. These are no-nonsense fish that really test your equipment. The video is four minutes, and I hope it's entertain...
Fishing in the Early Summer

I didn't catch anything remarkable on this trip, but I had beautiful weather and lots of fish. It's always fun!
Feb 2022 Dolphin Encounter
Просмотров 92 года назад
Fishing in the Tampa region typically means dolphins are around and can mess up some good fishing. That aside, I went to one of the spoils islands in St. Joseph Sound and found plenty of fish and dolphins. There seemed to be a happy association where they hunted over there and I fished over here, until one such animal came over for a look when I was reeling in a ladyfish. Luckily, I had started...
Feb 2022 Anclote Ladyfish

While the midwest and northeast are firmly in the grip of winter, we in the Tampa Bay area are enjoying a relatively mild winter. I made this video in February and it's been cool and blustery for the last few weeks. Many fish species slow down or stop feeding when the water temperature gets to 60 degrees, and the water today is at 62. Slow going for other species, but I found three amazing plac...
January jacks 2022

After weeks of cold and windy conditions, I was able to get out and do some fishing. The wind was blowing so I stayed on the mainland side of the intracoastal. I went to the Anclote Power Plant outfall and had lots of fun with jacks.

I haven't posted anything for quite a while, but that doesn't mean I'm not fishing; it just means I'm not catching anything worth your time! My day today was calm and relaxing, although I didn't land anything spectacular. Nonetheless, it's fun to share my adventures.

Howard Park Tarpon June 2020
Просмотров 1494 года назад
I again chartered with Captain Mike Dawson of Patriotic Guide Service in Tarpon Springs. Today, I wanted to catch a tarpon. I've hooked and landed juvenile tarpon in the past, but I wanted an adult this time. We got on the water at 6am and headed to Howard Park, just down the coast. Within minutes of setting out baits, we had a very large tarpon on the line. For the next hour and 35 minutes, th...
Port Richey Inshore Slam 2020
Просмотров 1564 года назад
This is my latest fishing adventure with Capt. Mike Dawson of Patriotic Guide Service in Tarpon Springs. He and I were intending to fish offshore for kingfish, but the wind brought the seas higher than we consider safe so he showed me some amazing places on the intracoastal. I got my Inshore Slam, and had a tremendous time with lots of fishing action.
January Anclote River redfish and mangrove snapper

This is a continuation of my posting of Anclote River ladyfish. We went a couple of miles upriver and fished a couple of private docks and a wall of riprap. We caught several redfish and mangrove snappers, as well as sheepshead; all juveniles. We'll venture further upriver in a couple of weeks looking for mama and papa snook :-)

How shallow is the canal?
In the vicinity of where I was fishing, it’s about 10ft. As a constructed channel, the bottom contour is deeper than other beaches. The channel is a prominent feature in the intracoastal.
Hello there. Nice entertaining videos. On the previous video while trolling in Anclote,, what diver lure you were using?
As always, enjoy your fishing videos! 🎣
I like watching your fishing video.
The garrulous macaroni concomitantly jam because curler preferentially gaze during a unbecoming cockroach. utopian, agreeable coffee
Nice vid👍
Do you find it harder to find live bait in the winter? Are they in deeper water?
White bait change habitat to offshore when the water gets cooler. Don’t expect to see any until May, and most everyone uses shrimp instead.
Do you have a link to the type of fish food you use?
Jason, it would help my answer if I knew where you live. If you’re from Florida, every sports store that carries fishing equipment also carries chum for attracting fish. The chum used for minnows is your standard aquarium fish food that you can buy in bulk. I get a 20lb bucket and it will last for about one year. Some people insist that they get better results by adding Menhaden oil and/or canned mackerel, and that may be true. Nonetheless, I and every charter skipper simply add seawater to form a paste. The single ingredient in short supply is patience. Seeing hundreds of fish around you while tossing thumb-sized pieces of the chum paste is a powerful inducement for throwing your net. Finally, if you’re new to Florida and looking for professional guidance, check out the library of podcasts available through theonlinefisherman.com. Captain Dave Reimont has published about a hundred podcasts that cover just about every species and fishing techniques.
Thanks. I live in the anclote area. I noticed you don’t have a trolling motor. Neither do I on my boat. Are you able to still catch reds and snook? All I get is trout. Thinking I might need to get a trolling motor but they are expensive
@@Jason-wx7ms I’ve improved my fishing since I posted that video and I regularly get an inshore slam. Not every time I go out, but I’ve learned where to look for each species so I do pretty well. I gotta say, though, I’d do a little better if I had a trolling motor and a power pole. I’m buying a new boat in January and I’m looking for one with those two extras.
Nice to know bluefish that size are around, they are talking right now about a limit of 3 per day for the whole east coast plus the gulf, meeting is is Oct.
a 40 inch snook is probably around 40 years old
Kyle, I’m intrigued with your statement, and I’d like to know more about your source for this age estimate. I used a size-at-age table.
What bridge is that?
The Courtney Campbell has two bridges, a large one on the East side and a much smaller one on the West. This was the smaller one.
Best spot ever try going inside
It’d likely be a serious offense to pull your boat over the floats.

Nice job fishing 👍. Been meaning to try that spot out again one day
I run a 17ft Mako w/a 90hp Yamaha. Both are super dependable.
What size is your boat?
I run a 17ft Mako w/a 90hp Yamaha. Both are super dependable.
Was this filmed inside Kennedy Space Center? If so, I thought you could only see the launchpad from the Causeway.
By the way awesome video.
Listening to both the kids and adults went crazy just made my day.
The sound oooo my !!!!!!!
The sound brings tears to my eyes. great video :)
Thanks for sharing the video. It was fun to watch.
thats how to do it! ;-) anclote key is my favorite fishing spot. i paddle al the way out there and go after the big red and snook ;-) would love to go there once by boat and spend some more time fishing than paddling :-D. nice video. greez from switzerland
Probably the best video showing the trajectory from inland to the island itself. Thank you!
